Imagine if the team didnt "pout" for about a week after Jake was traded. They would probably be in already. Its never good when you have to rely on other teams to lose to get into the playoffs.
Off topic, Question. Karlsson looks lost at times, I haven't seen him this uncertain. Not sure why. Coaching issue, not adapting.

Ned was in net for the Colorado collapse. We have 2 mediocre goalies. They aren't the problem. The mediocre roster is.

The biggest concern I have in resigning Ned; we saw him have flashes of brilliance as a back-up before in Car, yet give that starter duty in Det didn’t work out great. So I, not in the instant “we got to sign him!” camp. I think it comes down to what he wants and who else is available.

If they played defense in front of Jarry like they did for Bed we wouldn't be having this discussion I don't know how many times I heard Ray bourque talk about how the penguins left Jarry out to dry. I don't get to watch the games I have to listen to them so I trust what hear from Ray bourque over the radio.
Yep. This team has been mediocre to bad all year. The goal-tending tandem is even and not good. Neither one is winning a Cup. Dubas didn't have good goal-tending in Toronto. Must win games mean the team gave away too many during the year. Even Sid was bad after Jake was traded. Blaming one person is odd.
I would hesitate to say that if Ned had been left in, it would have been a 3-3 game going into overtime. Jarry is not making the essential saves that he needs to.
When Ned got more time, I laughed because they all crashed down in front of him like we used to do in crappy beer league when we had horrible goalies. He settled into being #1 nicely though.
If we win out we have a roughly 56% chance of making it. Flyers are of no issue. The Caps play the Flyers and the B's so that bodes well for us in them losing at least 1. The big one is the Islanders--if they lose tonight, then our options really open up because we would be against the Wings for the MC3 OR the WC2 meaning that there are three teams (WSH/PIT/DET) for two spots which is better than 3 teams for 1. I expect the Bs to beat the Caps; the Isles might finally be due for a clunker; and let's go HABS!!! LOL

Isn't this the same situation the Penguins have been in every time with goalies the past decade? Fleury got beat out by Murray, Murray got beat out by Jarry, Jarry getting beat out by Nedeljkovic. There is no debate here, Ned is the guy.

Shoulda started Jars against Boston. Ned neeeeeeeeeeeded a break. Would have been a spark with Jars between the pipes. Chips might still fall in place. Calling it now. If somehow it's a regulation win and in over NYI, I fully expect the Pens to be up 4-1 in the 3rd and end up tied 4-4.
I'm not blaming Jarry for this game, however can the dude just make that one big save when they need it? Yet again let's in a back breaking goal late in a game

Ned has been ordinary for most of this run. To his credit, he rebounds quickly after making a mistake.
It's still a team sport..The Pens run coincided with Shea and St Ivany being a D Line. They individually play better D than PO and Pettersson. Having 2 new guys being your top defensive D men says a lot. This is why we cant even determine after all this time if Jarry is any good...He's never had any sort of reasonable support out there..This is also why if we do get in the playoffs we never get past the first round. Its been the same problem w. this team for years now. I;m hoping for big roster changes in the off season. Some teams acquire a Karlsson and other teams acquire a Pat Maroon..this team needed a Pat Maroon, not a Karlsson.
We can evaluate Jarry. And it’s not good

This isn't exactly a debate of using Billy Smith or Chico Resch. Nedeljkovic should get the start but too many bricks have to fall even though those teams are a mediocre as the Penguins have been.
Can we talk about the real issue at hand. Why does Letang still play top pair minutes when his defense and playmaking are not what it used to be? Why do both Letang and Karlsson pinch for more offense at the expense of giving up an odd man rush the other way? Why do Letang and Malkin turnover the puck on the powerplay by constantly passing it so much and don't just shoot the puck? Everyone just blames the goaltending and calls it a day. Do some of you ever think it's a team sport? Your goalie will only be as good as the defense and mistake free hockey allows it to be in the majority of cases where teams have poor goaltending.
You said let's talk about the real issue and then didn't talk about the real issue lol. Letang plays top pair minutes because he's a good player.
it doesn't matter at this point. Ned was exhausted, so of course against Boston he'd slip. He's still leagues better than Jarry but they won't make playoffs.

Yes Jarry has his faults and so does Ned but always blaming one guy for a team sport shows the IQ. Maybe defense that knows how to play defense would be nice and maybe some offense on the PP.....but nah must be Jarry

Ned is playing for a contract. It would be a mistake to reward him based on a few games. Ned has not been the reason for the Pens run, he is very ordinary. It ain’t the work of Ned dude, you let someone else pay him a big contract. We have good goalie prospects in house, no need to block them.

They both aren’t good enough. There numbers are the same. Alex will get paid somewhere other than here and jarry we are stuck with. With that defense it doesn’t matter who is in there honestly.
