Texas Hunter Eliminates Hundreds of Feral Hogs with Military-Grade Sniper Scope
Feral hogs are tearing up Texas and hunters are fighting back with the help of cutting-edge night vision and thermal imaging technology.
The Trijicon OASYS UTC-Xii is a high-performance thermal clip-on sight which is currently fielded by US Military and elite special operations units.
The UTCxii is designed to be used as a pass-through device mounted in front of an existing day scope. The UTC xii is compatible with day optics ranging in magnification from 1x to well over 10x. With a detection range of 2600 meters, the UTCxii is an excellent optic for long-range targeting and surveillance.

** Why Do We Hunt Hogs? **
Feral hogs are a non-native and invasive species in Texas. Each year hogs cause millions of dollars in damage in the form of damaged crops, contaminated water supplies, broken equipment, transmission of diseases and injury to livestock.
Feral hogs compete with native wildlife for resources and also prey directly on the eggs and young of ground nesting birds and will actively hunt small mammals, frogs, lizards and snakes.
Due to their intelligence, adaptability, and prolific breeding habits, traditional methods of hunting and trapping have been largely ineffective in reducing the feral hog population. The introduction of night vision and thermal optics has greatly increased landowners' ability to mitigate the destruction caused by feral hogs.
Feral swine are not considered game animals in Texas and may be hunted by any means or methods at any time of year.

@R. Sharp Normally to get an animals attention to lift it's head or to get it to stop moving if it's running, you would do a "call" for that animal, like grunt or squeal. They have absolutely overrun some parts of the state and can attack horses and other domestic animals. their natural predators have been mostly eradicated from the state, so they are running rampant.

What a nice, level-headed comment. Refreshing.
My uncle lived in Texas and the hogs were a serious problem
some parts of I-40 thru tx and NM they have to shut it down because of so many crossing the interstate.
We had some here in NY but they eliminated them. It was against the law to kill them because it scatters them . The state trapped them out . They were in the county next to mine but never saw them when there wasn't a no hunt law . There were others in other parts of the state . Texas has 2.6 million of them. They can have babies three times a year . What ever amount these guys killed ,probably triple that were born at the same time
the detail in the night vision is nuts. I mean the texture , the clarity. Some of these shots look like a color filter over HD footage.

Feral hogs, have been tearing up farmland all across the country. My husband hunted them in Ohio and Kentucky, with a model 70 in 22-250. Starting in the 1950's in to the 1990's. He loves to watch this.
If I ever hear some disembodied voice say "Hey, whatchu got there, bud?", I'm diving behind the closest cover, zig-zagging on the way there.
Good shooting. I live on a ranch in central Texas and have an ongoing problem with pigs. Have two twelve foot drop traps, but they just keep on coming. People who haven't experienced dealing with these nasty disease carrying crop destroying varmints have no business commenting on your method of eradication. Keep it up.

What diseases do they carry? I am all about thinning the bastards out.
Rats can be cute if you know them, too. Cockroaches are just fascinating. The problem with all these videos I am seeing is that shooting kills too few, traps don't trap all, not even most. And miss two of the porkers and in two years you have a hundred.
Anyone who disagrees with the killing of these hogs has CLEARLY never seen the damage they do to not only to the land they roam, but to livestock, humans and dogs a like. These hogs are EXTREMELY territorial and will kill anything without a second thought, even something 10x their size over grazing space. I've walked out to see a horse gutted in my pasture by a hog because they were in their way of grazing (surveillance cameras absolutely everywhere, I watched this scary shit go down in HD). These hogs are an absolute menace to each and every thing they come in contact with, not to mention they breed like crazy. Producing more piglets than we can keep up with. They need to be eradicated. I'm an animal lover to my core but in this situation, the means justify the end. They are an invasive species that destroys everything around them, not to mention this man in the video goes for the kill shot every time, ensuring the animal doesn't suffer unnecessarily. That jurking you see after the hog goes down are muscle spasms, everything goes through when they die. Trust, each and every hog he shot died instantly. No pain and no suffering.
Luna Y Well said Luna. People have no idea of the extent of horrific damage that these invasive beasts cause. Unless you’ve seen the gutted carcass of a little fawn or a destroyed wheat field, you don’t have the right to comment. If you’ve had the little family mutt eaten alive or your garden torn out by the roots you deserve to speak about the morality of exterminating these vicious beasts. Hopefully the raiding herds of these savage hogs can be brought under control in infested regions so the children can play outside in their yards again.
