You'll forget it uses BATTERIES! - SteelSeries Rival 3 Wireless Mouse
Thanks to SteelSeries for sponsoring today's video! Check out the SteelSeries Rival 3 Wireless at lmg.gg/d8IH9
What makes a wireless gaming mouse great? Is it because it's lightweight, offers great sensor accuracy, or maybe great battery life? What happens if you found all 3 and it's comfortable to hold. Also, yes David shaved his beard. We're all sad about it.

@crummyy well, a fully normal person will buy a long-lasting mouse(like my logitech m220), not a gaming one, and use it for a year. though i'm eager to find mix of long-lasting, silent or semi-silent mice that is still good for gaming...

I have this mouse so, clarification : 400h is with "high efficiency mode" activated wich disable the RGB and reduce the polling rate. Without this sort of "eco mode", the included AAA batteries lasted one week.
That's like 168 hours max... Pretty misleading from steelseries lol

I love when David stretch the windows to make it the Interface bigger, but it stays the same so the editor need to zoom in 😂
I've been using a wired rival 100 for years now and I've loved it. This mouse is finally the wireless version of it, with essentially the same dimensions and weight and feel. I preordered it the moment it was available. Can't wait to get mine :)
David is a great host, I'd love to continue seeing stuff from him on any LMG channel
In steelseries engine you can automatically switch profile based on the application you are currently using. You could leave high efficiency mode always on on let the pc turn it off for you when you start a game
How do I do that? I haven't been able to figure out how to switch between the high efficiency & a higher rate with the touch of 1 of the mouse buttons.
@@BoltRM never mind, it works like shit and reconnect is not always working after mode change. Also it won't save you much battery.
Linus is self-conscious about his beard, he made David shave his.
David: Aight ima shave People: Who is that? It can't be David?!!!
How many games? I would probably still be stuck on a single puzzle in Portal I think.
Just got it due to your recomendation. The mouse is INSANE! For palm grip ofc! I'm in love!
Speedrunner: "all of them".
I recently got this mouse on sale for $40 and I know it's on Amazon right now for $45 and I gotta say it's the best mouse I've used. I don't usually spend too much on mice because I don't see it a worth it but I decided to give myself a budget of 50-70 and I ended choosing this and it's worked out really well so far. I have a little larger than average hands and it fits perfectly fine in them so people with little large hands should be fine. also, I've been using it for 2 weeks so far on 1000 polling rate and batteries haven't depleted yet (I'm on my pc an average of 6-8 hours a day for homework, classes, and gaming). id say I have easily put in 90+ hours so far into the mouse and batteries are totally fine. this is just my overall experience with the mouse. I don't know how others feel about it but I say it's worth a buy and if you don't like it then you can return it. btw sorry if my English is bad, I was born and raised in the united states but my parents are immigrants and English is my second language.
nice brother
yeah 90 hours tops it is. :D
1:06 "it's got the TruMoo air sensor..." 🐄🥛
Have been using their mice since first gen sensei and haven't missed a beat. Just waiting for them to redo the awesome Merc Stealth keyboard and then I'll be super happy!
5:17 just so no one complains about it. You can adjust the dpi in smaller increments as well, if you type it into the textbox instead of using the slider. (on my rival 310 you can at least)
He looks like jake but with a beard. Ali expresses jake?
Which jake ?
Running at 3.5 mph???? Who “runs” at 3.5 mph. That is still walking yo
I wish more high end wireless mouse come with standard AA or AAA option, not just for ease of maintenance but being able to switch out rechargeable AA for a new one is much more convenient than plug it in with a cable. It also give you a true wireless experience with absolutely no wire any where in your setup
Nice review. You touched on all of the points that make a great mouse, but there's one thing I can't stand.... When you bounced the mouse on the pad, I could hear the button rattle and that's a big no go for me. I want my buttons to stay solidly in place when I lift and move. An accidental click can be a game ender.
It's about 250-400 games of Civilization 5, I've been playing it since it's come out (so about 10 years)
Damn my two worlds be crossing again Renuilz, Secretly and Chaos being mentioned in a vid
It was a really nice showcase. Very well presented.
That’s great. 16 days. I love Steelseries but my G602 Logitech is like 3 to 6 months battery life. I can’t get over it.
Less than two 100% playthroughs of The Witcher 3 Base game is estimated to be 200 hours for 100%, and the two DLCs are a further 80 hours IIRC
Any open-world game can take up an infinite amount of time, but if you're not wandering it only takes about 50 hours to beat all quests and side quests in the W3 base game.
@@Alexandra-ek7kh Right. I specified "100% playthorugh". This is what it takes to complete the entire game with all achievements completed as well.

4:40 A G305 is the exact same price as the rival.
yeah if only
Yeah.. I think I'm missing something here. I have a G305 and at resistance mode I use one battery each 3 months running 16 hours a day. This is the same 125 hz the Rival 3 offers but if my math is not wrong, it's 1440 hours of use... In contrast the Logitech doesn't offer Bluetooth and use one AA battery only. If you want to reduce the weight you can mod a AAA inside too.
@@gkato I had the option between the Rival 3 and the G305, and I chose the G305 because the Rival 3's shape looks awful to me and I already have enough mice with Bluetooth.
Ah finally. A benchmark game I can actually relate to
Thank for showing of good danish craftmanship :)
Easily my favorite wireless gaming mouse of all-time. I've owned it for 6 months and I've never had any issues and it fits my hand perfectly.
How many batteries have you bought and what power settings do you use?
I already forgot because I have a Logitech mice and a single battery lasts a year. 'Up to' 400 hrs... HA!
my logiteh g305 lasts half a year, this clown rival 3 lasts 5 days on 1000hz lol
this video helped me a lot now i know i don't regret ordering this mouse
I love the RipNDip shirt looking good man
0:12 "... Running, at 3.5 mph" That's not a run, homie. That's a medium - fast walk for most.
I have an LG Wireless mouse that is 7 years old, used every day, and I've only changed the batteries twice.
That’s not really that impressive to be honest, it’s probably some non gaming mouse with low polling rates, bad sensor,...

That's what I loved about my Logitech G602's. Yes, plural. The click registers on that mouse suck and don't last very long. But the battery life was amazing, and the ergonomics are good too. Also getting the Energizer lithium AAAs will lighten the mouse too, and last longer.

I bought the wired version of this mouse a couple months ago for £30 GBP and it was worth it. Really good fit for my medium sized hands, weight is really good too and it feels like a really balanced mouse. Definitely recommend it.

A. I love David already B. I don't know why David looks like a baby in this one ☺️
I LITERALLY just got the Rival 3 yesterday, RIP.
You could easily swap the battery for a lithium ion battery to make it even lighter and also extend the battery life
I am just so happy to see a rainbow six fan on the show. This is why I enjoy David as a host.
FYI, batteries from different manufactures weight different. And weight is a decent indicator of battery quality/longevity.
dang, that table is wobbly
I have a razor which has whell it says 450 hours which rounds in about 13 days. And are the battery mouses eaven good?
I just bought the wired one one week ago. For 39$ it's unbelievably good. :)
Beardless David is the keeper look or if you go beard keep it cropped close. Love watching your content, we're not judging you, your hands betray an element of in front of camera anxiety. But with your delivery coming across confident other than that trust me you've nothing to worry about. Although I swear being made to review or cover this mouse was some sort of herculean test to make it interesting and keep our attention. Only watched it all because its you.
David is a really good gamer! Love his child looks tho 😁😁
How is the LIFT OFF Distance in comparison with the wired version of the SS Rival 3 please ?
Will someone please give that table more support! Fed up of seeing it wobble all over the place!
also lightness depents on battery to, for example philips batteries are lighter than duracell
what I now know from the video is that the table is REALLY wobbly. look at that irl screen shake
As soon as these are available I'm buying one.
Looks like they finally improved the software... one of my biggest gripes on the 310 is the software was.. "rudimentary" at best. Logitech's simply murdered it in public and walked away. My other issue was the logo's LED had no dimmer.. it was either on/off and on it was as bright as THE SURFACE OF THE SUN... which if you play in the dark or low light it's fucking blinding.
youll have to have light batteries, or single is even better. i had orochi, amazing mouse, heft killed me, esp with 2 rechargable 2500s. just option to run it on single is amazing... if sensor is any good
That was the single most calorie rich time comparison ever made
Stubble David looks like someone who would actually work at ltt

Beardless linus + jake = beardless david
I had the regular rival 3, it's okay but I love my Corsair mouse
Had lots of issues with steelseries gear over the years. 2 different Sensei mice, a headset and multiple rgb mouse pads all had issues. The only thing that didn't break on me was the keyboard.
I had one of their mouse mats I got at Walmart a few years ago, and it started to peel up on the edges after 6 months(fully slid off a month later) I bought one of those cheapo black desk mats with a world map on it for $9 on eBay, and a year later with just a light cleaning it still looks new. If they can't make a decent mouse mat that cost more money then a large cheapo chinese one, and the cheapo has better quality, then I don't trust them with my money for any of their other gear that's for sure.
hows the performance over the year? Been thinking of getting one
