  • Hey everyone! I am blown away with how well this is doing and I can’t thank you all enough. I wanted to pin this comment to clear up some things I’ve seen mentioned in the comments a lot: “Kith” is kiss pronounced with a lisp and I use it to talk about *those* movies I pronounced Hostel wrong Salo is not a true story, it’s a fiction adaptation in a true setting much like apocalypse now Rest In Peace Junko

  • One disturbing thing to note about Friday the 13th is that the snake scene is all real. They really do kill a harmless snake for no reason. The pet snake's owner was told beforehand that their snake would be fine, but during the scene the actors were told to just improv it and decided to murder an innocent animal. The snake's owner was devastated. I can't bear to watch the first Friday the 13 anymore just because of that scene, despite it having been one of my few favorite slashers.

    • @RESURGAM. yeah, I found out about it when I watched it this year. I thought the snake scene seemed kinda too real and I was sadly correct. A lot of movies in those days involved animal cruelty, so I guess it's no surprise. Doesn't make it any better though.

    • @RESURGAM. I don't think so. The laws surrounding animal cruelty in media were (and sometimes still are) shaky at best. It doesn't help that it wasn't a conventional pet, there's a sad lack of sympathy for non-mammals, especially snakes.

      @bustanut5501@bustanut55013 жыл бұрын
    • @@bustanut5501 Well no. No matter what movie is being creating, there will always be a director. You can remove writers, cinematographers, etc but you can't remove a director as they are pivotal to a movie. Except for Snuff R73 as that guy stole 90% of MDPOPE for his movie.

      @billding9820@billding98203 жыл бұрын
    • @@billding9820 I'm talking exactly about "movies" like those you mentioned. Does someone who just cuts random clips (that aren't even their own) together to create a compilation really count as a director? Because those movies really sound more like compilations. On another note: I thought R73 is more of a website?

      @bustanut5501@bustanut55013 жыл бұрын
    • @@bustanut5501 You might as well call them a director as they direct their own project into what they want. The second to last tier however are paid to direct. So they are by definition "directors". The last tier is sorta walking the line but I choose to call them directors anyways because it's just easier that way. I guess "editor" could work too, maybe "DJ". Also, Snuff R73 is basically just MDPOPE, a mixtape.

Here's a rough outline of a song about a lost tarantula trying to find its way home: Verse 1: Our little tarantula was feeling free She scurried out of her cage, just to see The world outside, so bright and new But she didn't realize what she was about to do Chorus: She's lost, she's lost Trying to find her way home She's lost, she's lost But she won't be alone Verse 2: She wandered through the grass and the flowers Hoping to find a familiar tower But all she saw were strange sights and sounds She couldn't find a way to get back to her ground Chorus: She's lost, she's lost Trying to find her way home She's lost, she's lost But she won't be alone Bridge: But then a kind soul saw her all alone They picked her up and gently took her home And when she saw her cage, she knew she was found She was safe and sound Outro: Our little tarantula was glad to be back In the place where she felt most at home She learned her lesson and vowed to never roam But she'll always carry the memories of being lost, but not alone

  • In my freshman year in highschool, during my P.E./health science class, a police officer came in to show our class the dangers of distracted driving. I thought it was going to be one of those speeches you hear on commercials and all throughout elementary and middle school, but it wasn’t at all. The police officer said he was going to play a video and warned “if you are queazy and not good with blood, you might want to leave the room.” He played the video, which was just a collection of photos of accident aftermaths. The images started not too bad, like scrapes and just pictures of the cars, but it eventually got to pictures of people’s faces peeled off by asphalt, impaled by trees, missing limbs or their entire lower body, and with their bodies and skulls opened. I definitely don’t think it was legal to show some 14-15 year olds that kind of footage, but boy did it stop people from wanting to text and drive (or even driving to begin with).

    • @mercury_stuck_in_1984 They don't get necessarily more depraved further down the iceberg, but definitely more obscure/illegal. Also, the stuff further down is largely real footage, captured footage if you will, as opposed to being filmed on a set with a director. Sheen saw what he thought could be real, but wasn't, and the lower tiers are real and effectively won't get into the hands of a person like Sheen unless he goes out seeking it, and thus would know ahead of time what it is. Honestly, I think the Vomit Gore Trilogy deserves to be much lower due to the real depravity. Sure, some of the scenes are fairly campy with the use of literal dolls, but a lot of it is functionally abuse, as consent is reliant on the sanity of the party consenting, and no sane person would consent to these things. Sure, ethically gray area, but to film it, give it the loosest of plots in existence, and distribute? It's absolutely depraved.

It lost so much money, that now theaters just avoid showing NC-17 movies. Edits are made to make a film R rated so theaters will feel like they can actually get the crowds in to see them. ‘This Film is Not Yet Rated’ is a great documentary about how movies get their ratings and the effect that has on culture. It touches on ‘Showgirls’ and the X rated/NC-17 rating. Edit: extra fun fact - ironically, because of what the documentary has to show, the documentary itself is rated NC-17.

I've a hard time understanding this subject as I truly don't understand the movies that are just... torture porn. Real life is already so cruel, I fundamentally can't wrap my brain around glorifying it. And then the the ones based on real-life atrocities that exploit the story... I don't get it! My brain just goes '404 not found' when thinking about the utter lack of empathy toward real-life people that takes. Junko in particular had hobbies, friends, family...birthdays, tests, ups and downs like everyone else. The psychopathy required to turn that into a torture flick is incredible. (I hope that it was someone w/psychopathy bc at least then there's SOME semblance of not excuse, but explanation- if someone w/a standard level of empathy came up with that, that's far more terrifying because something is DEEPLY wrong with them.) So much rape and torture in these films, and for what? Fictional violence against women and children (folks in generally really but hoo boy is a lot of it obsessed with hurting women) makes no sense to me on a planet where so many terrible things happen daily. I'll be a wimp and stick with happy, or at least justified, endings in my fiction.
