  • Hmm, the excitement of turning it on has been postponed until next time! But he has this excitement for a week, which is good for me. I decided to take Tony's suggestion and paint it dark gray. I think videos are more persuasive than text in emails! Thank you Tony for an exciting week.

    • Thanks Peter. I have grown very attached to this little tank...not so little I suppose but when you see it up against the Tiger & Pershing, it does look small. Video of 1st road test up soon and I also take the Pershing out for a quick run to see what it looks like when up close to the Hetzer. Thank you for your continued support.

    @Th.G.M.@Th.G.M.2 ай бұрын
    • Thank you...The tracks will need bedding in and adjusting after a road test. I go through how I adapt the battery connections next week and get power to the drive motors for the first time. Once I have completed the road test, I will tension/remove links to suit. Thank you for your continued support.

  • Hi,Tony. It's looking awesome! I can't wait to see it down on the tracks. Have you had time to look into the weathering/battle damage aspect yet? I'm curious about what reference material you are using regarding camouflage colors, etcetera also. As always, I enjoyed your video. I always get chuckle and some smiles watching. Cheers!

    @michaelshort7297@michaelshort72972 ай бұрын
    • Hi Michael, thank you. Still thinking on the weathering front, but yes..I am looking to do some on this kit. I am using walk around the Hetzer "WA- OP by Hans-Heiri Stapfer. It is a great book and has helped me through the build process. I have chosen a camo scheme from one of the many options shown in this book. Thanks for your amazing support and great comments, it means a great deal to me.

  • It's so much fun to follow you on this buildup! But! Didn't you try the servos and engines before you install them?

    @larsosmark9612@larsosmark96122 ай бұрын
    • Hi and thank you. I did not test the motors ahead of installing them, as I was waiting for the control panel to arrive. Armortek do bench test everything ahead of dispatching, so I am always fairly confident that the kit works. I should have tested the servos(you are correct) but I dont have a servo tester and I can only test these when the other control gear turns up. I am expecting this next week, so "fingers crossed"🤞😀

  • As I was perusing some model kit the other day, I'm sure I saw this particular chassis with a flak gun mounted to it? So would I be correct in assuming this tank was utilised for all kinds of operations?

    @MartinFutter70@MartinFutter702 ай бұрын
    • Hi Martin, you would be correct. From what I understand, these Czech chassis became the bases for a variety of German tracked vehicles, including self-propelled artillery, tank destroyers, assault guns, reconnaissance vehicles, and a self-propelled 20mm antiaircraft gun.

  • You know I hadn't considered painting my tracks, was just going to leave them bare metal as any paint would wear off but having accepted your logic about what will and won't wear I have just ordered a can of Anthracite grey paint 🙂. Taking inspiration from your build I am in the process of restoring my Hetzer to motion after the enforced pause caused by the destruction of my Aluminium sprockets. I have corrected issues with my idlers and am borrowing your idea of using packing to sort out the sprocket clearence. I also manufactured a tool to allow me to put enough resistance on the sprocket to tighten up the bushes ( I still don't get how you got your torqued with needing to act against it but hey ho, lucky you 🙂) Also, just out of curiosity, how much do those two batteries weigh?

    @daniel_scholefield@daniel_scholefield2 ай бұрын
    • Hi Daniel. I should have stated to use matt paint..hopefully that's what you have ordered...I have just filmed its first test run(Road test) today(video up in a couple of weeks) and the tracks look great once the paint wears off the parts that come into contact with the surface. Hopefully you find the same. Glad that I have inspired you to get your Hetzer up and running again..I saw your pictures on the Forum and it looks great. Do you have the steel sprocket rings now? I did find that the tracks were slapping around a little, but have removed a link from each side and they are performing as I think they should now. I had no real issues cranking the taper lock...my wrench was able to apply the correct toque without moving the motors...I guess I was lucky considering your experience with them. The first road test has gone well, but time will tell. I must admit, I can see why the aluminium sprocket rings can wear as the tracks do not bind as well as the heavier tanks, but now I have tightened up the tracks, it seems to be binding correctly. I do mention this on the video. Batteries I am using are the Yuasa REC14-12 Cyclic VRLA Battery 12V 14Ah ones and the published weight of each battery is 4.2 Kg. Best regards...Tony

      @tonys_workshop@tonys_workshop2 ай бұрын
    • @@tonys_workshop Yes I have the steel sprockets now and will be mounting the tracks once the (matt) paint dries. I removed a link from each side before I even ran it as it looked way too slack and I was right. I only suffered as the tensioner on one side was not working but that's fixed now. Was curious on the battery weight as that was something that affected my Mark IV and played a part in me getting the LiPO4 battery which is a single unit weighing in at 3.9kg.

      @daniel_scholefield@daniel_scholefield2 ай бұрын
    • I too had to remove a link and this has improved the performance. I did look at that battery, but it was so expensive...A possible solution though, if I encounter similar issues. Hope the sprocket replacement goes well.

  • Very good work! It's a shame that Armortek doesn't have the Centurion. So will it be the Panther next? (as long as the woman allows it)😉😆

    @janhansmann9566@janhansmann95662 ай бұрын
    • Thank you. The Centurion would be a great model to build I agree. Not considering the Panther but would love to build the Leopard...but it is not being released until the end of the year....I am thinking already, but mind not made up yet. I still have a way to go on this Hetzer, so I have time to make up my mind. Thank you for your continued support.

  • Thanks again Tony, just a quick one, we can see the Pershing in the background and it looks like it now has a gunner (very cool) will you revisit the Pershing at any point for any last tweaks you did and anything you've had to do on the Tiger since you have it running about? Sorry know you're mid-build on this one just thought I'd ask. Have a cracking weekend.

    @WW1Russ8335@WW1Russ83352 ай бұрын
    • Hi Russ, I do take the Pershing out for a run when I road test the Hetzer for the first time. I filmed this today and the video will be up in a couple of weeks. The Pershing is an amazing model to drive as it replicates the full size heavy armour in the way it drives and sounds so well. Other than adding the gunner, I have not done anything to the Pershing other than a little bit of maintenance. I will be looking to do some adjustments on the Tiger soon...just the turret as the gear system has worked loose. Apart from the two Animatronic figures I have not added anything to the Tiger, but I do like the way age is looking good on it. I could film the process of carrying out some simple maintenance, but was unsure whether it would interesting to watch? Have a great weekend.

      @tonys_workshop@tonys_workshop2 ай бұрын
    • @@tonys_workshop Hiya Tony, that sounds great, even though I'm not a builder... yet, I'd personally watch the maintenance videos, I think others would find it useful as a how to guide and a heads up on what could work loose or be worth keeping an eye on.

      @WW1Russ8335@WW1Russ83352 ай бұрын
    • Hi Russ. OK...I will film the process on the Tiger when I am ready to work on it...then it would be good to get all 3 tanks running together...a king of 'tank off' thing....I will plan this and when the weather improves here, will get them all out in the yard for a run around.
