The 2021 US Open main draw runs from August 30 - September 12 in New York City at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The tournament takes place for the 141st time and is the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year. Dominic Thiem is the men’s singles defending champion but has withdrawn following an injury. Naomi Osaka is the women’s singles defending champion and will be aiming to claim the title for the third time in four years. Meanwhile, No. 1 seed Novak Djokovic looks to complete the calendar Grand Slam after winning the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon already this year. Should the Serbian lift the title here for the fifth time, he will also overtake Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal to become the first-ever man to win 21 Grand Slam singles titles. With full capacity crowds back again, it’s time for the greatest return!

There hasn’t been a big three equivalent in women’s tennis for a long time now and with it only being two sets to win, no wonder there are so many first time winners. I've been following tennis avidly for 30 years and can't recall anything like this, an explosion like this. For someone with so little tour experience, Emma plays like a top-5. Her court coverage, shot-making and mental toughness were those of a much older player with a few slams in the cabinet. She is a promoter's dream: beautiful, articulate and girl-next-door nice. She always looks like she is having the time of her life on and off the court. Blown away by this. I can't speak highly enough of Emma (or, for that matter, of Leylah, who is also here to stay).

    • Congrats to Emma. She was the better player today but her beauty will be a curse for her tennis career. She'll be too distracted by her modelling career now and the British press live to destroy celebrities. Leylah, will take this lose and improve her game, she's a fighter and super hungry for a title now. Probably in the long run the best outcome despite the heart break of today's lose.

  • She gets out of high school, practices for 3 weeks and gets to the quarters of Wimbledon. A few weeks later switches to hard courts and doesn't drop a set (including 3 qualifying matches) to win the US Open. She then proceeds to dominate the press with the assured confidence of a polished pro. She must be an alien and we should all be living on her planet.

  • Emma's story must be the most remarkable of all sporting victories. From schoolgirl to turning pro before Wimbledon to US Open Champion in three months! Emma has only played in four tournaments in her life, two of the Grand Slams......and she still only 18.

  • Along with an exceptional game...she has incredible mental strength! She was the better player on the court today, she's had an exceptional run but I don't at all think it's a fluke. She's the real deal - just hope & pray that she continues to surround herself with the right people, both professionally and personally because she is absolutely a great champion in the making. Can't wait to see her and Leylah keep winning slams and tournaments!
