"stacked roster plus good quarterback" was not the cowboys formula when dak got extended. dak has still never made a conference championship in his career, and brock purdy has never missed a conference championship. that's not a comparable situation.

Cowherd used to have good commentary, but he seems to be slipping. I was listening to a biography on Bill Cowher, he says that each year a NFL football signs new players and drafts players to replace those that retire or leave and in training camp the coach and his team will try to build a playoff team. Every team has to juggle issues with the roster and age. Cowher makes it sound like this is new and it is not.
Brock Purdy deserves the massive contract, as having a franchise QB is a game changer!
The key difference being that Purdy has already made 2 NFC Championships and a SuperBowl on his rookie deal which is more than Dak did even when he wasn't yet paid. People think paying a QB closes the window when it ain't true. It just makes the room for errors in the draft smaller. Brock Purdy is clearly a franchise QB and he has shown he is good in the playoffs. Paying him should likely be a no brainer.

Let's say Purdy takes the 9ers to the Superbowl next year and wins it. Then instead of 50+ million/year, they offer him 20 million. Maybe Purdy would accept the contract knowing that money would be available to maintain the team's championship status. That precedent would then deflate the contracts paid to franchise-level QBs as well as other positions in the future. It might even help lower ticket prices so your family of 4 could attend a game without having to take out a second mortgage. I know, just a naive and wishful fantasy.

The media SHOULD BE pointing out some red flags on Caleb Williams Pink phones, nail polish, and crying in the stands to his Momma, like a little girl, should be reported This is unchartered territory for an NFL franchise QB, much less the first pick of the draft. If he doesn't play well, or is crying in the stands of Soldier Field, these red flags could be fatal.

If Purdy was smart he would take a page from Tom Brady and do a reasonable extension and make sure they sign good receiver talent.
Why should he do that? The GM has to draft cheaper WRs like other team that pay their QBs do. The only way for them to lowball him is to give him a much longer contract.

This is why I don't often listen to Colin. He's getting old and stuck in his way of thinking. This is not a popular platform anymore. It's too white bread. It's not Hip-Hop enough. And it is not accurate enough. The 49ers are fine. 53 million cap wise ... they have advanced to the SuperBowl twice.....won 2 NFL Championships...3 NFC West Championships...the organization is doing fine. And most sports analysts and critics will telling you and the stats will show the 49ers Defense is the primary reason they have accomplished all those feats, including a very effective running game. Colin once again doesn't know what the f**ck he's talking about. Or does he? He doesn't like Kyle Shanahan or the owner of the 49ers. And it is pretty evident between Nick Wright & Colin Herd that there have been harsh words exchanged between the parties. I would loved to be a fly on the wall listening to those harsh words because it sure is evident in their editorials and reports on the 49er organization.

Here's a possible take, but who knows. I know Caleb's mom owned/ran/maybe still has a nail salon. I believe any nail painting is kind of a tribute to his Mom from what I remember hearing. Caleb has supported the USC Women's hoops team since he got to USC, has given them gifts, etc. Probably has supported the men's team as well. The pink phone cover could have just been something like he gave the players and he was just showing his support by using the same product. I think if he was always sporting a pink phone, we would have heard about it before.
