Amazing experience
This really makes me miss moose hunting. I was 13 when I shot my first moose. I live in a small village in Alaska and we hunt moose every year to survive because we’d go broke otherwise as the store meats are far too expensive. It’s our village tradition to give our first moose to the people of the village via potluck, so I shot two moose in one week and that was a really amazing week. Some of these shots are really amazing shots. It’s great to see people hunting moose to eat and not just for trophy

@@yandenditt I don't moose hunt but I do hunt whitetail deer. A head shot is great if you are 100% confident in the shot. There are two problems with head shots. There are few things worse, at least for me than wounding a deer. I don't want the animal to suffer.
I am from Acrica and we are use to tough animals, but I must say these Moose is also really tough to take shots in the vitals like that and sometimes needs a second shot

I just got my moose in the Northwest Territories of Canada near Ft Liard. He wasn't as magnificent as these bulls, but 10 point antlers. I got 420lbs of meat from it, so I estimate he was about 750lbs. He was shot using a 375 Ruger Alaskan and a Leupold 2.5-8 x 36 with 250gr GMX bullets. He was shot at 409 yds.
Congrats on your moose! That’s very exciting
Well done👍
Well done and thank you for the information on your rifle, scope and choice of bullet. I would think that if you were able to get 420 lbs of meat, he'd weigh about 850-900 lbs on the hoof at least. Am I wrong ? Great shot by the way !!

As long you don't kill the female and try hard to deliver a one shot kill or the most unpainfull kill to the animal, I say we're good. It’s good to see some people have spent sufficient time and energy in their marksmanship to NOT rely on shooting sticks to deliver an effective shot on target.
We support any legal means of ensuring that shots are placed on target and fewer animals suffer unnecessarily.
@@canadaintheroughtv of course you do, but do you understand the point I’m making?
Yes, but shooting sticks are not a crutch, they are an added level of stability that helps make bad shooters good and good shooters better. There is no negative to using shooting sticks
@@canadaintheroughtv I under stand what your saying… but what I’m seeing is more and more crutches that shooters are using to support their failure to practice basic marksmanship. Shooting properly is an essential skill of hunting- putting a curve on it to make all students pass just dumbs the entire climate down.
@@canadaintheroughtv What he's saying is if you spend enough range time you don't need the shooting stick. Those 200 - 250-yard shots you should be making while shooting offhand easily with or without a scope, a shooting stick, tripod, or any other aid. If you're not it shows a lack of proficiency, preparation and commitment to your craft. Too many segments in this video you're pumping 2-3 rounds in the animal when it should only take one, again that shows a lack of proficiency, or preparation in setting up your rifle. Your videos I've seen, you regularly shoot at moving animals, a practice that violates the simplest of hunting ethics: Don't shoot unless you are sure you have a clean shot.
this is one of the best kill shot videos i have seen..

In my opinion if you hunt for just the antlers, you don't know the true meaning of hunting 🤙🤙
@@Danielchavez-fn6mh I appreciate the horn set on a big bull, that isn't to take anything away from one with smaller horns. I understand hunting for sport with more populous animals like deer, maybe not so much something like a moose. I agree that hunting shouldn't always be about shooting the biggest animal. But as everything else hunting has different aspects. I didn't mean to take anything away from the beauty or honor that comes with hunting for food.

Thanks for watching. Though we try and harveat mature bulls, the size of the antlers isn't our priority. Harvesting a good bull to help feed our family and friends.
I think some of the bulls we probably older in age rather than younger and that's why the horn sets apeared smaller. The body size on each of the moose were that of a mature bull.
younger bull better meat. the older ones get to pass on their genetics and produce bigger bulls. bigger isn't always better if your hunting subsistence. I'd agree with you if we were trophy hunting.

Thanks very much for watching our videos. We shoot a variety of calibers and grain, but 30-06 and 300wsm are some of our favorite calibers and 180grain when it comes to moose. We prefer to shoot moose in the lungs and heart. Even though our first shots are typically on mark and vital, we try to always put the moose down quickly with a follow up shot when possible, as they can still run off for a good ways before succumbing to the first shot.

I can't wait to hunt in Canada I'm gonna move to Canada and I was wondering if you have any great locations for hunting
There is pretty much great hunting no matter where you go. Size and number of a particular species can vary depending on where you are but good hunting is usually just a few hours away.
@SalNova15 We don't have a second amendment but there are many millions of guns here of all varieties, including semi autos. We have unrestricted firearms that are pretty much impossible for the government to know we own them. There is quite a large gun and hunting community here and firearms aren't going anywhere for a very long time.
@SalNova15 I agree. But it's not just Canada, the entire western world is struggling with a huge push from authoritarian governments trying to infringe on our rights, the US included. All I'm saying is there is still a very rich firearms culture here and many of us own and operate them. There is also a huge outdoors culture and we can essentially explore and camp for free at will. Even though things are tough, sometimes people tend to sensationalize everything that's going on and make it sound much worse than it really is.
