  • ☺ Seeing the battery low symbol on the screen I knew what was to happen. Don’t worry, Tony, it’s a learning curve, just as building those tanks. Had a blast again watching this one, even it was short. Always enjoy watching you do your thing!

    • Thanks Ray, I am very glad that you continue to watch and follow. I am learning as I go on this build as there are many differing aspects to my previous builds and that is why I have become very fond of this little Hetzer.

  • Good work on the not so glamorous part of building young man , but trimming the screws are a necessary job to be done. Heavy about the battery 🔋 going but every youtuber I've seen have had battery and memory card agg . See 👀👀you next week sir 👍.

  • Shame the battery died 😂 The hetzers running gear is fairly simple to assemble, but it was fun at the time to figure out how to manufacture. Few head scratching moments over compound angles iirc... Good luck with the new steel rings. Something I noticed whilst I had it all out on the bench again. If you have the patience, it might be worth looking at the track link journals and giving the squared edge a radius, where it engages with the teeth. It might be ott though and the steel ones will run OK without all that effort.

    • Hi Sean, and thanks for watching and commenting. I have now assembled the sprockets(video up soon) and the steel sprocket rings still require chamfering to the teeth so they mesh perfectly with the track links. How did you get on with installing the Sprocket on to the drive case? I see on the forum, some people had issues with that?

      @tonys_workshop@tonys_workshop5 ай бұрын
    • @tonys_workshop I've not built one, assembly isn't my department 😅 but If your referring to the locking nut, I believe we made a tool with a length of material and two pins to engage with two of the holes in the sprocket centre hub so you can hold that steady whilst tightening the nut with a torque wrench. Then, just a few attempts to get it seated in the correct place, after being fully tightened to the specified Nm, in relation to the Idler and roadwheels.

      @seantwig9577@seantwig95775 ай бұрын
    • Thanks Sean, that is a useful tip. I will see how I get on.

      @tonys_workshop@tonys_workshop5 ай бұрын
  • Coming along well. I didn't (or missed that bit in the instructions) mount the sprockets before fixing the drive casings. Not entirely sure how you would tighten up the locking bushes if it wasn't anchored against the hull. That being said I mounted the motors as soon as I attched the casings so I could make sure everything engaged properly. I also then found out that locktiting the motor mounts so you can't remove them makes fitting the motor mount bolts a nightmare... Looking forward to how you tackle it as opposed to my bodging 😅

    • Hi Daniel, thank you. Yes, a bit of an odd one this. The instructions clearly indicate mounting the Sprocket on to the drive case and then install the complete assembly to the tank. I guess that it makes it easier to slot over the wheel which rides partially in between the sprocket rings. I am going to tackle this part this coming weekend....fingers crossed I don't mess it up😀 I will have that Vid up in two weeks as long as all goes well😀

    • Hi Gary, yes, school boy error...I was so happy building this part, as it all went together so well and took no notice of the camera beeping at me. I was in my own little world of tank building🤣 Plenty of contributions to the swear box followed🤣

  • Tony: Even being a DIY guy, you provide some much need to know information when building each one of your tanks, which saves time for the rest of us. Can't wait to see the next video installment. What is your eventual plan for all the tanks, go and take them to shows and reenactments or something else? Keep up the good work.

    @billgunter3484@billgunter34845 ай бұрын
    • Hi Bill, that is very kind of you. Not sure what to do with them. I would like to take them to model shows and there is one near me every year. I may decide to take them to that next June. I also offered the Tiger to a local land war museum near me, they loved it, but they declined as they "would need someone to drive & maintain it and didn't have anyone available" They have asked whether I would volunteer to show them off, so this may also work, but I am still working full time and that would not be possible at the moment. I do also have concept plans to create a 1/6 scale battle zone for these tanks on a piece of land I own, but very early days and something for next year possibly. Thanks for watching and supporting.

  • Hi Tony. This time I had an incident and after taking the photo, I must have been disappointed! However, there is no doubt that this video will be very helpful for those who own Hetzer Jagdpanzer 38 as it will tell you what to be careful of! looking forward for next time.

  • Hi Tony. I've enjoyed watching your videos so much that I've put a spare screen in my garage so that you can keep me company while I'm working on my own tank. Sorry about the mess down here, and I did shout out about the battery warning but I guess you didn't hear me😜 Actually, I've been very impressed by your clear working surfaces throughout your builds, as whenever I clear a work surface it's cluttered again within an hour. My late dad used to say "a place for everything and everything in its place" but my motto seems to have become "a place for everything and nothing in its place". I'd like to ask whether you scale your mock welds accurately from photos or make them look right by eye? 👍

    @keith-morgan@keith-morgan5 ай бұрын
    • Hi Keith and hope your build is progressing well. Trying to keep a clear workspace is important especially with the amount of parts you are dealing with on any AT tank build. I really do need to sort my Garage/workshop out, but for some reason I don't seem to have much spare time to tackle it😂 Thank you for watching and glad to hear that my Vids are helping in some small way. When it comes to mock welding, I try and keep the width to around 2mm or 3mm max. This would not be true to scale, but any smaller would be difficult to achieve and lost in the detail once painted. Hope this helps.
