  • A plea to the UK media: PLEASE let Emma be Emma. Allow her to focus on her career so her love for tennis can remain undimmed. If she doesn’t do well in the next few tournaments and Aussie Open please cut her some slack… she’s still learning and developing… I say this because the UK media love to build up and knock down people. They must learn to be patient. Emma’s got the right attitude and natural talent to be consistently winning slams and tour events for years to come.

  • I wasn’t been watching tennis lately but Emma’s fairy tale story has really sucked me in this game again. I am sure there are plenty of Emma’s who started early as 5-7 yr olds and have been playing the game for a decade and more. The hard skills, technique among these players will more or less be similar through proper professional coaching. What differentiates Emma with others would be her poise, grace, managing stress, managing mental state, intelligence, in fact all the soft skills you are born with which are difficult to train, off course her pedigree from multi country parents have its own impacts. Hope Emma maintains her natural self and becomes a role model for at least another 10-15 yrs. for good of sports and the game..

Six months ago, she would take a disposable camera to tournaments, get the film developed, treasure the photos, and that was all she had in the world. Now she has £2 million! But she seems so measured and composed in one she's doing and what's happened to her, it is extremely impressive.
