Instant goosebumps. Oh my god. I haven't heard this in over 20 years! I'm 38 now and this game was the first video game I ever played online and I spent so many nights at my best friends house playing this all night after my uncle introduced me to the game the summer after it released. The nostalgia is incredible. I suddenly feel like I'm 13 years old with a cold pepsi right next to me and many empty cans on my desk from hours upon hours of playing the game. 😲
@Antonio DeNardo I can't see where they'd take the franchise from here. It concluded. It wasn't a fantastic conclusion, but it finished nonetheless.
me too, this video game changed my life, I met my first girl friend playing this game! so many memories and countless nights. I made my first website for this game lol! The soundtrack just brings me right back wow! Happy travels man!
Dude lets fire it back up and play! I started playing in 2001 and was an elite online player by th t ime 2005 came around. Have so much time into it its not even funny. Havent played much since then. But seriously we should play!
Same, I'm 36 now and downloaded the HD remaster when it came out, but hearing this at work is a rush of nostalgia. Meeting up with friends for LAN parties because 56K internet sucked, Windows Media Player on and row of PC game boxes on the shelf. Our generation had it good.
Know that feel, bro. I remember it quite clearly: that fragile connection via modem network. And getting all choked up when it fails during the final attack on enemy. Priceless memories.
Terran 3 is an absolute masterpiece and Glenn Stafford is a genius
Honestly the Terran themes are so great they could have made a full album in that style
@julianthethief 100% agree I wonder if when they were creating the music, if when they finished they all had a moment where they understood how legendary their music was (Stafford + everyone else that worked on the soundtracks) When I look back at those late 90s and early 2000s years, what would starcraft had been without the soundtrack? There is something bittersweet about understanding that I will never get those times back ever again
@ski_ba I loved the soundtracks on Diablo 1 and 2, starcraft, and warcraft 3 reign of chaos and warcraft 3 frozen throne. Pure genius
This was beyond difficult for me because StarCraft was my escape from an abusive childhood. And it was amazing. And now it's dead
I never thought I would have to say Blizzard is dead. I really thought that would never happen.

I like the Terran music a lot, but I think it gets a bit of an advantage because it's the first really catchy campaign music you hear, so it sticks with you.
What about the base line from Zerg 3?! It's pretty great!
That may be true. Or maybe it is because terrans have an opposable thumb that allow the use of electric guitar, wich sounds nicer to my ears than the zerg's succion sounds or the protoss' depressive music (wich I can understand : it kinda of hurts to lose your planete while you're busy hunting down your next hero). Today, as someone who almost exclusively played Zerg, I heard the Zerg defeat music for the very first time.
In Starcraft you never willingly chose a race, this decision was made before you ever took your first breath, opened your eyes the first time or had the slightest idea about something like a computer, your destiny as Terran, Protoss or Zerg was pre-determined in the moment of procreation...
Jay-force?
I am born to be Zerg...

But in Starcraft 1, I was always Terran, and always will remember and love the feelings I got from playing that game as a kid. :)

They captured the three factions so well in the music. Terran is pure military badass with a kind of air of discovery; Protoss is the brooding majesty of infinite, incomprehensible space; zerg is synth creepiness, conjures the image of infestation and chitinous, writhing monstrosities
well said Edit: after listening to it all again... Protoss and Zerg are sooooo underrated (by me at least). While gaming you never hear all that ambiance (YES EXECUTOR!!!! STATE YOUR WILL, or zerg with MRRRGUUAAGGH HZZZGFEUGN, etc is what dominates, volume-wise). Some spacy shit they made. Very interesting music🤔 (but yeah less catchy than terran ones).

@@bluesight_ What, so the Protoss and Terran exist to consume and kill and … enjoy life a little?
thats why they are the greatest of the 3 races 😝
If you listen to Zerg One carefully. It's sort of a build up to an event. At around 41:00 you hear the moments before the event. At 41:30 the music has reduced and you distinctly hear breathing - ragged breathing. Something is born! The breathing slows down, the music rebuilds post event. Finally towards the end you hear what sounds like stronger, aggressive breathing. I like to think this event is Kerrigan reborn. Next to Terran One it is my favorite music.
Damn the OST was PERFECT for StarCraft. Nothing else fits the dark, gritty, technological, foreign, desolate, and alien feel of the world old SC had. That title theme and Terran One are especially amazing. Brings back such strong nostalgia, I'm so sad those days are gone.
SC2 really had a different feel that I just did not like nearly as much. It felt more like WOW...lost the grimdark grit. Considering it was directly inspired by WH40K, it seems odd to go in such a wildly different direction. The story suffered as well.
Listening to this is getting me hyped for legacy of the void. This game was a masterpiece for it's time..
+selvmordspilot blizzard is not the same without bill roper.
Its masterpiece status is immortalized.
man, what a trainwreck of an ending was legacy of the void, ugh.
"Whaddya YOU want? Yeah, I'm goin'" :D
_Sir_
somethin on your mind
I DONT HAVE TIME TO **** AROUND!
starcraft and starcraft 2 were great game, the sound track puts you in a lonely atmosphere where you don't know what's going on and then the guitar hits and there's zerg coming for you 4:22 putting all the parts together made an amazing game that was fun to play
That terran one brings me back
Second track: "I love you, sarge!" "..huh?"
I'm not really all that good at Starcraft but the OST makes this game twice as good as it. So many memories with all the Terran songs
What does being good at Starcraft have to do with appreciating its amazing music? XD
Anyone ever come back to this just to listen to some good music? Yeah your favorite singer and rapper are poppin' but this is timeless. I'll never forget this.

David Janelle I didn't play a great deal of stargate. sorry. ehm hiccup.
I can't imagine Terran One opening without SCV's crystal mining sounds.
I grew up with this game and music. And now it still follows me trough my life! True masterpiece
"We sense a soul in search of answers." "Do you seek knowledge of time travel?" "We'll take that as a yes." "And now for your first lesson...muhuhuhuhua.."
So much nostalgia from the Terran pieces.
Zerg One! & Terran One! Once in a lifetime you write and compose such a masterpiece!.
Plebs: Omg Terran One Me, an intellectual: Terran Three

Came here to post exactly this. The beginning was reused for “Song of Elune”.
This is the soundtrack of my late childhood. :)
4:57 The sound of my childhood.
i just cant believe how good this soundtrack is... how is this possible
lol brings back memories and goosebumps. To think that there are games before 2000 with such an awesome soundtrack is unbelievable (SC, Descent, Prince of Persia, Crusader No Regret, Diablo 1, etc...)
The Death of Overmind is still fucking epic
All the protoss songs give me a very strong feeling of nostalgia, memories of 1998 all over again. There is no other game capable of emotionally committing me and making me transcend through time. There are no words to describe the power of protoss music. Btw: April '98...Win 98se, 16mb Ram, Compaq Presario 4220, integrated 1mb/2D video card... We were happy and we didn't know it. My life for aiur, today and forever!!
