Why hunt coyotes?
As 4th generation ranchers and farmers, hunting coyotes is not just a hobby or a pastime for O'Neill Ops. They have a duty to protect the cattle that they raise for food. For them, predator hunting is not merely a sport, but a way of life.
Coyotes are presently the most abundant livestock predators in western North America, causing the majority of sheep, goat, and cattle losses. For example, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, coyotes were responsible for 60.5% of the 224,000 sheep deaths attributed to predation in 2004.The total number of sheep deaths in 2004 comprised 2.22% of the total sheep and lamb population in the United States, which, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service USDA report, totaled 4.66 million and 7.80 million heads respectively as of July 1, 2005. Because coyote populations are typically many times greater and more widely distributed than those of wolves, coyotes cause more overall predation losses. The United States government agents routinely shoot, poison, trap, and kill about 90,000 coyotes each year to protect livestock.
Coyotes typically bite the throat just behind the jaw and below the ear when attacking adult sheep or goats, with death commonly resulting from suffocation. Blood loss is usually a secondary cause of death. Calves and heavily fleeced sheep are killed by attacking the flanks or hindquarters, causing shock and blood loss. When attacking smaller prey, such as young lambs, the kill is made by biting the skull and spinal regions, causing massive tissue and bone damage. Small or young prey may be completely carried off, leaving only blood as evidence of a kill.
In the absence of hunting pressure practiced by rural people, urban coyotes are losing their fear of humans, which is further worsened by people intentionally or unintentionally feeding coyotes. In such situations, some coyotes have begun to act aggressively toward humans, chasing joggers and bicyclists, confronting people walking their dogs, and stalking small children. Non-rabid coyotes in these areas sometimes target small children, mostly under the age of 10, though some adults have been bitten.

You can see racoon, opossums and armadillos out to 400, hogs and deer clearly identified to 1000 yards, and cows at 1.5 miles. Mice and rats out to 200 but they look like white or black hot blobs, you can identify them at around 30 yards or so depending on their size. I have watched raccoons at 200 plus yards climbing in trees. Owls and other birds nesting, and squirrel nests give of a slight heat signature but you gotta be paying attention to resolve them. The outline setting is unique in that it easily identifies shapes at longer distances for recognition between deer and hogs. It is truly an amazing scope. If you are looking at entering the market it is a big pill to swallow but trust me save up and get the 12 micron core it does what a lot of others wont.
For $ 8000.00 I would hope it had killer optics.

Synchronized hunting? You guys make it look easy. Great video.
no annoying soundtrack,no pointless narration...just gets on with the job. Nice work.
It’s been a long time since you last posted, still enjoy watching these.
The clarity of that NV SCOPE, in the beginning of the video was awesome. So clear, looked like daylight.
Thank you for your service to our country.
I lost my two Jack Russells to these things. If you are offended by this, just picture your pet being eaten alive by a coyote. I miss my dogs.

You guys are good. Thank you for being such conservationist
@planet penitentiary it's starvation or disease that'll kill them if we don't manage their population. Also those coyotes are destroying livestock, which ought to have a right to live. Right? I don't know what will kill the human predators, I'm sure something will if they get too out of hand. I appreciate your passion.

Extraordinary video folks! Love the shooting sync when 2 Coyos are down at once. Happy new year to you all
Nice shooting fellas. Love the one taking a dump.
Love the synchronized shooting. Good stuff guys!
How does a synch shot work?
Here comes my only favorite channel in KZhead again. Thanks mate.
🍻
Something that I did notice about this video, is the placement of your shot on a coyote as opposed to a hog. You appear to go for the shot in line with the shoulder joint on a coyote, whereas with a hog you try to get a neck shot each time. Is this because of the difference in the muscle build of each type, and that that coyote is a much lighter beast? Just curious.
So do you guys make use of all that fur, like make blankets or anything with them, or is coyote fur not used for anything? just curious if you guy's get anything out of them

ricefield_man I’m pretty sure he had a second shooter because in a few clips I can hear him counting down. They are pretty synchronized though
ricefield_man 6:53 could have been a double kill. Depends if the bullet passed through to the other coyote
@ LOL Yea but better than getting shot right before finishing making little coyotes. That would seriously suck :)
Only been a sud for a few weeks cool to see a new vid.. Love seeing the team work with timingshots!!! Awesome Which one is running the semi-auto and what is he using I can tell it's a AR platform because I can hear the spring in the buffer tube twang LOL
Nice shooting . It looks like some times there were 2 shooters at the same time where 2 were going down. Or am I missing something. Nice work !!!!
As na old farm kid, I really appreciate what your doing for ranchers and farmers. Do they pay you a bounty? Pay for ammo? You just do it for sport? Thanks!
Love the 'two with one shot effect'! rofl!
How do they do that two with in one shot?

Odd question as I'm not much of a shooter but I find this interesting...what do you all do with them after they are killed?
"Honey, I shrunk the coyote population".
Those were some very clean shots guys ! Well done !
Hello can you tell me with which weapon you use to hunt coyotes and which telescope and silencer you use ?
I don't know the first thing about hunting but enjoy watching these videos. Do the bullets pass thru the animal or do they get lodged in the animal?
Most pass through
Thats why they wait for a good shot like hills or trees behind the animals
mostly depends on the bullets construction some are made to disintegrate on impact others are designed for deep penetration and expansion.
@@williamlocklear1283 With the rifles they are using and the thinness off a coyote (skin and bones) I imagine most just pass through.
Agreed. :)
Wow, long-awaited hunt. 👍
Quick question. Im not opposed to you keeping your cattle safe. But i noticed you had carcasses in youre field? Wouldn't you move them away from the cattle to hurd to coyotes away? Im Just wondering. If you lack equipment to, thats completely understandable. Have a great Christmas
Quick question, what caliber rifles were you using. Also, were some of your rifles using sound suppressors? Thx for the video
I love how coordinated the hunters are... "one" shot and two animals go down.
I was wondering how they were doing that. Evil little bastards.
I'm here for the night vision quality
Anthonyjr Fierro if you have the money you can buy night vision that is marriage with infrared which makes it look basically like daylight out just in black and white they’re very incredible piece of equipment but also very expensive for the high-end ones best ones are restricted for the military use only. They also use long range infrared lights. that are invisible to the naked eye but it light up the the field like day out to a couple hundred yards. The good scopes and light are pretty cool AND expensive. But if you loose one cow it will pay for itself!!!
On some of the images you can see the heat signatures of field mice and the projectile as it passes thru the predators
Belo video..Q luneta VC estar usando??
How do you dispose of the bodies? Is there a market for the skins?
Flys and maggots
Yep, sell the pelts
What do you think?
I hate gutting and skinning, stinkiest job in the world and i reckon dogs would be worse than sheep and goats, plus you dont get benefit of meat. Wow. New appreciation for the 100. A massive amount of work
Beautiful shots
Any insight as to why multiple animals go down with a single shot? Is it shrapnel? Concussion from the bullet strike? I'm not even sure what to search.
Ah, more than one person shooting, only one person filming? You ever think about that?
@@Sarconthewolf Nope. Because its highly improbable to shoot that precisely together.
@@user-nd3lx1zg9t Sorry, but on some of the videos, you can hear them counting....1..2..3 and then the shots are fired. No shrapnel from bullets, no shock wave. 2 shooters and sometimes more on other videos. The reason they count is that the hogs start to run at the sound of the first shot. So they shoot at one time to start.
Please can you tell me what type of thermal binoculars you use and how much do they cost?
3:57 hello Mr.Mouse :)
