    • Well apparently, and this is just hearsay so take it with a grain of salt, DMC2 was supposed to be a different game, it would have supposedly been a sort of Tomb Raider clone. It’s possible that the original protagonist got turned into Dante or even Lucia was the original protagonist and a side character became Dante, although that’s just speculation.

The long skirt showed her chest, back and thighs. People couldn’t help but ask what kind of clothes they used. And this attitude of using himself as a woman as a weapon makes Agnus feel sick when he sees it.

  • Figured I'd throw in a few pieces of trivia here, in case anyone's curious! -Devil May Cry 1 was originally going to have quick-time events, but the dev team had to beg Kamiya not to include them due to already working to the bone on the game. (Source: Devil May Cry 3-1-4-2 Graphic Arts, Page 201) -Daigo Ikeno, Capcom artist and character, enemy and stage designer for Devil May Cry 2, revealed several tidbits about the game's development: That it was mostly scrapped together through the staff of Capcom's Arcade Division, given the greenlight by Capcom before DMC1 had even finished production, and that the decision to make Dante more taciturn was due to the producer of the game not liking Dante's wisecracking personality in DMC1. (Source: Devil May Cry 3-1-4-2 Graphic Arts, Page 204) -The Devil May Cry 3-1-4-2 Art Book was re-released in Japan a few months prior to DMC5's release. It was updated to include DMC4SE artwork and some concept art from DMC5, as well as the inclusion of crossover content from the last few years, such as Dante's appearance in Marvel VS Capcom Infinite, and his costume in Monster Hunter World in the "Extras" section, and some new interviews. It was released a few weeks prior to Capcom officially changing the timeline's order to 3-1-2-4. The original printing of the book was also recently rereleased in a hardcover form. (Source: www.amazon.co.uk/Devil-Book-Graphic-Japanese-Version/dp/4862464351) -A playable version of Vergil was found in the base version of Devil May Cry 5 shortly after release. It was only the boss version with the Yamato moveset, and Matt Walker would later go on to confirm that this was left in the game for testing the boss moveset (Source: www.siliconera.com/capcoms-matt-walker-talks-about-devil-may-cry-5-vergil-lady-and-trish-dmc5se/) -Other features found in the files included an unused taunt for Nero (Source: kzhead.info/sun/lbyrh7GZfoxpoZ8/bejne.html), an unfinished version of Vergil's World Of V; called "Kiss Of Death" (Sources: kzhead.info/sun/ZpmdaLdtnnqsY6M/bejne.html and devilmaycry.fandom.com/wiki/Removed_content#Moves), Clear Artwork for the Dante battle in Mission 20 (Source: kzhead.info/sun/qpyIaKyjbn-cl30/bejne.html), and text files relating to, among other things, Nero's Deluxe Edition Breakers, the Super Costumes for Dante, Nero and V, items relating to Goliath, Artemis, Geryon and Gilgamesh that are otherwise acquired via cutscenes, and text for an unused Co-Op Bloody Palace Mode. (Source: devilmaycry.fandom.com/wiki/Removed_content#Files) -In addition to various gameplay tweaks, DmC Definitive Edition changed several cutscenes. (All sources will be via this video: kzhead.info/sun/ndCohtucnWuXgZs/bejne.html) Examples include, but might not be limited to: -The shortening of Lillith's "The world is at last your bitch, as am I," line. The original version had her continue with; "Nothing left but to grab it by the hair, bend it over and fu-," before she's cut off by Mundus. (1:40) -Perhaps the most well known, the removal of Vergil's fedora in the Mission 2 cutscenes (20:03) -A new cutscene prior to Mission 16 was added (2:08:25) -Rather than zooming in onto Dante's demonic eyes, the final shot of the game has Dante and Kat walk away before Dante grabs Kat's ass. (2:45:27) -The manual of DMC2 includes mention of Easy Automatic Mode, in spite of it not actually being in the game. (Source: Devil May Cry 2 Manual, Page 16) -Speaking of DMC2's source code, when the leak dropped, people went through in an attempt to modify parts of the game, only to find out changing even one value of the code causes the game to not start at all. So much for modding it into something better. (Source: arch.b4k.co/v/thread/534659332/#534665835) -The infamous "dark soul with liiiight" line from DMC1 actually had multiple takes done of it. The chosen take was picked by Kamiya himself as he felt the voice crack made the scene more emotional. (Source: kzhead.info/sun/gtaJeLKunqCZo4E/bejne.html)

Rumors says the team originally wanted a Tomb Raider clone when creating the "original DMC2", which explains the gameplay mechanics and Lucia as MC. When Capcom demanded a DMC sequel, the game turned into DMC and Capcom placed the unknown director in it, which infuriated Kamiya.

  • Damn no one seems to know about the Vergil clone created by mundus that’s just chilling somewhere in the dmc universe

    @roastingpotato@roastingpotato3 жыл бұрын
    • Because associating that idea with ‘clone’ isn’t worth thinking about to most people. The clone idea is stupidly complicated, considering Dante hadn’t run back into Vergil by that point, why would Mundus have the ability to clone Vergil when he didn’t have Vergil, and why Vergil at that point, and a final why, why would that be associated with Vergil and not as a ‘clone of Dante’ that would have actually made some sense in the clone idea. Also, again, Dante thought Vergil was dead before running into him in prequel events just before DMC 3, so how on earth would he recognize and grown up version of his brother? They were kids were they separated, they hadn’t even gone through puberty, people tend to change drastically between cute little kids and grown up adults, even with them been teens then, I’m just saying, he wouldn’t have been able to identify Vergil based solely on his looks. Writing all of that off as a clone just turns it into an annoying mess. Besides, it’s more fun to think of Vergil as a lightweight by canon, that his idea of a ‘perfect disguise’ was to wrap his head full of bandages. I think that, save the one, horrible incident (stupidest argument I heard for clone was “Nuuuuu Vergil CAN’T be Gilver because Dante would never forgive him for Nell!!” Like…. He just killed quite a lot of people with that tree, and who knows who else with that tower…. But the gunsmith…. that’s what would have crossed the line???) Gilver would actually team with Dante for the jobs before revealing his master plan. It flows a bit better than “clone cuz clone” at least. Could much easily be explained by he made a one time deal, in yet another desperate search for power, than how and why they would have made a clone.

  • A few other miscellaneous theories, I remember one theory floating around before DMC5 launched was that Kryie was pregnant and that was the reason they didn't show her in game model before the game's release. Doesn't hold up very well since we never see her anyway but I still think it's a possibility. Berial (DMC4 boss) being Mundus' son. I don't remember any actual evidence but multiple other people I've talked to have at least heard this theory. Nero's "Fuck you" and Dante saying "Think you can beat me? Not in a million years" during Vergil's fights in DMC5 are jabs at DmC. Arkham was a librarian in Fortuna which is where he meets Vergil before DMC3. This explains Arkham's knowledge of Sparda and ties Vergil's opening scenes from 3 and 4 together. Olives. I think it's in one of the novels that says Dante exclusively orders his pizzas with pepperoni and olives despite actively disliking them. Vergil's having Beowulf in DMC5 is canon. It's been stated that Dante always sells his devil arms after a mission and that's why he doesn't have them in the next game. During Vergil's years after being Nelo Angelo he actively sought out his old weapons and managed to find Beowulf. He then reclaimed Yamato at the beginning of 5 but was never able to reclaim Sparda obviously because it was in the possession of Dante and Trish. This is why he uses the Mirage Edge instead. Along with the last one, Before the Nightmare shows Trish using the Artemis against Urizen, which is why it's kind of weird that Lady ends up as Artemis' power source instead.

He and RandomBlackGamer have been a plague on KZhead for DMC "content", given that they feel the need to make entire videos covering a sentence that someone from Capcom uttered offhandedly, or some random message a DMC fan dropped, and then spin speculation on it like it's monumental in the future of DMC projects and lore. Typically their videos begin by repeating the title of their video, followed by begging for followers and ways for them to earn money, then spending a few minutes talking about whatever the subject is with absolutely zero credible proof or sources on the matter. If they want to talk about their own personal ideas, that's perfectly fine. But they need to stop dressing it up as breaking news or confirmations from official sources when it couldn't be farther from that.

  • I don't know if you're still interested, but in regards to Gilver, what the wiki says is basically true. In the Before the Nightmare novel, it's stated that Mundus took battle data from Sparda, Dante, and Vergil to make "Black Knights" that wore armor made by Machiavelli, and sent them after Dante and Vergil. However, it's never said outright that this was Gilver. It's just implied since Gilver was stated to be wearing armor in the DMC1 novel, and would explain the Vergil similarities. It's really just the only thing that makes sense and fits with canon since Gilver is somewhat still seemingly implied to have existed. The implication comes from Morrison reminiscing about the events of the DMC1 novel in his first respective chapter of the BTN novel. This includes everything Gilver did, even if again, Gilver is never directly named. It's possible that it's not outright stated to be Gilver because of the perspective we get in this section of the novel. This is in the Trish chapter of the novel, and since Trish didn't exist at this point in time, and therefore wasn't involved, it makes sense that she would only have general knowledge. As for why Morrison never named Gilver, Morrison never knew Gilver was behind things. He wasn't present for most of the Gilver related incidents, so it again makes a sort of sense that he wouldn't name him. Still, it's all vague enough that if you *really* wanted to argue against this, you could. To source all this, you can read the summery of the Trish chapter here: drive.google.com/file/d/1sehBInbkahYDqQ3NzV3nyHPKljIdLysp/view or read this broken translation of the novel here: ia801006.us.archive.org/25/items/cr4theoriginaldevilmaycry/Devil%20May%20Cry%205%20-%20Before%20The%20Nightmare%20-%20EN.pdf It's easiest to just CRTL+F Trish's name to find the chapter.

    • Also, while it's not like you asked for it, there's a small fact about the location of Dante's office that could be fun to add that I haven't seen talked about anywhere else except in a reddit post from back in December. In the DMC5 art book (Japanese release only), there's an image of the deed to Dante's office. This deed has Tony Redgrave's name on it, and implies that the office is located in Redgrave. This location gets a little weird when you think about it though, so personally idk if it should be taken as canon. Here's the link to the reddit post: www.reddit.com/r/DevilMayCry/comments/jfma3r/in_the_dmc5_art_book_theres_this_piece_of_concept/ but if you wanted to double check for yourself, you can download the artbook and look at page 312 here (though the legality of that is mmm): originaldmc.github.io/DivinityStatue/Downloads.html Also fun is that this artbook has further proof that Dante pawns off his weapons to Enzo as there's three pawn tickets in there.

One other notes about the difficulty change in 3 though is that is apparently wasn’t even the first time they did that. In DMC1 on PS2 in the west on normal and hard you did 20% less damage and took 20% more damage on all difficulties. I didn’t know about that until very recently so it’s interesting how we got the harder version of these games twice. Also DMC3 vanilla here didn’t even have the good grace to give you any yellow orbs when you started like 1 did, you had to buy them all. Also I had no idea there was so little info about the PSP game. I legitimately thought the whole Dance Of Sparda subtitle was true so thanks for debunking it.

He's been known to harass other members of the DMC community. Him and John Fleer have practically made a business off posting clickbait videos with distinctly false information like what you said about his video on the Sparda PSP game but that's not the only one. They've also publicly attacked and insulted community members and DMC5 modders blaming them for 5SE not getting a PC release. They both have very defensive fanbases and use them aggressively to dox and spam anyone who called them out on their BS.

    • During my research I came across a number of things that I didn't include on this iceberg. This is my first video over an hour and tbh it felt like it would take forever while I was making it. But with all that extra info I was thinking about making a bonus iceberg of sorts. And I would definitely try to fit in more gameplay info. Thanks for the feedback. As for Jojo Wifi, I knew next to nothing about him to be straight. I mostly saw his videos come up while I was researching the Pinnacle of Combat game. I haven't seen much from him besides those and the Sparda video of course. From an outsider's view he looked decently professional. It isn't easy to make motion graphics, keep up an upload schedule, and make it all look consistent. Not to mention focusing on limited topics can be exhausting in a way (that might be just me). A lot of his videos looked click-baity, but if the info is legit it doesn't really bother me. After what I saw though I don't currently trust him to be factual. I've since looked at a few John Fleer videos and I think everything I just said applies there too. Looks nice; but slim on facts. If what you're saying about him and Fleer is true, that's a damn shame. There seems to be a lack of Devil May Cry "discussion" channels. Which sucks because I do think there is actually stuff worth talking about. I hope I was able to demonstrate that in this video. Jojo Wifi and John Fleer seem to be like the big names so if they're harassing people then that definitely doesn't make me feel good. However, I don't really have an interest in canceling anybody. If I had the opportunity to talk to them, I'd want nothing more than to be cordial. My primary concern is keeping misinformation from spreading, and if they can clean that up then I'll be happy. I mostly just want to focus on my own videos. Thanks for informing me.
