You know what? Rich can't get enough of Emma Raducanu's story? I can't get enough of Rich's telling of Emma's story. I watch this from time to time because it makes me feel fantastic. Here's the thing: I watched her last four games in my Dad's house. I live 200 miles away and he was in hospital, feeling confused and dealing with health problems that seemed serious but, y'know, not life threatening. So when my sister couldn't go to see him every day, I drove up and stayed *in his house house,* going to see him every afternoon and doing what I could to stay sane between visits. I knew he'd love Emma's story, even if she only made it to the quarters. And I planned to tell him as soon as he got well and was allowed to go home. So I watched with great pleasure and excitement as she went on to win the Trophy. But dad never made it home. He died, of complications following a chest infection, with me on one side and my sister on the other, each holding a hand and feeling him slip away over four or five hours. It was the most horrible experience of my life. By a long way. I try not to think about it and when I do I'm filled with pain and horror. I never got the chance to tell him about Emma Raducanu, and that's something that I'll always wish I could have done. And I've been drinking gin and probably written more than I should but thank you Emma, my dad's death will always be just a little bit less awful because it's mingled with your wonderful triumph. And thank you Rich because you put it in terms of respect and honour.

Emma's 2021 US Open run was a sporting achievement of incredible beauty, and don't forget the sheer thrilling, dominating tennis! The whole pack of brutal backhand volleys and crafty slices! Just the results of all 10 matches, in only 20 sets. Like Rich, I just can't get enough of it. No dropped sets, no tie breakers, only one 7-5 set in the 2nd quallie, served out winning championship point with an ace.. and I love the US Open's new video telling Emma's story from her three qualifiers onward, and in that first quallie i can't see more than 6 people watching. 3 weeks later, ridiculous fame, wealth and status. Water into Wine, Miracles CAN Happen. Nothing supernatural - just self-belief and hard work can make a miracle.

We Brits are so proud of her and love how you have embraced her and her story. As always beautifully framed Mr Eisen 👏
She attributes her success to her mental side and that mental side to her parents upbringing that she received. And her parents are Romanian & Chinese. They are the one that should proud of her. They made her and gave her the X factor mentality. It is a matter of parenting style.
Its not just her tennis ability, its also her magnetic personality. She'd be a winner either way.

The opposite male and old version of that film plotted in a wrong tournament and is also British is already made 19 years ago.
Usually movie characters have setbacks they have to recover from to win. She didn't even have that. It was just serene all the way through.

This is the greatest story ever told. Her achievement is unbelievable. It will one day be made into a film because there is no other sporting moment that can come anywhere near what she actually did. A qualifier who won the US Open without dropping a single set, playing 10 matches in total. You couldn't make it up.

Possibly one of the greatest achievements in ALL sporting history, there are no words in the English language to truly explain what was achieved. For context how about this statistic; nobody in tennis has ever earned that many ranking points in a tournament before (2000 for the US open, 40 for qualifying) so if she was to retain her title next year she'd actually lose points, simply extraordinary. She could never win another tennis match and she'd still go down in history. However, something tells me that this won't be last time we see this girl lift a grand slam trophy. Brilliant analysis!

My daughter is not sporty other than running and yoga, but she sees the sign ive got that says you only have one life make the most of it. Emma has just started the best journey of her life. Everyone involved in her career, please look after her.
One more amazing fact about her win is that while she is not the youngest ever winner of a slam she did it in her second open, previously the fastest win was achieved in their fourth open. Incredible fairytale!

Not only was her tennis amazing, her poise and intelligence during her interviews was brilliant to watch. A genuine lovely young lady. I don't know whether you read it but she couldn't book a tennis court in her home town as they were all fully booked. What a great example to the young generation to follow...
That's right! Bromley Tennis Club was fully booked with youngsters inspired by her.
She donate her tennis outfit to be displayed in Tennis Hall Of fame titled “A legendary run: preserved,” tweeted the Tennis Hall of Fame.
One of the great achievements in the history of any sport. She'd only played a few pro tour events before it started as well.

Emma's footwork and speed, lateral and forward and back is off the charts. She really moves like a young Federer. She could not be a surprise to anyone who saw her play in the juniors or her early pro tournaments.
Her 2021 journey is already one for the books , history made no matter the outcome at indian wells . No one can take that away from her 👏👏👏

Hats off to a great way to tell her story. As a Brit I’ve been telling my kids the same things for weeks since Wimbledon so it was great for them to see her rock the US Open as they were already invested in her story.
It's a great narrative but she is an outlier in so many ways, e.g. so cool under pressure which I think is nature, not nurture.

May be we shut first stop this programming/conditioning of kids by saying "my country" "my flag" "my continent" "my religion" etc. Secondly, she is born to a chinese mom and romanian dad and migrated to UK. So, neither born in UK nor have ancestors in UK, just have a UK citizenship due to a very early migration I guess. How should these matter. We are eventually only embodied minds (without touching the spirituality aspect), and the minds perceive using the 5 senses and generate thoughts. Everything else are just constant programming/conditioning. Please comment back.

That was a great appraisal. I’m from the U.K. and really enjoy this channel, for helping me understand US sports I’m not sure about (NFL) but also the positivity in Rick’s analysis.
Wow, brilliantly put. I was totally inspired by this woman's achievement, and now see her as a role model whom I could learn a lot from. A little embarrassing that she's half my age, but I don't care. She's a hero.

You're right, one of the most inspirational stories in a long time, even more so considering how she bounced back for her Wimbledon ending. She retired due to a panic attack in front of her own home crowd. To bounce back from that takes incredible courage and self belief, and ultimately that is what sports are all about. I look forward to seeing what's next for her.
Personally I don’t think she had a panic attack as such. That match had been moved later than normal and was I under the roof which would have been a very new experience. I think she just didn’t really have time to prep herself as well for the different atmosphere. You see her now and she’s able to completely get into the zone she focus 100%. That evening I guess she wasn’t able to get there mentally as much as she’d have wanted.

That lady is an exceptional allrounder. 3 months ago she was sitting for her A-Levels exams and got As for Maths and Economics which is an outstanding result. A levels maths is not easy. To juggle your studies and professional sports is an arduous task. Winning a grand slam while acing your exams is a monumental achievement.
to get an A in Economics also pretty impressive, that subject ain't no walk in the park either

Every match she said to herself: It'd be great to win the next match but, eh, if not I'll be here next year... it'd be great to win the _next_ match but if not, eh, I'll be here next year... ...and then she's holding the Cup.

Great video ! I haven't been inspired by sports in such a long time, and Emma Raducanu has done this. The most improbable win that I can think of in tennis history, and maybe even in all sports (single athletes). What impresses me most is how many times she served against a break ball, and never cracked under that pressure. Her tennis was immaculate anyway, fluid, dynamic, intelligent, no weakness. But her mental strength was out of this world. I have never seen anything like it. Ironically only her opponent in the second qualifying round reached 5 points in one set against her, the other 9 players never got more than 4 points. So saying that she won without dropping a set is correct, but she never had to even go into a tie break, and 9/10 games never allowed more than 4 points. This 10 game run record will hold for another 50 years, I am convinced.

If this was a synopsis to a Hollywood Movie script. It would be turned down for being just unreal. The best sport story in years. Just the level and the calmness and professionalism of the young player is such a great advert for sports. We know how easy it is for young kids to be chewed up and spat out. Let us hope we can enjoy watching the calm Emma Raducanu's adventures for years to come and more importantly she continues to enjoy it.

She was pure class in her behavior and in her tennis. She made millions of fans and, of course, dollars. The biggest surprise to me was how easy she made it look! Couldn't tell if it was all her(I suspect) or her opponents just having an off day. All opponents having an off day really doesn't wash so I believe it was her great tennis. We're going to see great things from her in years to come.

Got to mention her ranking.... At Wimbledon she was ranked world No. 338! After making the 4th round at Wimbledon, she ranked 179... At the US open she was ranked 150.

I love how the story was told by emma's own twitter account which added a genius touch to the most uplifting and inspiring sporting achievement that i have ever witnessed.Emma is a truly amazing young woman and is such a great communicator and role model for all generations and i am sure this new york fairytale will be made into a film one day.
The story behind Leylah too is astounding. Emma did take the trophy but I do think there were two winners. Kudos to Leylah too.

This is one of my favourite videos to watch. As a very proud father of two amazing daughters, this video is everything. I have my first grandchild due in less than a month, and whether we welcome a boy or a girl I will one day show them this video. Never let anyone tell you that you aren’t good enough. We may not all succeed like Emma Raducanu; but we can all have levels of our own success and be proud of our own achievements.
