    • Thanks Steve. I am pleased with the progress and really enjoying this build. Some frustrating moments coming up which I have filmed, but all part of the joy in building these models/ Snowspeeder is an amazing model and so detailed. I too am a fan of the Jawa's, can you imagine if they built a sand crawler in 1/6 scale, it would be bigger than my car!🤣

ESB is still my favourite film in the Star wars series and I loved the snowspeeder and this model does not disappoint. The detail in it is incredible.

  • Hi Tony, The Hetzer was the first or second tank model I ever built, back in the early Eighties. There’s something about this design that has an appeal to us armour enthusiasts. I didn’t have an “under the radar” way to reach out, other than these public comments… I have a funny feeling that the idler arms have been installed upside down on your kit. The idlers are sitting rather low compared to the height of the return roller. I hope I’m wrong, but you might want to double check on that. I really enjoy your work, passion for the hobby, and I find your entire demeanour rather calming. Take care, Brendan

    • Hi Brendan, thank you for watching and commenting. I do love this kit and the engineering design that has gone into the development of the kit. Pretty sure I have installed according to the instructions, but will double check as you have planted a seed of doubt...I will let you know how I get on.

  • Progressing nicely. I wish I had overcome my indecision on a paint scheme before I mounted the wheels as it would have saved me a lot of masking down the line. Now you have the real fun with the sprockets and my nemesis, the locking bushes ;-)

    @daniel_scholefield@daniel_scholefield5 ай бұрын
    • Hi Daniel, I have just finished the sprockets and I have to agree...not easy! I also found that I had to remove the drive case assembly and motor mounts to install the drive motors!!!!!! This could have been avoided with a simple note on the instructions....hugely frustrating, but now sorted and I have filmed the entire painful experience!

      @tonys_workshop@tonys_workshop5 ай бұрын
    • @@tonys_workshop I was going to mantion that but assumed you must have got past it. I fitted the motors first as I wanted the drive cogs to line up when I fitted the drive cases so avoided one lot of grief. I came a cropper when I couldn't unlock the bolts holding the mounts on so had a horrible time trying to access the bottom bolts for the motors. I did it eventially but you are right a note saying don't thredlock the motor mount would have gone a long way.

  • 13:30 they are shoulder bolts and are machined to length so when they are tight the swinging arm is free to move, the bolts go tight and that is the final position with correct clearance on the arm, dressing the heads means more movement (in and out float) than there should be on the arm.

    @232preston@232preston5 ай бұрын
    • Hi, thank you for watching and commenting. I understand your point however Armortek instructions are quite specific and ask not to over tighten. When too tight these bolts on this kit do not allow the arms to operate as intended. These are in and working perfectly with very little movement. Hope you continue to watch and follow.

      @tonys_workshop@tonys_workshop5 ай бұрын
    • At no point do I mention over tightening the bolts, only tightening till the shoulder is in contact with the mount. I'd be very surprised if Armortek hadn't made a shoulder bolt long enough so that it binds the arm when fully tightened down. @@tonys_workshop

      @232preston@232preston5 ай бұрын
    • Thank you for replying. These bolts when passed through the axel mounts only have the threaded part left and there is no shoulder that stops to define the depth. They ask you not to tighten in order to allow the arms to move freely, leaving it at the discretion of the builder. There is minimal float or movement, probably less than 1mm and this will not impact the operation of the model. Hope this answers your question. Best regards...Tony

  • Wild idea here, Tony, you've done such an exemplary job in putting these machines together, illustrating each step (and some of the frustrations) to satisfying conclusion, I think Armortek should employ you to demonstrate the process of building EACH of their offered builds, and furthermore they should provide an arena for their display and use, and to maintain them, you could continue to do what you so enjoy, the build, Armortek would benefit from the interest generated in watching your builds and the public would benefit from being able to enjoy very large diorama like displays and possibly the driving of those machines, the fees going back to Armortek, it's win win win, now what's this about a snow speeder?

    @jeffturnbull9661@jeffturnbull96615 ай бұрын
    • Hi Jeff, great to hear from you. Thank you for your kind words. If you think you have seen frustration, wait until I upload the current part of the build which I can assure you had me vexed for a while😀 The old swear box got a real boost during this part of the build. Your idea would be amazing and I would love to do that, but I think Armortek have no problem selling these kits. I do have plans of my own to create a 1/6 scale tank zone on a piece of land which I have invested in....early days but it may be something I embark upon next year and will of course film the entire process. The snowspeeder is incredible....Star Wars fan? If so, you must tune in next week to see this incredible 1/6 massive movie grade model.

    • Love it, now I think I'd like a look at that swear jar you mentioned, I don't generally swear in my daily conversation (as seems to be the trend these days), but I can absolutely assure you that, were I to attempt such an undertaking, I would likely fill a grain silo or two, very little patience (also, while swearing, I tend to launch inanimate objects with some authority), so I'm really looking forward to your next video as well as your grander plans, enjoy your weekend

  • Kept waiting to watch this one for a „special“ moment on this Saturday afternoon. As again, this video passed way to fast. Such a joy to see you do this one! The difference in track width has more than one reason. The broader the track the better a heavy tank can ride on mud and unprepared soil. Your Tiger I has about 54 to 57 tons in reality, the Hetzer is about 17 tons. Also, the Hetzer hull is based on a Czech prewar design for a much lighter tank. IIRC the hull was widened a bit for the Hetzer, possibly also the track got widened. The Hetzer surely is a bit more heavy the it’s „father“, the Panzer 38t, but way lighter than a Tiger I…. 😉

  • Tony, another great video! When you began the Hetzer project I wasn’t really sure that I would enjoy it as much as your Tiger and Pershing series, but guess what; it’s as good in totally different ways. It demonstrates perfectly that ‘big’ doesn’t have to be better. I’m enthralled by not only the clever design that Armortek have brought to it but also your attention to detail that makes even seemingly insignificant details interesting. I love it, and were it not for lack of space for my own ‘tank park’ and wondering what to do with them after building them, I would be into this like a rat up a drainpipe!

  • Amazing progress, Tony. Really impressive to see the Hetzer taking shape so quickly. Those track links really are tiny in comparison to the Tiger, and I'm looking forward to seeing them installed in a future episode. Also the Jazz Inc SnowSpeeder sounds like a great addition to your workshop! Having just looked it up on KZhead, I hope you'll find space for it... 👍

The Jazz Inc Snowspeeder is incredible, but alas is not mine. My sons have purchased this to raffle off on their prize draw website, but allowed me the honour to unbox it. It is absolutely incredible and so detailed. Someone very lucky will end up winning this when they launch the draw next year.

  • Great to see how this running gears sits on this tank. One thing that came to my mind was why the leaf springs are upside down, well to me that is, as the majority of engineering and cars, trucks etc that have used it - seem to have the leaves the other way round! Do you have any thoughts as to why this is like this on this tank? As to the Jazzinc Snow Speeder, I'm all in for that, they do some spectacular work, and very jealous of those who have the space to display them. The Palitoy version was one of my favourite toys as a kid. I have been a massive Star Wars fan ever since my brother took me to see it in 77/78 at the age of seven. My partner will testify to this due to the back bedroom being full of 'Space Dollies!' 😀

    @MartinFutter70@MartinFutter705 ай бұрын
    • Hi Martin, good point and I don't really have an answer apart from the leaf springs on say a truck or car, would be bolted to the main chassis, whereas on this the wheels are on moveable axels and the tank does not have a chassis frame. I too am a major Star Wars fan and my loft space is full of my collection of nearly 20 years...One day if my older kids ever move out, my wife says I have a 50/50 chance of having one of the rooms to display my collection. 😂 The films blew my mind as a 10 year old kid and that magic has never left me. My two sons, now adults are also major Star Wars fans, so too is my 4 year old Grandson...The legend lives on🤣

Do you have spray can manufacturer and color codes that you used? I am trying to figure out the color code for the brown paint that you used for the wheels and the hull. I am not able to make out the specific color you used from the video. I can make out "FOSCO" but that is about it.

So the paint I used for this was as follows: Base coat(As I have so much left over from my Tiger) but was the German factory base coat for this tank was: 400ml Fosco Military Style SPRAY PAINT Army Spray Paint Dark Yellow (Dunkelgelb) The Brown is: Kings Army Rotbraun Ral 8017 Military Matt Spray Paint 400ml Vehicle Paint and the green is: Kings Army Olive Green Ral 6003 Military Matt Spray Paint 400ml. These are the colours used on this particular scheme. Hope this helps. Best regards...Tony
