  • Even if it’s a shorter one I watched with great interest! Cannot wait to see this suspension working. My favourite tank build these days!

    • Thank you. I too am looking forward to getting the suspension system completed and seeing how it all works in harmony. Thanks you for watching, commenting and supporting my channel.

  • The springs look great , and they should work as intended. Most leaf springs have shackles to keep them in line, and most have a center bolt to line everything from end to end. A bolt in the center would eliminate the guesswork out of the assembly. As usual you did a great job!

    • Thanks David. That would have been helpful...A simple central locating pin. Having said that, it was quite straight forward and I am pleased with the way they turned out. Thanks again for your continued support.

    • The leaf springs of the front wheels of the FAMO do have hole(s) to line up them equally on both side. Maybe the Hetzer's leaf springs are smaller so holes were omitted. Like this kind of suspension very much.

  • Hi Tony. Yes, leaf springs are the type of suspension that can still be seen on trucks today. There is also one set for the front wheel of FAMO, and I assembled it the other day. I just worked on the same thing as Tony. I bundled it in the center, but I haven't added any oil yet. I'm looking forward to the next video.

Hi and thank you again for watching and commenting. I am really looking forward to seeing how the leaf springs works with the whole suspension system. I was not aware that the FAMO had similar. I love how Armortek have managed to recreate this in scale format. Hope you continue to watch and follow.

  • Amazing as always, Tony. And I agree. Its the same thing with smaller builds (as i said im used to 1/35 scale) and knowing when to paint helps alot. At the same time some build whole model first, then paint. Other paint all the parts first before assembly. As usual its no right/wrong way, just whatever one makes it easier. On a sidenote I just paid my final payment on the Leopard 2! So now I'm gonna be a Armortekker as well! The wait is hell but I know I learned alot from warching your awesome builds. Thanks again // Kris

    • Hi Kris, agreed...it is everyones different approach to building models that adds to the enjoyment...The builder feels more attached when they decide, how, what and when to paint. Great news on your Leopard, it looks an awesome kit and welcome to the community of Armortek builders. You will not regret it. You will feel like it's Christmas once the boxes arrive...enjoy every moment and thanks for your continued amazing support.

  • More good progress, Tony. Very enjoyable and relaxing to watch, and takes me back to repairing leaf springs on a Thirties car I used to own. I'm glad about the torsion bar design on the M26, though. It'll be interesting to see how much, if at all, they flex under the weight of the hull without the motors, superstructure etc. Good thinking re planning your painting at this stage and I'm also guessing you'll be somewhat dependent on the weather for the main painting job. Thank you for your regular videos. Great to see such rapid progress. 👍

    • Thanks Keith, your kind comments are very much appreciated and always welcomed. The leaf spring suspension system was one of the things that made me go for the Hetzer. Armortek go to great lengths when designing the suspension system on all of their tanks. They are perfectly scaled and I am sure that once I have the complete suspension system installed it will work very well. There seems to be a lot of strength in the spring metal they have chosen...Time will tell, but looking forward to seeing how it works out. BTW They did an amazing job on the M26 Suspension system.

      @tonys_workshop@tonys_workshop6 ай бұрын
  • Got to agree Tony, with your painting plan. My gut says that for ease of task and evenness of finish, at least doing the hull sides, before application of suspension/road wheels is the way to go. Going to be a solid little beast isn't it?👍

    @christopherclarke9316@christopherclarke93166 ай бұрын
    • Hi Christopher, it is the only way I can see to do this. If not how do you ensure you get paint on all of the parts, especially the spring steel parts which are prone to rust. So far so good and I am loving this build. Yes I think when this is finished it is going to stand up very well against the Tiger and the M26. Thank you for watching and commenting it means a great deal to me. Regards...Tony

  • Afternoon Tony bud,Love the suspension components really nice design simple and functional I'm doing the panther torsion bars at the moment not so much fun.. Look forward to the next one

    @garyrafferty8653@garyrafferty86536 ай бұрын
    • Hi Gary, great to hear from you. This is one of the reasons I went with the Hetzer. Are the torsion bars set up on the Panther similar to the Tiger? installing to a set angle? If so, I set my Tiger up on small sheets of 6mm ply to establish the right height for me to set out the angle and then it was very straight forward. When do you anticipate being complete?

      @tonys_workshop@tonys_workshop6 ай бұрын
    • @tonys_workshop very similar bud, double the amount compared to the Tiger Hopefully by end of November..

  • I should have thought about adding the oil after assembly as I oiled each plate as I assembled it. It worked but as you said it was messy and I was glad I was wearing gloves!

    • I have....There is an annual Model show near me and the heavy armour guys are usually there, but this year I think they all went to 'Tankfest" Once I get the Hetzer complete, I will start looking at some shows.

  • Love your series Tony, great work. Do you not think you should have painted the brackets before assembly, now covered in oil, paint won’t stick. Just an afterthought from me 😂

    @SFXDC5@SFXDC56 ай бұрын
    • Thankyou. It is a very good point, but I thought of that already. I have cleaned off the excess oil from the sides and anywhere paint needs to cover. Pretty confident that the only oil that remains is in between the steel leaf parts. It will still need to be painted carefully which I am looking forward to doing. Thanks for watching and supporting what I do.

  • Good stuff. I'm enjoying this very much, as I've enjoyed the other two builds. Just for the record, you didn't seem too spaced out on the last installment. I haven't heard someone say that in quite some time 😂 If I may be so bold as to suggest an idea for your next project, please try and find an M4A3E8 Sherman. I know they weren't heavy tanks but they're one of my favorites. Just a thought. I hope you and yours are doing well. Cheers!

    • Hi Michael and thank you for watching and commenting. I was very jet lagged and didn't start feeling normal again for a couple of weeks...whatever normal is these days😀 I too love the Sherman, but Armortek stopped making this kit a couple of years ago. If they did start making again, I would definitely want to build it. Thanks for your continued amazing support.

  • Good work Tony ,are the leafs metal because on screen they look like black plastic?

    @steve1315@steve13156 ай бұрын
    • Hi Steve, thank you. They are steel 'Spring Steel' The black/blue appearance comes from the manufacturing process as it tends to have a higher carbon content...me thinks :-) Even though they are small they are really strong and I am looking forward to seeing how they work. Hope all is well.
