  • It seriously hurts to watch this and to watch the video of what actually happened. What bothers me deeply is the fact that you know he had to have known he was being recorded, but he felt so empowered that it didn't faze him; he didn't stop. How are we raising adults and MILITARY that have no sense of shame, propriety, common sense, decency no matter who they are talking to, respect, love for their neighbors and themselves as well as empathy? There are so many other things that could be mentioned, it just hurts my heart to know that we've strayed so far from the things that matter in life, beyond what we can touch. Our military should be even better prepared for dealing with issues like this and not more experienced at being the cause of it. I am so PROUD of those Mothers that stood with him, that young woman who had the guts to film the ordeal and most of all that young man who showed the calm and poise that Pentland should have shown and the reserve and self control that should have kept Pentland from turning this into the nightmare it is for him now to begin with.

  • This happens to African American men in the United States all the time. I graduated from Ivy League College, am biracial. This happens to me at least twice a year on average. I just had something similar happen to me at a colllege campus I attended in the 1990s. Fortunately I documented it visually with cameras in a manner the perpetrators weren't expecting. I sent a complaint and letter right to the UC Irvine Chancellor. Document and create paper trail. Post to social media.

  • Why must this always be about color, race, ethnicity etc. A guy yelled at another guy period. The fact it was a white guy yelling at a black guy is of no importance. If this had been a black guy yelling at a white guy, I submit that it wouldn't have made the news. Let alone the back of the local newspaper. I am not apologetic about this. If everyone agrees, this man's behavior was reprehensible and uncalled for, then that is as far as it should go. However, I see this as more of a race baiting issue, in which certain people, within a culture utilize such events to advance their causes. The Army Sargeants behavior was wrong period. I don't care what color, race, ethnicity anyone was. It was just wrong and yes, he must be punished by the military code of justice. That's it. KB

  • I think about the injustice of this a lot. Today, I saw a video of a fight in a NYC bodega. One man fled to his car, while the other man chased him and shot into the first, fleeing man's car. Then three cops shot at and wounded the shooter. What happened at the end of the video? Four blacks hollering and shouting AT THE COPS!!! Naturally, a moaning black man who was just shot by the police is an INNOCENT VICTIM. That is what the dgiwesch media cuts out of reality for stupid blacks to perceive as reality. If blacks were not so susceptible to dgiwesch media's psychological conditioning, then they would be much better off, but they deserve far worse treatment than they have suffered thus far on their own account, as they have run up many other debts in the sight of God.

    • @@Nothingzero123 🤔 so he has a history, but they don't arrest him, don't take him down for questioning, leave a sex offender on the street, they do nothing, but arresting him could clear them and justify why they didn't initially arrest Johnathan P. until the video went viral and it could save face for the military, but again they don't determine the young Black guy did anything to warrant Jothan's actions. What is Johnathan Pentland's history?

    • Okay. First, Pentland was charged for his actions and words. The evidence supporting the charges against Pentland was recorded. In that recording, it is clear that there was no evidence that would mitigate his actions. Second, if the young man had committed or attempted to commit any crime immediately before Pentland assaulted him, we would know about it. There is no way you can convince me that a South Carolina Police Department and the United States Army would permit a training Sergeant to be arrested if there was any exculpatory evidence. Furthermore, I sincerely doubt Pentland would have been suspended from duty. Finally, I Don't know if the young man has a criminal record or committed a crime after this incident. I suspect that if he had been arrested or charged, it would have made a splash equal to the original incident. The media and the public would eat that up more than their favorite soap opera. Even if he has been or is currently involved in any type of criminal investigation is irrelevant to the charges against Pentland. This type of character assassination of the victim is not unusual in American criminal procedure. Unfortunately, it has a tendency to work. We see it a lot in white on black cases. But it is most prevalent in sexual assault cases. In those cases the defense tries to label the victim as promiscuous or a tease. These are examples of dog whistle evidence used to get a jury to believe that she wanted it, she was asking for it, or that the defendant was reasonable in thinking that she wanted it.

We are victims of Racism/abuse all over the world. Doesn't mean we aren't strong, capable, loving, intelligent or able to move forward. We've BEEN doing all of that. We haven't let any of this nonsense stop us. It would just be real nice to not have to worry about being killed, assaulted, fired, expelled, thrown in jail etc... for doing nothing at all.💁🏾‍♀️So I think you and other black people who think like you need to start looking inward instead of projecting out. • @@ArterialJames1990 No dear, I told you not to pretend like there's no problem/oppression out of fear of being a victim of something. Being a victim DOESN'T make you weak..refusing to heal, grow and fight back does. Why are you acting like people are just laying down and taking it? We now have the ability/means to make real strides and change and THAT'S what is ACTUALLY happening. There's hardly anybody just using racism as an excuse so they won't have to get their lives together, so you can go ahead and dead that honey. It's also not Just about someone "not liking you" as you so simply put it🙄🙄🙄....it's about an entire system internationally that has been deeply ingrained and set in place that makes it very difficult for a black person to just simply LIVE and LIVE happily. You mentioned our children...so you want your son/or daughter to just be minding their own business and get killed for existing? Because that's what's been happening for forever now..if your child goes missing or gets killed..you want less resources, energy and media coverage for that child? (Fun fact: when a child goes missing, the media literally seeks out a white child to cover😉) Because that's also been happening! When that child goes to school..it's just a normal regular degular thing for them to get expelled for DARING to wear the damn hair that grows out of their heads? Oh We can add being fired to that list as well for when they are older. Let's not forget getting thrown in jail for years on end for a petty crime, a traffic violation or nothing at all.💁🏾‍♀️Do you know what true victimhood is? Just sitting there and taking abuse and doing/ saying NOTHING..Pretending it doesn't exist..keeping yourself in a prison of denial.🙃A true leader fights for something..stands up for themselves, their rights and the rights of their people. THAT'S what Kings and Queens do. So, I'm happy that our children are seeing what to do...because staying quiet moving through life and being abused and mistreated AIN'T IT!🤨
