The most aggravating plot twist ever. Prior to this, Camerlengo was the most likeable character in the movie.
He killed his father, The Pope, in the novel.
Think it’s aggravating here? It’s worse in the book... I literally screamed no when I read it (probs me overreacting XD)
LivingLikeLex In the book, it’s much worse. He kills his father.
Saw that twist coming the minute kohler phoned vittoria. Although I suspected Olivetti to be part of the conspiracy but I was genuinely surprised when he died like that
If anything I found it incredibly satisfying; a plot twist I absolutely don’t expect is a wonderful feeling
Dan Brown's masterpiece is the twist regarding the Camerlengo. When you look at him, you trust him immediately, he had this soft voice that disarmed you and inevitably made you trust him, only to turn out to be behind it all. Goodness, I love this movie!!
Good liars lie politely
Glad I first saw this before I knew Ewan because am sure it was kinda obvious to those who were big fans of his.
And like the saying and title goes, where there are Angels, there are also Demons.
@@vb8428 obvious?
@@kbanghart Yeah, where a famous guy is playing a villain. It has happened in a lot of Tv shows and films
"My allegiance is to the republic! The democracy!'
"My allegiance is to the church! TO CATHOLICISM!"
Star wars quote that's a classic
Only the devil deals in absolutes
*To democracy
Another reason why Biden shouldn't be president
Dude the charmelngo was my favorite character, this plot twist was crazy got me shook, I didn't expect it, I thought it would have been the head of Swiss guard
Same.
I agree was saying the same thing
Turns out the Swiss Guard is also the good guy
I thought so too in the book
"We are at war Anakin" -Obi Wan
The chancellor is not a bad man.
Clone wars
We are at war Dr. Selvig.
The critics trash them, but fucking hell I love these movies. Intense and entertaining and gritty and exciting to watch. Intense flagellation, good insight into chastity, and showing how fucking omnipotent people can be.
Because the books are way way better than this film and I highly recommend the book as it's my favourite Dan Brown book.
@@samuelw01 that's fine, but many of us still love the movie. Both are good.
Exactly
Bro why is ewan mcgregor ripping the collar off & then proceeding to aggressively undo all the shirt buttons so hot to me
Ewan is sinworthy😉
If someone ever wondered how would have been if Obiwan Kenobi turned to the dark side... here is a taste
I doubt that. He'd be much worse than this trickery.
@@servicemonkey1055 Agreed. This is more of what if Obi-Wan became a radical or fanatical Jedi.
Ewan MacGregor is an awesome actor!
He stole the show for me
I absolutely agree
No doubt there.
Hello there
Stellan Skarsgård too
Man, this plot twist with Camarlengo being the evil protagonist really messed up my brain when I read the book
Antagonist bud not protagonist lol
@@peterwilliams2887 For those who cheer for bad guys in movies he was protagonist :)
@@PrawilnaMordka 😑 no
I think i'm not the only one that felt really dissapointed with the Camarlengo, and in the book is way worse. Like someone said in a comment, he was the most likeable character prior to this. One of the best plot twists i've ever seen. Dan Brown is a genius and what a team are Hans Zimmer, Ron Howard and Dan Brown!
Not forgetting Akiva Goldsman and David Koepp!!! UPDATE: I absolutely wanted to believe it was an actual Illuminati (Commander Richter, Archbishop Simeon, the Hassassin, a couple of other cardinals and one Gendarmeria Vaticano officer) involved in the entire plot.
"Master Kenobi you disappoint me. Master Yoda holds you in such high esteem. Surely you can do better..."
Anakin! Obi-Wan has turned to the dark side.
Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, You're my only pope.
Please What is name of the song on 2:18
sgdhxhh zhzhhzhzh i think its Science and Religion by Hans Zimmer.
THERE’S THE DOOR - feel free to go through it any time
@@zacharydaly5328 me?
There’s something poetic that the only one that was hurting the Carmarlengo was himself, even dying by his own hands
Road to hell is paved with good intentions
That moment when Ewan McGregor plays a character that gets burned while 4 years prior he played a character that watches someone burn
when you get the impostor, but he kills you before you could call a meeting.
Oh. My. GOD. It was never JarJar. *It was Obi-Wan the whole time!!!*
When I first saw the chamalango I pointed at him and said : "that's the bad guy"
They should make a movie in Camerlengo perspective, his plan is pretty interesting.
Ewan McGregor such an underrated Actor
Doctor Selvig found out that Obi Wan turned to Dark Side.
0:52 that voice tho
I actually wanted for Camarlengo to get away with it, he is so charming.
You mean Ewan is?😉😛
OM goodness. Tom Hanks and Ewan Mcgregor? HOLY SHIT, THAT IS FUCKING AWESOME!! XD
O really like Ewan... First: he's an amazing actor, the accent also he's really handsome ❤️
Its even darker in the book. The Pope was actually Camerlango's father. He did... *something* with a nun on accident and the law is that they're not allowed to have children. I was very suprised by this cuz I interpreted the quote "Your father" (in the books) as god. But no, the Pope took him in secretly raised his son. Camerlango actually commited self-immolation out of guilt instead watever this reason is
I believe the Pope had a child with a woman but with artificial insemination, and Camerlango was strictly against science, that's why he killed him :)
So he basically doesn't have a real own child
He didn't do anything, artificial insemination was the cause
From what I understand, the pope told the Camerlengo that he had a child and that he "owed a debt to science". However, the Camerlengo was enraged him and he murdered the pope without knowing that he was, in fact, the son (through artificial insemination). It is this latter revelation, made to him by the Great Elector during the confrontation scene (that we never really got to see re-enacted in the move), that drove him to self-immolation.
@@YiftertheShifter1 yeah he didn't know he was the late pope's son
The funny thing is that if he truly believed in god and his omnipotence, any actions/claims by man should be irrelevant as nothing can threaten God's power. By doing what he did wasn't he showing that he had some real seeds of doubt somewhere in his mind?
20teamplayer that why the movie even book called angel n demon, think bout it,angelis represent as god loyal worshipper and demon?nothing but do evil, plant seed of doubt and lie.
He was too smart to be a catholic. Subconsciously, he knew that scientific progress is at odds with religion. Consciously, he wanted to protect the church and the religious belief he was thought as a kid. This inner conflict made him go mad.
@@tj8870 Catholicism is false. It is a seperate religion that split up from Christianity with the Roman Empire. True Christianity came from the historical event of Jesus' death and resurrection. This lead to many first generation Christians willing to die as martyrs for Jesus Christ.
@@tj8870 Scientific progress doesn't have to be at odds with religion. Georges Lemaitre, who more or less conceived the Big Bang, was a Catholic. It was more like a weapon of science being used as an act of God.
@@blacktigerpaw1 It is at odds because the more is explained by science, the less is by religion. Furthermore, the purpose of religious is to give answers, hope and connect us. If science can stop aging, cure diseases, emotionally fully and connect us than why do we need religion? It is because we feel fill a void and fear death that religion exists. If you can fully your needs without it than you avoid its negatives points (division and conflicts with those who believe differently).
im here to comment hans zimmer's music is too damn epic
What's the name of music?
Владислав Журавков "H2o", Hans Zimmer.
@@eagleone08 Not all heroes wear capes. Thank you.
@@tatamak23 in Complete Soundtrack its called "Bad Carmarlengo"
I’m glad that I hadn’t read the book before seeing this in cinema. It caused me a lot of shock.
2:28 - Will Smith: "Oh, that's hot. That's hot."
Security cam turns into an actual scene.
Remember that time when Obi-Wan was bad and framed people to take over as Pope? Yeah, I do too.
FC this came after Star Wars.
You know what, I think that knives out and this film had the best plot twists. I know, these are two different movies but I was shocked by both of them in the end.
That Dan Brown plot twist 😂😂
This was a brilliant movie, especially the twist which almost no one saw coming
You really should read the novel it's 1000 times better
at the end he was supposed to know he was the biological child of his late pope and his mother was died in an explosion when he was 9 . this was the real plot twist to me which stunned me . after that he burned himself. gosh! this plot isn't mentioned in the movie !
Yes it is
2:28 the music tho
-It isn’t finished. -Oh, yes it’s finished. -You underestimate my power.
The villain who wants to hurt himself and seeks sympathies from others. Wow.
It’s part of the 36 Stratagems
Why surprised?? That what villains do
i would’ve preferred if the brand was the illuminati diamond, it looked so cool in the book
I was actually thinking about that, even in the cover of the edition by transworld publications, the two keys were there instead of the sixth illuminati symbol. I wondered why but not now.
Honestly when Skaarsgard's character had this happen, why did he not just walk away in the corner of the room and say "check the cameras" to everyone.
2:23 God that was hot!
Liu Peihua no
The chest or the marking thing?
YES
Definitely. No. Pun. Intended.
PEY13 go sway e girl
god this man's voice...i am so in love with it he could say anything to me and i would believe him
Obi Wan is Darth Camerlengo
The one movie in the end where Obi Wan didn’t have the high ground 😢
I made sure to read Angles & Demons before I saw this one and while I was kind of disappointed in how they omitted the darker aspects of the novel, this was a pretty good movie.
I hated that the movie was so smart and intricate all through out, but then they figure it all out by just watching CCTV footage of explaining all the plot in five minutes.
That’s usually how it works in real life though...things aren’t that complicated
I don't usually watch films about religion or the church but I really did enjoy this one, especially with all the Ewan McGregor Easter eggs I found. 1. Ewan McGregors character flys a helicopter in the film. In reality his brother is a fighter pilot for the RAF. 2. His commits suicide by burning himself to death at the end of the film. If you remember in revenge of the Sith he watches Anakin Skywalker burn at the end of the film due to him turning to the darkside. Ewan McGregor gained the high ground and watched his friend suffer. Gaining the high ground In angels and demons was lost and he suffered the coniqensues but a lot more worse.
Interesting coincidences but not really a big deal
And now Obi-Wan actually gets burned in the new Kenobi series
This was an amazing plot twist
I love this movie SO MUCH
The camerlengo is supposed to brand himself with the Illuminati diamond
Camerlengo was an example of "You either die a hero or you live yourself to be a villain.".
I just found out that the Archbishop that gets shot is the actor who played Paolo on Friends 😂
I can't believed Ewen McGregor played the villain in this movie, it's like am seeing an evil Obi-Wan Kenobi.
3 facts about this underrated masterpiece 1. Ewan McGregor (Obi Wan) plays the villain 2. Hans Zimmers Soundtrack is one his best 3. In the script only stands "He was deeply conflicted about the emplications of his work. He needed spiritual guidance" (but not: 'like Galileo.'). So I ask myself it improvised by Stellan Skarsgard?
“He was deceived by a lie, we all were”.
Good on both of them too being in two Disney+ Star Wars series’ this year lol.
This plot twist blew me away.
how the hell he looks even better in this than in his role in 2010’s istg this man doesnt age
The Chancellor: *Goooooooooooood*
i read the book before i saw the movie. i was absolutely dumbstruck by this revelation. and while i did not savor it quite so when i watched the movie months later... the acting and the soundtrack made up for it. i enjoyed the book more, of course. but i suppose that was to be expected. books are generally better than movie adaptations
Sinema tarihinin en entrika dolu sahnelerinde ilk 100'e rahat girer..
Kesinlikle. Gerçek bir ters köşeydi...
Planned everything perfectly - forgot there's a camera in the room 24/7.
High ground!
Being well negetive by critics this is the most challenging and bestest movie ever
That's some game of thrones shit right there 😂😂😱😱 this was a good movie tbh
Oh the thrill the theme tracks create! No words. This movie had one of the best soundtracks ever.
I love how the cardinal tells all the other cardinals, when they want to make the camerlengo the new pope, that they shouldn’t give themselves over to frenzy just bc the camerlengo is popular now. He was right!
2:47 What did that guy thought those armed security guards were going to do if he attempted to kill the Camarlengo?
He probobly thought the Carmarlengo killed the other guy
I think he knows Camerlengo is a bad guy, that's why he tries to kill him.
He was overcome with rage, not logic.
Patrick is so perfect and cute i love him ♥
Chrissi 17 Ewan mcgregor
2:45 Trying some new spells for Harry Potter. Edit: 2:45
LOOL
That spell make people shoot in or enemy
hahahahahahaha
lmao deadass
Wish I could wipe my memory of reading the book so that I can re-experience my dismay at the Camerlengo and the anguish this plot twist brought when I first read it.
The only problem I ever had with this movie was that Simeon reacts to the shot before they actually fire the weapons lol
I love this film!
The first time I watch this movie with my dad and this scene appeared I said to my dad I knew it because I actually said since the first moment we saw the carmalego I said what if he’s the villain omg what if it’s him. And I was surprised I was actually right.
Also Kohler is supposed to be in a wheel chair
Ewan Mcgregor has always been the Space Jesus.
It makes sense why the assassin guy didn't kill the Robert, because he didn't care whether Camerlengo was successful or not, he wanted to get the money. also he said when leaving these people are men of god, implying the way they might think is different.
First the Jedi Order, now the Vatican, Obi-Wan ends up losing things closest to him.
This movie is basically Obi Wan Kenobi in an alternate universe where HE'S the one betraying, HE'S the one getting caught on the security tapes, and HE's the one burning in fire. And whaddya know, in SW the new "hope" is Luke and here, the new "Pope" goes by Luke¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This is what Palpatine was afraid of, else he would have chosen Obi Wan instead of Anakin as his apprentice. Obi Wan would have been too powerful.
Every Catholic is raised to protect the church, even from within.
I saw.... a security hologram
In the Book, It was the CEO and Leader of CERN, Maximilian Kohler, who came to Camarlengo Ventresca in this scene, he was old and had a wheel chair, he was shot and died in his wheel chair next to Langdon, and it wasn't Father Simeon whom Ventresca Called "ILLUMINATUS!" but Captain Rocher from the Swiss Guard
Who else figured out just by looking that Father Simeon ("Illuminatus") was actually Paolo the Italian Guy from Friends?
I always thought it would have been tom hanks character that ended up being head of the Illuminati
clarke griswold really?
Louiemeister no lol
That's some Now You See Me twist.
People who thinks Harry Potter plot twist was good should see this movie
The Archbishop who gets shot after Richter is played by Cosimo Fusco, who also played Paolo in Friends.
The ultimate sacrifice.......hats off to him
Y aqui es la primera vez que ewan mcgregor es doblado por oscar flores
Swiss guards were trigger happy.
The Blood of an Angel and the body of a Human !!! Disgusting !!! Those Demons, dont deserve our Blood !!!
Ewan was the perfect likable character to sell this betrayal.
Hans Zimmer is awesome.
Patrick is sneaky bastard @:
How dare you join the dark side, Obi Wan !!!
The problem with people like Patrick is their fanatism. They are so consumed by it, that they don't only refuse to listen to others, but decide to use violence.
ok i thought he was gonna stamp the iron thing onto the guy AHAHAHHAHAHAH
Whats crazy is the accuracy between cern and the god partical after this book was wrote
The best scene in the entire movie imo.
When I saw this movie for the first time and saw this part, it was an interesting plot twist
