  • Can you get a barrel smoke unit? Seen them on 1/16 tanks, muzzle flash and a blast of smoke. Excellent episode 👏👏👍

    • Thank you. Armortek have just upgraded with a twin smoke unit to allow for this, but not sure whether it was available on the Hetzer. Their new generation kits will all have the option for this...so next time...hopefully😀🤞

  • Seeing the issue you had with fitting in the speakers it makes me appreciate the room I got by having a single LiPO4 battery. As it is I was able to lay the battery on it's side and put the two speakers on top whilst still have plenty of room for the rest of the electronics. I haven't fitted the smoker yet but after a trip to the factory today it will go in as the final step before securing the roof. I will also use your weathering technique once I have my camoflage scheme applied too 🙂

    • Hi Daniel, you did mention this battery before but it is very expensive... so I opted to what AT recommended....I am sure there is a way of installing both speakers using the conventional batteries, but I am happy with the sound and layout which I ended up with. I would have loved to attend AT today, but my family has other plans. Please pass my best on to Kian and the team and hope you have an amazing day.

  • Watching you doing the weathering my head was thinking about what I would possibly do. Isn’t it great that this hobby makes people creative, and the finishes usually differ? Is there the option to have a slight delay to vent the exhaust smoke after starting the engine? About a second would look good, imho. I am still on the edge to get an AT tank kit, but where to build it not having a workplace as yours? Tony, I am jealous! Please be assured that I will follow you on the Rover and any other AT kit you will build. Watching you do your magic is fun!!

    • Hi Thomas and thank you. This is my favourite part of building these kits. Armortek allow the builder the freedom to make the kit your own by adding details, paint etc. I absolutely loved building this kit and really pleased I chose to go with it. It has turned out better than I imagined. Alas..no option for delay in smoke on start up, but this new smoke unit is definitely better than the 1st generation one. I do understand that space restraints have an impact and I am very fortunate to have a large garage which I have turned into my workshop, but there are many builders who build these in their sheds, conservatories and I have even seen one built in a kitchen. The Hetzer in my opinion is a good choice if space is a concern as it does not require as much space as the larger of the tanks or even the Series 1 which starts next week. Thank you for your continued support and hope you continue to watch and follow my builds. Best regards...Tony

  • Wow Tony, what a great finale to what has been a wonderful series on your Hetzer build. One little point that I was thinking would be great for the smoke - if Armortek ever find the time and electro-technology skills - would be a puff of smoke on deceleration/over-run and a brief stopping of the exhaust smoke at changing up gear shift points, such as seen on real vehicles. Perhaps even the option of a blacker, greasier diesel type smoke solution to make the smoke more visible? Little things I know, but ones to really add a note of realism to what has been a stellar example of your model-making skills. Like you I’ve loved every minute of your journey, longed for Saturday mornings for the next episode and now hanging on for the Series 1 Land-Rover! Can’t wait 👏🏼👏🏼

    • Thanks Peter, that is very kind of you to say. I agree, that would be amazing...I am testing some other smoke oils...There is one called 'Living Steam' which is a darker version and has an odour...mainly used on model trains, but I am going to see how this works on the current AT smoker unit. Thank you so much for your amazing support, it is very much appreciated.

  • Great paint job but where would the machine gunner sit😮

    @GordonShuffell@GordonShuffell13 күн бұрын
    • Thanks Gordon. The MG34 was remotely operated from inside the Hetzer as this was designed as an ambush light armour tank and the gunner would have been very vulnerable sitting on the outside. Space was a premium inside as there would have been three crew members...Aussie Armour have a great video on the inside and workings of the Hetzer...worth a watch if you have 10 mins.

  • Excellent build on this, and a veritable warren of wiring and components in that very cramped space, and yes, the weathering really does bring it to life, sitting there next to the M26 the size comparison is rather shocking (perhaps you might consider some version of an M4, which of course the Hetzer was very much more likely to go up against), those final images up close were gorgeous, but that figure really gives an idea of their tight quarters, I kinda have to wonder if anyone near you (relatively speaking) has taken any time to maybe construct a to-scale village or similar environment in which you and others might drive your vehicles? seems like that would be great fun

    @jeffturnbull9661@jeffturnbull966113 күн бұрын
    • Hi Jeff and thank you. I am really pleased how this has turned out. Yes, up against the M26 it looks so small...The Hetzer had a crew of three...can't imagine what it would have been like trying to work inside it. Aussie Armour have one of these and there is a great video of the inside and workings of the Hetzer...worth a look. Funny you should say that, I am actually working up plans to create a scale battle environment for these tanks. I will cover this on my channel, but later this year.

  • Hi Tony. Weathering is done boldly! I learned about Tony's talent when I saw MG34, and he is amazing again this time. The Hetzer has been transformed from a brand new tank from the factory into a fine tank that has been through many battles! My Armortek will do the same thing as Tony when the time comes. My enjoyment has increased again. Tony: Congratulations on completing it! Thank you for your good work. Ben: Thanks to you, we're able to share Tony's knowledge. I am grateful for that. Wife: It's great that you understand and support your husband.

So, was there really rust on their tanks? If you also consider the Prussian manner in everything! Then again thanks you for letting us in to the heart of Tank building and I'm looking forward for the next mission!

    • Thank you Lars, much appreciated. Not sure why builders do that, but we each have our own ways of interpreting what we feel reflects the look of these kits...I for one, would not want to take a valuable model and start distressing with a hammer...I am moving towards just weathering to show field age rather than battle damage. Really glad to hear that you enjoy my builds and hope you tune into my Series 1 project starting next week.

  • hi tony. the paint and weathering look great, it is a very cool looking tank, i am surprised at how little movement there is in the turret, the commander would have to be on his game to move quickly to sight another target or evade an opponent. a few questions....is the transmitter a separate purchase or does it come with one of the option packs. can you adjust the tone and bass on the sound module...i look forward to the series 1 build. it has been absorbing building these kits vicariously through you. cheers.

    • Thank you. I am so pleased on the way this has turned out...I was nervous about tackling the paint job, but it worked a treat. The radio gear and receiver is purchased separately from hobby shops, as Armortek leave this up to the individual to choose. No adjustments on the Audio unit to alter bass, but with two speakers you can swap the bass and treble around to alter. I did this on the M26 and it sounds meaty. Series 1 build starts next week and hope you continue to watch and follow. Have a great weekend.
