Razer Basilisk Lineup Is TOO COMPLICATED! Let's Make Sense Of It
At last count Razer was selling over 25 different gaming mice and there's no worse offender than the Basilisk. Within that lineup alone there are FIVE different models, each with different shapes, sensors, features and specifications. Let's quickly go over them to see which Razer Basilisk is the best fit for you.

that intro tho...
IKR ... -D.
@@HardwareCanucks on the essential i believe it's 20M, since it's a lot crisper than greens or optical, that's what the normos like, but still give points on it being the only one with a crisp click in all the ba (ofc disregarding reskins). you also got the essential 95g vs og ba 107g backwards. but it's true the best balance is on the v2 and bae
We should stop.... We should stop
Hello CalebCity
lmao ikr
I know your camera was littered with spit when recording this 😭 salute to you for always saying "basilisk" and not giving up.
Василиск - as simple as that
OMG the intro along was great. Thank you. Need that
Haha yeah there really are a lot of Basilisk mice models 😅
Sir please tell alternative of Razer blackwidow 2019
Woah tech block is here
Hi tech block
I have basilisk x hyperspeed and I love it,
@@ganpatsuthar3935 just buy it
The basilisk is a really good shape, i played with one briefly as i tried to re-train myself to be right handed. That failed, BUT, the basilisk was the comfiest right handed mouse ive tried, and i've tried a lot. I tried the V2, personally. I want Razer to make a Viper X Hyperspeed, so i can use a BT mouse on the go and be comfortable.
Finally someone made sense of the basilisk lineup! Great work!
I love this mouse (V2) but the manufacturing is terribly inconsistent. Only the 5th one I got had everything working right (registering every scroll wheel step AND switches feel consistent). Worth the effort IMO because it feels great.
6:09 bisilisk original essentail (weight)
I have to admit, Razer did an awesome job updating Logitech G502 design with V2, Ultimate and X Hyperspeed >.
Im still going to get the G502 hero, I still dont know what to get the g502 or the basilisk v2 its so Hard to pick
@@ahmedmx3575 Not hard at all, get Basilisk V3. G502 is worse in every way. Got both.
Fantastic review/breakdown, and the humor was perfect 😂 You are now officially my go-to for product reviews Dmitry.
4:00 it almost sounded like the shark attack from jaws. You should really make a song with mouse scrollweels because it sounded quite fun.
true xD
Logitech.....? G502?
Yes
Yeah, pretty much.
I thought exactly the same... They copied Logitech only missing the Lightspeed charging mousepad...
And the infinite scrolling
@@Ziz1337 Except way more comfortable
Thank you so much, helped me with picking my next mouse. I'm buying the original basilisk
Nice video and thank you for all the info i needed👍👍😁
Dmitry, please review the Arctic Liquid Freeze II or Enermax Aquafusion AIO. I'm curious are they any good, because the price is pretty cheap for an AIO
6:06 you messed up the Original Basilisk and Essential Weightings.
Man... the intro!! ahahaha well done my man... well done!
I loooooove when Damitri does the review and all!
Will you do a foolowup with current basilisk models?
and now there's the V3 which drops the customizable scroll resistance and gains some weight, but gives you Logitech-style infinite scrolling as well as more underglow than a riced Civic
Nice. Please make a reviewn on original orochi. It was the best compact small shape ever. Wish they release again with longer cord
Do you think discontinuing the older/lesser sold mice of the same models would help solve the problem?
it of course would don't know why they keep selling older models they should discontinue them. Waste of resources for them to keep making them.
Currently have the V2 basilisk ultimate and the add on paddle was great until... it stopped working, sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn’t. I ended up taking it off because it wouldn’t work
I have the OG Basilisk, the shape is amazing and the buttons are really good, the tactile feel of the buttons make the mouse feel really premium.
Could you switch out the battery in the Hyperspeed for a lighter one?
2:05 I think you have the weights mixed around for Basilisk V1 and the Essential....
I've had two logitech mice, currently g502 hero and have both had the annoying clicking/double click issue that happens off and on until it eventually is just unusable. The durability for logitech that I've experienced, isn't very long. But I've been looking at the Razer basilisk essential, I'm just still unsure because I'd want it to be a similar feel to the mouse I currently have...
Logitech isnt exempt from this, they do the exact same thing
First brand that came to mind for me
Wut? Are you talking about the office mice? If not then I don’t see your point. They have actually segregated there lineup pretty well, the only different models with the same name are Wireless versions, the rest have different names and look slightly different enough to figure out which is which. Razer is definitely worse lmao.
Logi have two G502 gaming mice version at any given time not counting the cosmetic limited "special editions" of the G502. Razer in comparison, rehashed way more of the same mice in a short period of time in order to try to appeal to everyone.
DarkZerol I’ve never seen two on sale at the same time, are you talking about the Hero sensor and the... what was the last one called, Prodigy or something? In that case yeah but they’ve stopped selling that in local stores and I’m pretty sure I didn’t see it on their amazon either. Could be wrong, idrm.
Theres the g102 , g103 , g203 , g305 , g304 , and the g pro wired that uses the same shell lmao
Pucked up ultimate recently, great mouse but had to go through 4 returns to the store. Either left right or middle mouse off. For its price the qc was trash. Luckily in australia returns are straight forward with the store
That's Razer bro, the most unreliable triggers on the market
what the hell? Ive always had Razer mice and Im still using my gen 1 razer naga way back from around 2009
What is qc?
@@Ivan-ig9gr quality control
@@CapsuleGraph11 I see thanks.
that beat at the intro tho, I want to know what song it is
Just bought the V2 aling with tournament edition keyboard..cant wait
i have Basilisk v1, should i upgrade to the V2? or there inst much of a diference between the two?
Actually looking at Basilisk Hyperspeed X rn, because my two recent Logitech mice(G703 and G302) had double click within a year++. So this video came at a perfect time 👌
just got mine a month ago, love it!
@@KyleDayne is it comfortable ?
@@Fahadew it is, I really enjoy the thumb rest
I remember seeing the basilisk V2 on sale at a webshop I use often, and thought "hmm... isn't that basically like my mouse? *compares the g502 vs basilisk v2* oh yeah..."
Is there a good gaming mouse that fills the back of the hand? Like the coolermaster MM710 shape, but a bit bigger?
I tried this mouse out at Best Buy, the scroll wheel resistance adjustment is pretty cool but pushing it down was so mushy feeling, I was immediately turned off.
the scroll wheel is very nice, awesome adjuster, feel good. but it suck when tilt scrolling, custom function, and onboard memory just work when synapse 3 installed. 2 years development still in beta and disappointedly no mac version.
I use essential and im a happy man. 4way switches 0tick barrage and back into tank gear in 1 tick. Fkin great mouse if u know what i mean.
the fuck are you talking about lmao
@@entrpy978 Something a young child like you will not understand 😂
what an intro man 😂 loved it!!! need to know the music name, please someone?
my mercury basilisk sniper button is trash. you have to basically press it at the attachment point or it doesn't work. and i got this NEW
The original basilisk is my favorite mouse. I bought 2 extras just to have for the future. Might try some of these others in the future
Your intro took my subscribe. Well played...
That look in his face when he sais "i don't know" 😂😂👌 premium!
really wanted a high quality mouse coming from console gaming to pc as controllers are very high quality. The Ultimate is what i've gone with and would recommend it to anyone in similar position, looking at this as i got a spare pc and thinking getting the hyperspeed for it as it's not my main machine. Great video
I am unsure if i should pick up the basilisk ultimate, cause i am already familiar with the shape that i really like, or some light model like the logitech g pro x superlight, cause i play mainly csgo and sometimes minecraft 🙆🏼♀️ Any advise ?
im wondering if the user's ring finger would get pinched inbetween the right side of the body and the right button? that happens for me on the new naga trinity.
I just went to get a basilisk, but best buy shut the door as I was walking to it
Currently have the Razer Taipan, would it be worth upgrading to the Basilisk v2?
great video, loved the intro
how big is your hand from wrist to tip of middle finger and width with fingers together canuck?need to know for size comparison thx
Very helpful, thanks!
Do your razer mice fall apart? Like the rubber on the side just comes off over time
You should do one on all the razor keyboard getting sold now it’s so confusing
Best intro guys! Need moar of those 😝
which of them is less common to get the double click issue. I had the razer basilisk essential and after two years of usage i got the double click issue. thanks for any help
Ok so I can’t be the only one who literally doesn’t care about infinite scroll wheel right? If you’re browsing then use middle mouse click to use the arrow or page down and if you playing a video game just use a macro
I personally like it but it’s not a deal breaker for me. The main thing about it is that it’s just smoother and quieter, especially on my G502 that has huge notches. But before that I definitely used middle click a lot.
DOOM eternal speedrunners do
@@mr.weasel1049 infinite scroll wheel meens you press a button and it no longer clicks and stoos on intervalls, meabing you can just give it a push and it keeps scrolling without you touching it
I remember the only time i found it really useful was scrolling up and down tumblr
Have you ever take a look in the black widow lineup? Blackwidow, Blackwidow chroma, Blackwidow TE, Blackwidow V2, Blackwidow Elite... And lot more
The Viper mini should be called the mini lite as while the shape is similar it's not the exact same, also it is a cut-down version.
Please make a review of the Roccat Kain 200 Aimo, thanks
Doesn't the Essential just exist to be compatible with Synapse 3? Just like my Deathadder 2013 and the Deathadder Essential, I believe.
I'm use to the g502 but I was told ambi mouse are better for fps is the basilisk a good option for fps the ultimate
Oh wow, I just switched to a Deathadder v2 from a Basilisk v3 because the basilisk felt a bit comfortable - G502's shape is perfect for my (big) hands, but the scroll click is so tight my index and middle finger started hurting from playing games where I adjust the camera with that button so constant usage of it. The basilisk has the best (=softest) click of all 3 to me, but somehow my hand cramps up as it feels like a slightly smaller version of the G502 and my fingers are flowing except for the finger tips, on the G502 I could rest pretty much my entire palm comfortably on it. The Deathadder however seems like a good middle ground - easier on my hand with its size (especially the area for the pinky at the bottom right) and the the scroll click is still softer than G502's.
Dimitri really needs to make a podcast or stream sometimes he feels like he'd be a treat to watch and listen to!
Is the ultimate as back heavy as the hyperspeed?
I got my Razer basilisk original in 2018 for 25$ on amazon and it still serves me well to this day, would recommend it.
I personally have the Essential and I love it. It's very comfortable in my hand :)
You personally have it? You don’t just have it but you personally have it
I have been using the Razer Basilisk Essential mouse and to be honest it feels and looks much nicer than the original. In my opinion, if you're looking for a better feeling and looking mouse, but wanna spend $10 more, have 1 less button, and only 6.4k dpi (which is not bad, idk why people need anything more than 6k dpi), then I recommend the Razer Basilisk Essential so far.
So, between Razer Basilisk X hyperspeed and Logitech g502 hero (wired) which one should I buy in 2022?
This sucks because I just got a razer basilisk V3, but can't use it because it won't hook up. It shows that it's in my device manager, and it's showing there's nothing wrong with it, but I can't register it because the razer registration part says that it doesn't recognize my razer SSN, but when I do put the SSN in, the P/NO pattern that it gives me to type in doesn't match with what's on my mouse. I'll enter my SSN, and it's give me a P/NO that looks like this: RZXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXX. However the P/NO on my V3 mouse is: RZXX-xxxxxxxx. So I have it, but I still can't figure out how to set it up, and think that might be why, because it's not registering. The lights on it will turn on, but there's no response when pushing any buttons or moving it around.
But why did RAZER remove the dpi clutch and the scroll wheel adjustment. Did they do it so they can push us to buy their more expensive mice in the line up?
Hope you could advise to make a Ultimate Basilisk that weighs 80 grams or less that is wireless. Please!
On which mice can the scroll wheel resistance get adjusted?
Got a hyperspeed X but it kinda sucks I'm returning it and looking for a new one
Personal use basilisk essential for editing and gaming mainly. And I am quite happy with it And I got it for 26 dollars only
I've owned my Razer basilisk for about 4-6 years. I love the shape, (also the extra macro on the side.) Though the left mouse button stopped working six months ago, no clicks were registered and I had to solder a new one in place. It's been working great ever since but the right button registers false double-clicks all the time. Don't buy a Basilisk and expect it to survive, though you will love it for however long it will last. Edit:typo
Yeah but I guess its the same as any other brand. I owned Logitech G602 a wireless gaming mouse which was pretty expensive. But after around the same years the left click start malfunction, double click etc. I bought new mouse after that, althought the body itself is still pretty fine
companies underestimate our clicks
@@kabusthepotato9572 lmao
It's more like a common issue with Omron switches, but it's also Razer's fault for using them on cheaper models
the hyperspeed one is a huge misstep, it doesn't even have the clutch button? Apart from the shape it shouldn't be considered a basilisk mouse. If it had the extra button I think it would be the best overall in the entire line up. I thought the essential was lighter than the regular basilisk ? 95g vs 107g according to the razer site
Funny I went to Best Buy last night to see if they had the M65 ultra from Corsair and saw the Basilisk V3. Oh damn im impressed. Time to retire my nightsword unless I also try the m65 ultra, but fo r the $70 price of r the new basilisk, it’s a steal.
I 've only had logitech mice (the G400 is my favourite) and I always considered the Basilisk as another option since I like its shape. But if they discontinue the original, then I'm not so sure
NtGism the g400......
NtGism if you’re looking for a mouse like that get the logitech g502. Great mouse i own one
@@jonnyportillo8949 I'm actually on my second G402. I liked its shape better than the g502. But unfortunately I'm not really impressed by its built quality, this is the second one that has developed some issue with the scroll-wheel click. My G400 had a broken cable, but I fixed it some time ago. However, i'm not using it out of respect for how much of a great mouse it is. My absolute favourite
Sooo i wanna ask, i want to buy a mouse for playing fps games, like r6s, csgo, but i still confused, should i buy zowie s1 or basilisk v2 ?
that intro is gold!
Plz do a review on new HyperX Cloud Flight S, Dmitry
Razer really really needs to work on the quality. I have had a death adder and now a viper ultimate starting to fail on me. The left button on the death adder stopped working and my viper ultimate has started to disconnect randomly in wired and wireless mode. If I plug my g pro in the same usb I get no issues of disconnection.
I had a Deathadder 2013 and it's still working, I gave it to my friend and he's still using it 7 years later. I have no idea what you're talking about.
Very good video it helped me alot! But still have a problem. I am looking to buy the original razer basilisk but the link says it cant be deliverd to my country. So can u pls help me? (I live in europe) @Hardware Canucks
Cool. In my country they "fixed the issue" of Basilisk being cheaper than Essential - they sell Basilisk for $80 USD and Essential for $45 USD.
got the ultimate on prime day for 80 bucks shipped NEW! coulda got the viper ultimate WITH DOCK for 70 bucks new shipped but im currently and only ever used the corsair m65 pro rgb so i figured that the basilisk would be best suited for comfort and being used to already.. my m65 scroll wheel (CLICK) has issues like a mofo and the wire is super stiff....
Ordered a v2 the other day while it was on sale for $35. Glad I didn't pay more. The plastic feels cheap considering the MSRP and the lack of grip is annoying to the point that grip tape should be factory installed rather than being a $10 option. But at the price I paid it is a damn good mouse. One other minor annoyance is that the scroll wheel click is horribly short and lacks any kind of feedback. On another note, does anyone know of a 3d printed extended paddle for the sensitivity clutch? I hold my mouse back too far to reach it with my thumb
so V2 you get all of the ultimate features without of course wireless and pay less than half for it. looks like the better choice unless you want wireless and hyperspeed will get you through most things but definitely bang for the buck is the original one. anyway I haven't bought razer mouse in few years do they still break after 1.5-3 years ?
why did you stop the intro i was loving it
Can make a review for logitech g pro hero sensor vs g403 hero.. i hope u can review it pliss.. 😭
Which one is better, Logitech g304/g305 or the basilisk hyperspeed x ?
Wow, I never knew that there are line ups of Razer mouses! I though that theres one or two variants of like 3-4 mouses lol
ive had the normal razer basilisk and its awesome i had it for 3 years before my right click died from playing too much league of legends but i recommend it now im upgrading to razer basilisk ultimate and i hope its worth it
You punched it too Hard prob
Can you make a video about the best wireless gaming mouse
whats wrong with essential? Original one I cant find for sale and V2 is much more expensive, I might as well go for 502 instead V2. I probably would. Like you just crapped on essential, because why? Lift distance? no adjustment for scroll wheel? I doubt many care for any of that. I don't.
They have the basilisk v3 now. Just got it.
you got the weights between essential and original basilisk mixed up
About to buy the X Hyperspeed for my new laptop just because it's freaking on sale on Amazon rn and it's cheaper than the G305! Also I love me battery life :P
I dont know how you can use this mouse (and the g502). I press the button on the left with my thumb and its very very annoying.
$179 is competitive. It's hard to believe that people pay that much for a mouse.
Wow there’s the basilisk and the basilisk essential and the v2 and the ultimate and the x hyper speed woow
