  • Tony: Nice paint job and decent touch to the project. Taking your time is an art in itself, you are not hurrying it and it will pay off.

  • Thanks Tony, another enjoyable video. Always interesting to see someone else's technique, and I liked your ad-hoc paint booth. One of my neighbours threw out a small white cabinet minus its drawers so I grabbed it to make a permanent booth with a surplus kitchen extractor fan in the back. Not necessary for airbrush acrylic, but useful for aerosols. I've got a longer air pipe for my airbrush now to reach my garage compressor which is pretty noisy up close, but I think I'll need some practice before tackling the real thing. Fingers crossed that your weather improves for a bit of outdoor action 👍

    • Thank you Keith. That is ingenious. I may have to resort to something similar if the weather does not improve here.

    • Thank you...much appreciated. Just need the weather here in the UK to improve so I can get the main hull outside and painted and then on to the camo scheme.

  • Hope the weather keeps to improve, as I would hardly do more than a week without an update! 😉 The brand of paint you use, well, it’s great for detail painting on my smaller scale builds. As others already have commented, enamels, or even artist oils are great for drybrushing. I did my time with acrylics, but more and more switch back to lacquer based paints. Those are more convenient to airbrush for me. But hey, it seems to work beautiful for you to use Vallejo! On aside note: today I made some few steps on a vehicle based on the Hetzer hull and running gear. It’s the armoured personnel carrier „Kätzchen“ (kitten) in 1/35 scale! 😃

    • So fed up with this weather. I am very much a newbie to model painting...only been doing it for a few years and I understand that better results can be had with enamels etc...I may progress on to this in the future. nice tank the Kätzchen...was it more of a personnel carrier? Thank you for your continued support.

      @tonys_workshop@tonys_workshopАй бұрын
    • Yes, as I wrote the „Kätzchen“ was planned as a APC, to replace the Sd.Kfz. 251. But the war was over with only a very few prototypes build. @@tonys_workshop

  • It never ceases to amaze me what you can achieve with some paint. Regarding painting the hull, you might consider making a small tent in your garage adding some heat and carry on. Just a thought. The details look amazing, well done! Have a great weekend/week. Thanks again for sharing. Cheers!

    @michaelshort7297@michaelshort7297Ай бұрын
    • HI Michael and thank you. I do have a spray tent, but I want to get to all sides of this and I found when I used it to help paint the Tiger, it was a little restricted in movement around the model and I missed some small areas. The weather is starting to improve so looking to use the Easter Bank Holiday to paint and apply the camo scheme. Have a great weekend and thank you for your continued support.

  • Nicely done, a smidge of paint always transforms lifeless plastic/metal into glorious parts! Dry brushing was never really my strong point, basic painting is never easy for me either! I'll get a gaming miniature or a small cheap kit to practice on then have a small meltdown with brain-ache fretting my waving of the hairy stick or airbrush won't cut the cheese!!! Especially when you belong to a local model club with members who bring back awards at Scale Model World in Telford every year!!! I just love to build and construct, all that fanny'ing around with paint is annoying... Just best to get the Lego out and have some fun 😆 Hope the weather improves up your end (insert your own joke there!) every time I think the weather is good for a spray, I'll get set-up and the wind comes from nowhere! 🙃

    @MartinFutter70@MartinFutter70Ай бұрын
    • Hi Martin, it certainly does....I am no expert and I agree, the build part is the best, but I continue to develop my painting skills as I have seen some amazing models which really do punch high as the paint job sets it off. I am nowhere near that level, but like to take my time and enjoy the results(if they work out 🤣) on completion. Ironically, it turned out that we had a perfect day today for spray painting outdoors, no wind, no harsh sun, no cold, but my wife said "NO Way! So...I have had a lovely day shopping instead😐

  • Tony, the devil is in the detail and by God, you’re the devil! What a difference these extra parts make to the Hetzer. I suspect that initial reviews of your model will be based on the superb level of detail, rather than on the whole model, because that’s what people really notice first. I’ve always wanted to make Armortek models but early on I realised that my fun would end as soon as they are finished, because I knew that I would quickly tire of driving them around, allied to having to create a ‘tank park’ somewhere in my house🥴 There is no doubt that space becomes a huge factor once you progress past the first one and I’m not sure that my family would take kindly to having at least one room, or a garage, dedicated to model tanks! How does your wife put up with your hobby? Nonetheless I am really enjoying your journey in pursuit of excellence and am looking forward to seeing the final iteration! Keep up the superb videos and craftsmanship.

    @peterrussell663@peterrussell663Ай бұрын
    • Thanks Peter. Totally agree...it is all about the attention to detail on these kits. Armortek put so much effort into the manufacture and detail on these kits, that I think the builder owes it to them to try and enhance and add to the realism. I love building these kits, but as you rightly say the best part is the build. I do enjoy driving them as well and I am working on the early stages of converting a small pice of land that I own into a tank range, as these tanks are far too big to be driving around and chewing up the lawn in your garden. Still a small amount of work on this kit to complete but held up on the painting by the weather....having said that today has turned out to be a perfect day for painting, but my wife has other plans😢. Thank you for your amazing support and hope you continue to follow my channel.

  • Enamels work better for dry brushing as they don’t skin as quick
