When an indie game gets a million views on it's music you know they did something right.
ForeRunnerODST When an Indie game gets a 10/10 rating on Steam you know they did something right
When an indie game developer puts their heart and soul into their work, then you know they've done something right.
When something is right you just know it.
ForeRunnerODST When you turn right, you know you're right.
plasterdbastard When you turn left three times, you know you're right.
Fun fact: Darren Korb produced all the music for the game before most of the levels were made. Supergiant built all of the levels around Darren's Soundtrack. It explains why the environments and the music fit so well together.
Thats actually genius
More games should be based off this strat
Musical concept art.
TBH I've always felt like this is the best workflow. Music is the hardest thing to pin-down and its the thing that affects humans the most with the least amount of setup (compare to dialog having to set up for minutes/hours). If I had the money to try and make a proper indie game this is probably how I'd try to go about it.
Badass, I love this soundtrack. Reminds me of the movie "August Rush"s soundtrack. If ya ain't watched it, you probably should.
Here I am, 10 years later...
Not just you brother. Still pays off to replay this gem every couple years.
Now The Kid, he goes onto KZhead, and finds himself a soundtrack that he can surely listen to night and day.
yes
Still a fantastic comment
Did You Know: This soundtrack was made by one dude alone, and he recorder everything literally in his closet. It's crazy where pure talent will get you. Also, the narrator is his roommate, recording in the same closet.
Really? That's amazing if it's real
obviously, supergiant's got a real studio now, but legends often start small
@@Arpel21 just look at minecraft. the most popular game in the world that was created in a rental storage unit
MiruyaChan what about the female vocals?
If that's true that's absolutely shameful. Taking into account that this game was published by Warner Brothers Entertainment, it's embarrassing that Mr Korb was forced to record the soundtrack under such precarious conditions. Fuck big publishers and their half-hearted support towards indies
"Listen. All this takes a lot of getting used to." -Life advice for 2020
TRUE
exactly what i thought
His voice gives me the confidence we got this
My thoughts exactly!
Dis isn't what we get in recommend
It's sad, to think you can never experience this game for the first time again.
tbh you kind of can
All video games are like that, if they leave that good of an impression you can play again and feel much similar joys.
@@grexpex1807 and then theres the practical thinker😅
@@tadhgivors There's an app for that!

"Walk by a kid holding a machete and a mortar... you just keep on walking"
I don't think I ever had that combination. I did have many though. My favourites are War-Machete, Army Carbine, Fang Repeater, Hammer, Breaker's Bow, and Dueling Pistols.
Oh, I did and I burst into laughter when I heard that dialogue.
You have excellent taste in weapon combinations, Eugene.
A good old Spear and a Bow, the Kid don't need fancy tools.
Samurai Champloo
***** It's such a good feeling listening to old songs and that deja vu or nostalgic feel
Bows are kinda fancy lol
Hello brother
My man
This soundtrack still rocks in 2023. The composer has some serious talent.
music is one of the only medias that doesn't age. if you like a song I don't see a reason you wouldn't like it in your future.
@@Pirouyy a person's tastes change though. I used to like pop country when I was a kid, but now I can't stand it
sure, but the point was that a good music will always be a good music, no matter when it was made, unlike fashion, cinema, litterature or even food.@@MathewWithOne_T
This game is a good example of how often "Less is More". Simple, not eye tiring, beautiful graphic style, curious story telling. I didn't get bored a minute playing it.
Also tracks instead of looping they leave you with silence for a while, after which another song is up.
got bored after 10 minutes
Played through the game in one sunday. Felt like trying a new game after breakfast, got hooked, went to bed only after finish... haven't dared to replay to not spoil that first magical memory. Loved the storytelling.
@@balbutskybalbutsky ofc you did, you're an idiot
I've never played this game, but something tells me I should.
You should indeed.
Might start off a tad bit slow to some people like me, but it get's really awesome.
I don't know if you ever played this, but if not, here's your reminder! And the narrator is amazing. Truly the seller of the game.
if you live in games and die without playing this game, you may as well not have lived at all. Bastion is one of few games that makes me say that
djd40000 Noted. As soon as I have a good enough PC, I will play it.
Young guy turns on his computer. Logs in, and loads up youtube. After some wandering searches, he finds the soundtrack. He just sits there;head down, dreaming of the bastion.
that intro narrative was really cool
The whole game is with the same narrative - once in a while that guy is explaining the world of the game while you are playing. The game is brilliant and one of the main factors is the narrative.
AGEMO Makes me think of the narrative in Fallout "war, war never changes" and whatever makes me reminiscence that, well it's awesome.
aserta Ron Perlman, respect.
aserta Logan Cunningham(The Narrator) says that's what he based the voice of.
when you put your main character listening to your game ost, thats when you have confidence in yourself
Learn English? wtf
My brain is hurting.
I think he means that the kid listening to the game's ost shows that the composer is confident in his work
was it too hard to understand? i know my english was kind of shit back then, but i dont understand why many people got it the wrong way, thanks dude, at least 44 people got was i was saying
Your comment was perfectly understandable, I don't get how some people couldn't comprehend it
the kid just raged for awhile....
15. Brusher Patrol is good for a rage ;)
My Machete, my Musket and this soundtrack. I need nothing more
+Vicente Santiago Breakers bow, and a Brushers pike.
+Vicente Santiago Hammer and a Bow, as easy as it is.
PurpleTurtle Whoa...
hanifa Abdurrafi I just think these two cooperate with each other pretty good and i don't really need anything else. At the end i changed bow for mortar, but after a while i changed it back ;p
+Vicente Santiago Musket and Hammer
There's three things I'll always miss though One, not havin' to watch my step all the time Two... Ah... forget about two And three... I miss the songs
It's almost like we watched the same video.
Ironfist Doombringer, Slayer of Humans, Destroyer of Worlds How could this happened?
PK Bertold I can't believe it! We all watched the same video? Impossible!
Alter Ego Inconceivable!
Amazing...
Definitely in my top ten Soundtracks for games.
Maybe #7. Considering the amount of soundtracks I have heard that is a very good place.
badjazy I'd be interested in seeing your top 10 list
badjazy Neotokyo would be way up there for me
mephtec try red dead redemption ost
Jetty Dzn thanks, I will !
just watching this for the first time and listened to the first actual tune and that was fucking amazing
Play the game and you'll be blown away
Regen Syscronos true my dad has it and i love it :D but i dont :(
Viljami Pyötsiä You don't have it or you don't love it?
Monk McKenna I think he loves it but doesn't have it (only his dad does) if I understand correctly xd.
winsterpin that ending theme though
One of the best soundtracks ever
not ''one of the best'' it is THE BEST for me atleast :3
3 years old, still an amazing soundtrack; so powerful. Few soundtracks have stopped me in my tracks like this one.
What about AC2.
videogamebomer oh god now that is why i love ac2 so much
I feel that way about Fallout New Vegas, this, and Jet Set Radio Future
FEZ and Black Mesa Source soundtracks are awesome as well, check them out!
ALREADY 3 YEARS OLD GUYS THE MUSIC IS ALREADY 3 YEARS OLD ALREADY 3 GOD DAMN YEARS OLD but it's still good guys, even after 3 years, the music is still good! get a load of this guys this piece is now 3 years old but it's still good! even after 3 years! 3 whole years and still this soundtrack is powerful didnt get old and feeble still young and fresh like the first day i r8 8/8 still good after 3 years
Only now when I am not enraptured by the beauty of zia's song do I realize how scary and threatening it actually is.
better stick to Wagner
Little bit Rite of Spring?

I love that she's referencing the fact that she survived in a basement while so many died while behind The Rippling Walls that they were so proud of
@@justsomeannoyingredpanda I always... Always thought it was a song about future, not about the past... It actually makes so much sense now.
I'm playing this game for the first time now. Beautiful work! Love the narration, the art style, the music, and just the overall vibe of the game. It really sucks you in. Helps that the combat is pretty satisfying as well. Can't wait to see where the story goes.
Ye babes…
The kid just raged for awhile
did you finish the game?
Yeah I don't usually go for platformers, but I played through this game start to finish at least 3 times.
So its a platformer huh... I give it a thought.
I've never played this game, but the soundtrack is fucking incredible.
Yeahh boi
The game is even more amazing.
It's not too long, it's pretty cheap nowadays and blends storytelling and gameplay very well. Also narrator's voice is like listening to audabale heaven with chocolate pudding.
Yes mate Rucks is the bomb
The narrater sounds like Morgan freeman
nice background music when you are worrking at your job!
true
Graphic designer? LOL Because that's what I do!
Wish I could choose what music to play at my work. My patients need to hear this kind of music
@@xXSpiceyduckXx87exactly what i did as a graphic designer today
This is the first soundtrack whose game I havnt played, yet I am still able to listen to and enjoy on a daily basis.
You should resolve that, it's a great game - takes a little bit of getting into but you are missing a lot of the story and narration by not playing through.
Same.
I'm buying it soul-ly based off the music. I know nothing of Bastion, but a sound track says a lot about games. If the developers took time to implement a good one, I can assume (with some confidence) they took time creating a good game.
Same
Rifle and Revolvers, ain't noboy getting through that much firepower.
10/10 would not refund
***** marcus munitions approves
+manofbedrock YT Buy only from the best. Buy from Marcus!
+Joao Gomes buy from Super giant games*
Sophie Archer Wait, super giant sells guns and ammo?
Joao Gomes does amazing games count?
Best OST i can think of
Attack on titan slightly beats it for me. This has best game soundtrack tho. Hands down
trsansistor beats the testicles out of this one
Best commentator for Dota!!!
i agree with you whole-heartedly
●MаxZ I would agree but it just bothers me to have a character (not just a narrator) from a game that had a story I care about commentate a random match of Dota. It doesn't feel right so I prefer other announcers (Juggernaut announcer is pretty good imo).
TheTaleOfSirRobin "As Dire's middle tower falls, Axe's middle finger raises" Axe - who knows when.
●MаxZ jajajajaja yep XD
+●MаxZ Pudge hits his hook. Seems like a Godsend for Dire, though I doubt they're listening. Pyth and the others never much cared for Dota. "All about LoL", they used to say.
Omgt, it's so GOOOOOD! There's not a soundtrack on there that isn't a delight to the ears. Each piece is so uniquely different and yet equally beautiful. Plus the whole style of music is fresh and original, something new. It has its own distinct, lovely style that's instantly recognizable.
NERD!!!!!!!
Oh sick burn You called her a nerd I'm sure you told your parents and friends all about it a month ago
heh totally
Bronze TheSling Killing floor soundtrack.
Actually, Transistor is pretty damn amazing. Different style, one that I usually wouldn't like, but it blew me away
Superb soundtrack, amazing game.
I have been listening to this soundtrack for years, countless times, and just tonight I realized the riff from The Pantheon (the last track) is playing in the background of Get Used To It (the first track). Incredible, and really adds a layer to the Narrator and how he knows what he knows throughout the game.
Such a good game. Oh my god Bastion is so good, I can hardly contain myself! So happy I've played it.
have you played transistor?
GrimmPersona Not yet, but I'm planning to.
demilung the ost for that one is incredible as well.
that arts etc, all of it, i swear, its magic
I love that the team is still together and putting out fantastic work like Hades
"Two. Ah, forget about two." I love that line.
If Firefly had a competent game series, than this is what it's soundtrack would sound like.
Never played this game, but I am grateful to have found this!
Zulf's theme is by far the best.
+The Chosen One Zulf, that bastard. I left him to die.
+44MonkeyBrains I didn't he wasn't "bad"
+The Chosen One Mother im here is the best for me
+44MonkeyBrains why was he bad? he was more insane i guess but not bad. everyone makes mistakes.
+The Chosen One Have you listened to Setting Sail, Coming Home? At 55:33
The sexiest game sound track of all time.
Agreed
Tom Hamilton umm
Shadow of the Colossus. 'Nuff said. This is pretty fricking good too, though. :D
Just listened to this whole thing straight through for like the 20th time ever, 10/10 would do again, one of the best video game soundtracks ever!
I've run this OST in the background when I'm writing for over a year and must have heard it a good 100 times by now! Still parts of it gives me goosebumps.
In 2 minutes, the ambience and pace of the game are set. Darren you're such a master.
That "Thank You" at the end... 10/10 would have heart melted again
that Mother, I'm Here song is so good ive added it to my favourites
Everyone: "What genre of music is this?" Darren Korb: "Yes."
epic soundtrack, I especially like Bynn the Breaker
+Yohimo Asakura Agreed! And Spike in a Rail is also a good one.
+Yohimo Asakura Brilliant song, but I personally prefer Terminal March
+Yohimo Asakura I love Bynn the Breaker.
+Yohimo Asakura We all love Bynn
+Maby51 I found it and its good
I honestly can't thumbs up this enough. The Bastion game is well written, clean gameplay, gorgeous scenery, and the sound track is unbelievable.
Incredible studio. They really have a special team over there
its one of those things where you stumble upon something magical. This goes beyond spectacular. It's so amazing
my favourite singleplayer game with my favourite ost. Two weeks till Transistor!!!
Six years. It's been six whole years since I last played this game. And I still come back to immerse myself in one of the best sounding game soundtracks of all time.
and now its been 6 years since you've said this
beautiful, passionate and amazing!
this sound track brings me back to a peaceful time in my life thank you for sharing
a beautiful game with a beautiful soundtrack following up with a narrator that is similar to Morgan Freeman
How dare you compare Logan Cunningham to Morgan Freeman. Freeman is a mere plebeian compared to Cunningham. Otherwise though, you're right.
Ben Newhouse I always thought it was Ron Perlman til now. Common misconception
What? Morgan Freeman has a much higher voice.
Feng Shooie he has said that he based the voice heavily on Ron Perlmans work on Fallout
David D'Agostino War never changes...
this soundtrack actually slaps omg
Just played this game for the first. What a brilliant gem. I was hooked from the word go, and loved every second of this experience. Amazing that Supergiant made their debut with this title. Kudos to them!
Terminal March hypes you up so much for playing this game again
I love this game's soundtrack. My favorite weapon combo was Dueling Pistols and War Machete. I was super quick on firing off a volley of bullets with the pistols, and backing that up with either quick slashes or Perfect throws of the machete. The two were a fierce combination.
Bastion is cool~
Don Brinson Bow, war machete and grenade for me. :D
+Don Brinson Pike and fully upgraded breaker's bow. Killing a line of enemies before they even get close to me. If one of the lucky sumbitches gets close to me, he's gonna meet his doom at the pointy end of my pike.
Sometimes I combined the Breaker Bow with the War Machete or sometimes the fully upgraded Cael Hammer. Very effective.Joao Gomes
Don Brinson Yeah the breaker bow is the perfect weapon to dish out some massive damage from a distance and the fact that you get it early on and you can get it upgraded and get the secret technique quite easily makes it my favourite weapon.
I loved this game.. I still have it, and still play it. Whenever the option to abandon Zulf or save him came up.... I couldn't do it. I couldn't leave him behind. He may have been trying to destroy what the goal was going to be, but I couldn't leave him behind.
right in the feels. what a great game, amazing music, and a very special way to tell a story
I have never heard of something so exotic as this soundtrack. This Is Unique!
God danm it Bastion has an amazing OST.... Surely one of the best indie games I ever played
Correction -- One of the best GAMES you've ever played.
well indie games are games after all lol
Sammy Martins I think what he means to say is that it isn't an indie game anymore cause it has been taken over by a major publisher (Warner Bros if I'm not mistaken)
BlackbirdObyri yeah I got his point but well not trying to be a hipster I played it before it was mainstream haha jk.. I mean It was an indie at that time so that's what I meant.. anyway.. It's a great game and I'm not sure if they are supported by warner or taken over.. but I hope that Supergiantgames continue to make beautiful games such as Bastion ^^
BlackbirdObyri I read that as Bastion is one of the best games ever played, whether indie or otherwise. Limiting it to the indie genre kept if from being better than AAA titles...which it surely is in some cases!
probably the best OST out there. not only as stand alone music but also creating the feeling the game want to have.. it's like... almost perfect.
+laladieladada agreed, as standalone music its great, as music in the actual game. holy shit its even better. it just fits and improves the whole experience.
***** yeah i quite like the FTL music aswell.
I love this ost, its just so nice.
Sweet. The whole thing is up again. Thank you.
Why is this so fucking good
beacause it is
because the songs weren't written to just help tell the story, they were written to make the story complete. they tell you a history of a world since broken. these songs hold more meaning then just to play in the background as you explore the world of this game, they play in the foreground reminding you that a story should make you feel, and damn if they dont make you feel. thats the feeling i get from this sound track, a sense of making you want to live this story over and over.
Tyler Dewey stop !
david jb Hammer time! *dances away
Youmu Konpaku It has that wild west fallout theme to it.
The video game gets my play of the game
Your comment makes zero sense. Wow.
Its a Overwatch reference
Internet's awesome!
Dr Wurzy well than its shit
We know it's an overwatch reference, it still makes 0 sense.
Such a brilliant soundtrack. Been jamming to Slinger's song and Build that wall for the last week.
that intro guitar and the bass along with epic beats. masterpiece BGM i love it. never returning this game.
When my buddy said this was one of the greatest soundtracks out there, I didn't believe him. I stand corrected.
Reminds me of Trigun at times. I'm definitely getting this OST when I get the chance.
I play this almost every day for one hour, still here everytime i need to work.
If ever I get back into playing guitar, this ost will be my starting point. The nice atmospheric tracks perfect for any number of situations, all of which sound damn good.
"Zulf you're so god damn lucky I saved your bitch ass. Now peel those fucking potatoes." -Kid's first words.
How is that not SO funny? Good job!
Indie game soundtrack with 2.5 million view. Nuff' said.
Lidor Rosh Bastion has probably the best soundtrack. And Narrator.
Not even the AAA get this XD
Same
then you go and see meglovania has 25 million
but megalovania sucks
Thanks. I was too lazy to search when I commented, but after this I accidentally found a video where Ashley sings "We All Become" live. Finally I heard the entire song and it's awesome!
25:43 Slinger's Song has been stuck in my head all morning and I couldn't remember where I heard this banger, I just remembered and came here. This whole OST is so brilliant and impressive!
I've just remembered how awesome this music is :)
Wow listening to this while doing work is useful
great description of the video thanks
Epic soundtrack to an epic game! The game itself, I love that it has an old school feel with that isometric view and those painted/pre-rendered visuals. So good! :D
Wow. I've heard about this game but I've never played it. I just stumbled upon this, and now I wanna get it.
same
It's been sitting in my steam library for ages but this is really making me want to play it.
the game is absolutely amazing. worth the money
You don't know what you have been missing all this time.
WE NEED A SEQUEL TO THIS NOW!!!!
I love the music in this game. Sometimes it makes me think how perfectly it'd fit with Trigun.
This soundtrack deserves soooo many more views... simply the best!
completely amazing ost! DAMN!
Terminal March is so cool
"Kid finds his lifelong friend just lying there in the road. It's a... touching reunion."
What amount of beauty have I found here ? :3 Fabulous !
This whole thing is such a masterpiece.
Honestly I think Terminal March is my favorite of the instrumentals, but regardless of what your favorite is, MY GOD THE MUSIC SELECTION WAS PERFECT FOR THIS GAME.
The kid kicks back after a long shift on the wall.
Nordin Reecendo I had to read this in Ruck's voice. I just couldn't help it
Okay, I am just IN LOVE with this soundtrack. Just. seriously.
this game is one damn fine piece of art. music, art, atmosphere, characters, story... I love it so much..
The singer on 'Zia's Theme' has one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard.
THIS ALBUM...is GREAT!
Thanks for giving me enough inspiration to finish my AP World History essay before the deadline :)
i love this game and its crazy sound track
