  • I own a G502, and I like how easy it is to scroll on "free scroll" mode. The only problem I have with it is lately it tends to "double-scroll" until I cycle the DPI back to what I have it on somewhat often, and there's no driver updates, so it's not that.

    • That's ironic because I literally did the same thing lol. I loved the wired so I bought the wireless. I just upgraded my keyboard too, from the Logitech G Pro to the Logitech G915 but I'm still not sure how I feel about the low-profile keys at this point. I really loved the Pro keyboard but having wires is just too messy for me since I'm working with a laptop on a lap desk on my bed (no room for a desk). • I use the G600 for most things. I was using the USmartTech Venus for awhile. It's actually a good mouse. But I like having the extra buttons. I use them instead of buttons on my keyboard. So, I can basically keep my fingers on WASD and not have to worry about anything else. The side buttons are really easy to learn thanks to the "home row" bumps they have on the 13 and 16.

  • I looked through hundreds of listings before buying this one and after a couple years with it, I find it obvious why that model got so popular, even with competition on the specs. When you looked at most models you immediately started to find crazy patterns. The ones that are solely focused on flashiness and lights but fails easily or has poor sensor registering, the ones skimped on quality for the sake of specs on paper, but you regret it the moment you unpack and connect it, the minimalistic ones to the point you really wouldn't call it gaming mouse any more, and the miniatures designed for hobbit hands or people that move the mouse entirely with their fingertips without palm contact.

  • For me I fell in love with the button layout and the amount. It was the first mouse where I could program all the numbers on it for toolbelts in games, which allowed me to select quickly even in shooter games while on the move. The double clicking issue early on took a while to happen, I think the shortest time for me was 6 months, but I was gaming 8-12 hours a day. I remember I tried to give an off brand who's design was similar a chance and something else failed on that one I don't remember so I went back to the G502. The only major complaint I have ever had is I have pretty good sized hands and gaming with this thing for 8 hours makes my hand feel cramped. Its very narrow.

    • @@KindOldRaven Yes I'm sure it would but my complaint has nothing to do with that. I noticed the difference right off the bat when using this mouse. I got my first G502 during Black Ops II gaming, playing with zombies. The mouse puts my ring finger and thumb too close together and forces my hand to cup. Something in that position was doing it.

    • The previous iteration of the app that I used with my Proteus was perfect, then they sacrificed user friendly functionality for "looks" in the new G-Hub app (I use with my Lightspeed) and it's a HUGE pain in the butt. It doesn't switch profiles when it should, so I have to set it to "persistent" before starting a game, I have to go into settings with a bunch of relegated settings like the red-headed stepchildren kept out of sight, but anything else you can lock for inside the operation menu with the rest of the settings as there's a 🔒 icon in those menus you can click (when "persistent" is off) but there's a 🔒 icon on the window that has the app profile (in the SAME page) but you CAN'T click it. The app was SUPER easy to read and understand in the old app as on startup everything was basically on the front page. Everything was, and it was easy to understand and operate. The G-Hub app you have to change menus/windows constantly when setting up new profiles. The mouse image (to see the key binds) you have to switch between side and top when the previous app had the image at an angle so you could easily see all key binds. Functions that did NOT need to be implemented, but they wanted it to look "bare and clean".😒 The previous app was easy to understand, easy to use, wasn't complicated, and it was neat and clean (as in not cluttered with options and overwhelming with functions). But it seems they wanted the new G-Hub to "look great" first and everything else is second. Now you have a useless "front page" of sorts that serves no purpose other than to have a cover letter presentation. Literally the few bits of information on the "front page" is literally presented to you on 2 or 3 other pages. Functions that you'd think would be grouped together but are separated by exiting entire windows/menus, just to have to go back to a setting the menu/window before to adjust when setting up a profile for the first time for the app/game. It's like they kept information presented at an absolute minimum, even presenting a couple of them in OTHER menus/windows, just to present the multiple menus/windows as minimalistic as possible as a "clean looking app" when all they've done is make it an app you have to switch back and forth and then find out sometimes it's just SHOWING you the info but you can't actually change that setting unless you go to another menu/window. Whatever. I HATE G-Hub with a raging hellfire passion only the heat from the center of a white dwarf can compare. So yeah.

    • i bought 502 as upgrade from 402, and the layout is far nicer than 402. the G7 and G9 buttons are comfortable to hold for long as part of "repeat click" macro (so you don't wear mouse 1 faster) and the free scrolling button really helps when the game contains long ass inventory or menu.

  • Honestly, I think people underestimate how impactful the free-spinning (or Hyper-scrolling) mouse wheel is for experience as you are scrolling through spreadsheets, code, or documents. You can scroll slowly like a touch pad and then go fast as heck and then slow back down with minute control. Sure you could probably use the scroll bar or keyboard shortcuts, but it's right there in your hand. Cannot go back to another mouse without it. Bought my G502 from Best Buy and I will use it until it dies and probably buy another one.

  • I use it in music production. There's so many Ctrl-click/Alt-click/Ctrl-Alt-Shift-Windows-click shortcuts in Pro Tools, having the modifier keys mapped to the thumb buttons is such a workflow boost. I also like the weights, not because it's heavier though, but because placing weights in the front shifts the center of gravity to actually make it feel lighter, at least for my grip. On top of that, I've had it for nearly 5 years now and I can't tell a difference from when it was new. Those factors, plus the ergonomic layout, has me a very happy customer. When/if this wears out, I'm getting another one.

    @ChrisThomasBone@ChrisThomasBone2 жыл бұрын
    • My only complaint is the overall durability of it. I've had 3 since 2019, all due to the Mouse 2 switch dying on me. Regardless, I still don't think I'll ever have another mouse. My hand size is perfect for it, I actually love the heavier weight, and the DPI switch being right next to Mouse 1 is extremely convenient for me. Since I game at a low sens, but work and browse at a higher sens, switching between them is just super fast and fluid. I actually just moved onto the G502 Lightspeed and I don't think I will ever get another mouse again.

I have a G502 at home, but compared to the wheel on the MX Master I have at the office it's honestly a little stoneage 😄 On the Master, the wheel automatically goes from clicky to free spinning if you scroll fast, and returns to clicky when you slow down. Love it, gives me precise scrolling when I need it and fast when I want it. Not sure how good it would be for gaming though. For productivity, it's wonderful.

  • I’ve ran many years on my G502. I love the tracking and extra buttons, but absolutely hate the software (so much that all the family in the house is running the older Logitech software because of how many bugs the new software brought forth) and I think the mouse has a little high of an arch, meaning it changes how my hand sits on the mouse. Still totally worth 50$ though.

Using it the first time around or for a short period you're not as likely to notice any issues (at least in my experience) but once you actually start spending more time in it adding a bunch of macros, messing with profiles, etc, you start noticing those bugs

    • Yeah, I don't really like Logitech G Hub (or whatever it's called) too. Fortunately, G502 is one of the Logitech's mice that is supported by the older software too (Logitech Gaming Software) which to me feels less bloated. If it's also not your cup of tea, there's an option of saving all the settings to the mouse's onboard memory and completely uninstalling the software. Even RGB patterns are saved there!

  • Had the G502 Hero for a solid 6 months, then it started double clicking/dragging. RMA'd it and went through 2 more because of the same issues within the following 4 months. RMA'd it again and the fourth one is still sitting in the box in the closet while a steel series Rival 600 is my regular now. Maybe I play FPS games too much (and might be a little hard on the microswitch) but the switch is the biggest downfall for the G502. I loved every other aspect of it for the price. Solid review Linus!

  • The G502 Proteus Core was the first mouse I ever bought for my gaming PC and I stubbornly refuse to switch to any other different mouse. I am currently on my 3rd G502 (first 2 broke due to rage) and still live by this mouse. Luckily, I don't think I have ever experienced any of the double clicking problems others talk about.

    • it was my first mouse too, but being honest, u are missing out a lot if u dont change it to better one. it was good when it released, but there are lots of better options now. If u are casual gamer, it wil be enought, but if u want to improve and be better, logitech g pro x superlight for example are so much better, and it gives you room to improve more

  • As a non-gamer I don’t care much about the performance. I just love the design and feel with all the weights in it. I own 3 (2 wired & 1 wireless). Also love the feeling and function of the scroll wheel. I dry bushed the edges of the panels with silver paint and it looks like its made of metal. I think visually the design is perfect & looks badass on my desk.

    • It's ridiculous that they don't add an anti-doubleclick option in the software. Just have a benchmark for how fast you can click. If significantly faster clicks come in, discard and assume bug click. This exists as a separate piece of software you can apply system wide (windows only, "clickfix". It's just autohotkey!), but there's no practical reason they can't do it on the mouse itself. It's not like debouncing isn't already a thing! They just need to stretch its limits!
