Lenovo Legion 5 reviews coming soon.
Bought mine for a really good price with the RTX2060, really happy with it at the moment playing games at highest settings with decent temps. But I'm not well verse in laptop internals so am looking forward to the review!
I swear, i swim to your channel looking for that one
Hi Jarrod! Do you have access to a 5pi as well? Am getting that within 2 weeks. Others have told me the 2060 goes up to 115w in performance mode. Would love to hear your take.
@@nekoojisan5120 do u mean legion 5 with rtx 2060....?
Thanks for your help choosing a laptop. I found an epic deal on the Legion 5 with 4800H and bought it! I posted the deal and the Lenovo website instantly crashed, sold out in minutes lol... Due to arrive in 3days. Let me know if want me to report anything on it. Also, Infinity Gaming have 4800H laptops available end of month with various dGPU setups. O5 series

That's why i kept coming back here for review. One of the really underrated channel on youtube.
Agreed!
@@JarrodsTechAgreed, You give really good in-depth reviews that no other reviewer gives.
@@JarrodsTech thanks for the review, but I think the only way to know if this line is complete mistake in terms of thermals will be to test version without vapor chamber. I have strong feeling that version without vapor chamber has better temps.
This laptop follows the saying "Jack of all trades but master of none" Legion therefore gave you a 'balanced' laptop
Hoshiko Kurayami which is what a lot of people who don’t understand computer well need, they just want to game
I think actually the screen is pretty good for a gaming laptop, it is actually comparable to some so-called creator laptops. People usually pay a lot of attention to just getting high FPS even if the screen is dim and colors are barely bright and accurate. I think they some sort of "mastered" that one. Also the rest of the specs are quite outstanding even if not "the best".
Actually, the screen is way more better, than in many notebooks with same price. I think this is jack of all trades and master of some.
@@cornerxstone ofc it was good... It comes with 100% sRGB... And 100% sRGB is what content creator needs... Everyone who wants to game would let that through since they dont need that sRGB for gaming anyway
@@dyingbraincells5631 creators need adobe rgb more than srgb

Great review. Well rounded gaming laptop. And that display...
Lenovo has some of my favorite looking gaming laptops. Theyre sleeping giants.
I love your channel so much, you are the best source for actually full reviews with all tech and software specks. you helped me find my new laptop with this video and I am very pleased and your video was entirely accurate. I love it. Thank you so much!! :)
Hey Jarrod - I love your extensive concise reviews - thank you! One suggestion I did want to make (as both a programmer and a musician), is the recording of the keyboard noise samples you have in your videos. I know you're trying to get a full sound, including bass, to get a better sense of the feeling, however, I think there's way too much bass in those samples, and it's hard to hear the "top"/higher-pitch click sounds. I actually think it would be worthwhile if you could have both... and just swap between them (ie. low, high, low, high) in the sound sample section. One could have a low-cut filter applied, is all... to have it mimic the sound more closely to the user's ears, or above the laptop. Just a suggestion! I think overall your videos are awesome, though - thanks again :-)
Dem... This review is one of the best with great detail... Surely gonna subscribe for more🔥🔥
Daynn, so detailed as always!! Love this channel!! I'm hyped for omen 15 2020 R7 RTX2060 review to come out! XD
sir i really like that you showed real stress test for the thermals 👍🏻 some vids on youtube shows that the cpu is cool 😪 my fave honest laptop reviewer ever🔥🔥
It throttles because his unit is faulty. My unit can complete the exact same stress test without any thermal issues. Here is my result: adia64 fpu stress test for 30min: 10875h stays at 85 degrees/85w/3.7ghz. Room temperature is 24 degrees. Basically the same result as other youtubers, Jarrod really should re-test it. I’m so sad he didn’t even notice there’s something wrong with his unit.
Dave2D also reported high tempz
@@birbir9862 It's Lenovos responsibility to ensure every unit performs as they should right out of the box. Not the reviewers or customer's buisness to identify and solve the problem especially when you pay such a premium. Btw even Dave2d reported sub-par thermals. Vapour chamber is simply overrated
When reviewing the legion 5 could you please review the ryzen rtx 2060 combo if possible. I'd wager most are interested in that combo.
Hoping its this but currently Not available yet in Australia. Should be soon though as it's popped up on the pfspec Lenovo page.

Look man you are great but you know why I follow your videos? Because you hit the nail on the head. Hello Jarrod. It is so refreshing to see that someone like you is going very deep in to the review of the laptop and giving objective critical onion about it. I really appreciate it. A very thorough and most objective review than the ones watched
I got my Legion 7i a few days ago (the highest specced non-custom build). Haven’t had any thermal issues even before I undervolted it. Seems like a great device to me, but I also have only played WoW and CS:GO on it so probably haven’t really taxed it too hard. As a bonus it doesn’t burn my leg like my last laptop, and the fans are silent most of the time and pretty quiet when they do kick on. Only negative thing is that there is a little less space than I’d like on the left side of the keyboard. When using WASD my hands will sometimes wander to the left and brush against the edge of the vent. I’m hoping this won’t be an issue as I get more used to it. I also really wish there was a USB port on the left side for my headset, but that’s personal preference.
I'm considering saving up for one (well either this or the helios 300). Hows the battery life?
^ i'd like to ask the same thing
@@AnakinSkywakka I'm not the best one to ask since I almost always have it plugged in. If it's any help, I had it unplugged for about 15 min once while playing WoW in Balanced mode and it went down to 80%, which suggests it would last about 75 minutes while playing WoW on battery. I also have the ICUE app disabled.
How's the hinge holding up?
@@Waggel86 no issues there

Awesome man, highly appreciate this review. From the launch, I felt Lenovo was hyping the product so much that is difficult to believe. NO throttling!!!, I mean it's really impossible to aspect that based on the way the machine has been built/configured. Being a Lenovo user, I found that except their keyboard, nothing is actually better than the other competitors at this moment.
that's false. Lenovo always runs sales. I got a $2300 legion 7i for only $1900 and it has better specs than the one showcased in this video. I checked so many other laptops around that price, none even compared. Lenovo was cheaper and better.
I've waited this video so much, thanks man, one question please... For content creation (video editing, effects, color grading and some 3d design) and some not hardcore gamimg, compared with the aero 15 or 17 not oled with a 2070 super max q ... In terms of performance... Worth it? ... I'll get another monitor 100 % argb anyways

Amazing review! Here in latam Lenovo is making really good discounts for students. Here If you want a high end gaming laptop you have to pay insane taxes (like a msi ordered from USA at $ 2.199 + $ 750 tax + $ 150 shiping and handling) :c But with Lenovo retail it's almost the same price as in USA (I'm buying the same configuration as yours and it costs $2.133)

Although I am leaning to Acer Nitro 5 but with so many configurations and model types it getting harder to track what is what. Many thanks
I bought a 7i with similar specs as the one tested, but with 32 gb RAM and 1 Tb ssd amd I am pretty sure is a 2070 Super (yet I don't remember), for $2500 with 2 yrs extended warranty and 2 yrs accidental and that stuff damage guarantee, so I guess might be because I am in the U.S but I think is a really good price, including the fact that Lenovo offers constantly discounts (and there are always active discounts such as student discount). Also, again IDK if is only the U.S webpage, but to configure the custom build or to get certain pre-established configurations was pretty straight forward and easy to do, there was no way to make a mistake ordering what I wanted. Good detailed video, thanks.

Hey Jarrod, just discovered your channel. Great in depth review. I'm split between this and the 5 (or 5i), mainly leaning towards 7i cause of the better metal build. Is there any config of 7i which is well cooled? like, one of the lowest specced one with 2060 max q?
If your problem is with thermal throttling, don't worry. It only thermal throttles for like 5 minutes, and then it switches to power throttling. So if you plug it in and game, you'll be fine.

Jarrod can you review the Triton 500 2020 and compare its thermals and 300 hz screen
Hey Jarrod, now that you’ve reviewed quite a few 2020 laptops, it would be great if you could compare some of them, but instead of just saying this is better/worse at this, you give your personal opinion on each laptop, highlighting the use case of each. It would be quite different from your usual factual reviews, and more like Dave2D reviews, but I would really love them especially if you did them in a comparison video (for example GS66 vs Legion 7i) and posted it in your other channel. There’s a lot of things which are subjective, such as build quality, and in your reviews it is pretty hard to ascertain which laptop feels better/best in this aspect. Ditto for noise production, for me the type of noise produced is just as important as the decibels, and it’s hard to compare laptops without keeping them side by side.
Exactly
He has a 2nd channel that gives more of his opinion on laptops. Not any recent comparison of many laptops tho.
