  • Good stuff, Dan...picked you up late in the season, but glad I did.. To your point, what took the coaching staff so long to figure out where to play Smith ?...regardless, he's not a Penguin and Dubas should try and move him

  • Ludwig played well for the time he was called up. I had hopes for Graves, but maybe the baby-mama drama cost him his play.

    • What baby-mama drama do you mean? I heard they were expecting, but didn't hear about any drama.

  • Oof. Saddled with some baaaaad contracts… Unfortunately I totally see what you’re reading between the lines re: goaltending. Wish Ned all the best, may he well and truly get that bag this offseason (as you said, sadly likely from another team).

  • First time I've ever heard it called a Dawn-air - it's pronounced Doan-air (like Shane Doan) hehe. Locals will never let you live it down if they heard you say it :D

  • I think that GM Dubas keeps his cards close to his chest as opposed to GM Rutherford. I suspect that he does this with a high level of intentionality. So I would not put a whole lot of stock in what is communicated publicly. For example, why would he strongly condemn a player that he might seek to trade? Doing something like that in a press conference or any public comment is highly unlikely with Dubas. So I take what he says here with skepticism, especially with players with obvious performance and consistency challenges. The Guentzel/Bunting trade is a foretelling trade and it communicated that they believe they need to have a more engaging and gritty roster. One would have to be naive to think that there are not several solid players who are underperforming here that might work out very well elsewhere. There should be significant changes to this roster.

  • I dont know why the Pens would be down with keeping Jarry. They pulled him for almost a month because he was lousy. He's been in the league for a pretty long time now, came up in the organization, and they are still trying to figure out if he is good? He is yet to have a good playoffs. I think he might be a better goalie on another team..you know..a team with a decent D. So I think Ned and the kid should duke it out for the starting role and you apply Jarry's money elsewhere...some team would want him I think,

  • I’m a mixed bag on Acciari. His defense and FO% were good, but only 4 goals is not good enough. He was supposed to be more of a physical presence and I barely saw any of that. Maybe moving to RW and playing with a better center will bring a little more offense out of him, but at $2 million per year, he’s expendable to me.

  • Tbh both goalies next to Sid were the most consistent of the whole team by a long shot. The defense wasn’t terrible but is responsible for this season & why everyone has turned on Jarr. The pp was actually terrible & they are keeping players that need to go. So blame the defense, the lack of a pp, not blocking shots, no ability to command the space or be physical or meet other teams being physical & blame Dubas. Should’ve traded Jake for nothing short of the sky, but instead Dubas made sure to make him a thorn in the side of the penguins for the foreseeable future along with a good Carolina team. The game is hard already, but when the team is trying to paddle upstream, has paddles, but the GM insists on Making everyone use their hands, assuring everyone that it’s the way is unfair to the core, EK included…. Crosby to Carolina? Probably not but would be funny.

  • The Pens haven’t had a goalie with staying power since Fleury. Revolving door, half a good season treadmill.

    • Matt Murray won those last two Stanley Cups last time I checked. It wasn't Flower. Unfortunately I think Murray's health issues were a problem and I believe his father's passing had an effect on him that nobody else wants to acknowledge.

  • Yo, Kingerski, the Oilers have Stuart Skinner, not Jeff Skinner. You know, the goalie. Um, do you get paid to do this?

  • I didn't like how Dubas threw Malkin under the bus for the protection of Smith....that was totally not needed, and Malkin is with Crosby and Letang are this teams faces and legacy...seemed like a stupid move. I know people will say this is pro sports they shouldn't 'sulk' after Guentzel trade, but that Malkin comment along with Guentzel trade are two things to disrupt the room....not help the room

  • So essentially, as predicted, all talk no change. More of the same mediocrity from this organization. Ownership has fast tracked, making the Penguins a bad organization. Oh well, good luck when interest drops tenfold.

  • Why would any competent GM bring back a career loser and his bloated contract with a young replacement in the wings? Trade Jarry to the Oilers (or any other suckers) ASAP. Yeah, Kingerski would be heart-broken to lose his best bud, but the rest of us don't want this jamoke around any longer. Ned and Blomqvist can handle the brunt of the load next season and do it better and do it cheaper. Can always find a Jones or Reimer to play third fiddle on the cheap.

  • Funny. Many of the problems players with this team. Jarry, graves and smith all acquired or resigned by Dubas yet we’re expected to think Dubas can fix this team? Looking like he’s hextall light at this point.

  • NOOOOOOOOOO. Jarry is a terrible goalie under pressure. Trade Jarry and keep Ned. Jarry"s Last 20 starts over the last 3 seasons prove how terrible he is.

  • Dubas has a vision...unfortunately I don't like his vision. People in Toronto didn't like it either...because his vision is not a vision that produces championships
