Ba Duan Jin · 八段锦 · 8 Brocade ❗️ Read the description first ❗️by Shi Heng Yi.
➡️ Instructions on the practice: What to do? / How to practice?
➡️ Copy the movements! In each final position use any type of power to tense the body and make the posture become strong. It's no problem to use muscle power in the beginning!
➡️ Stay in each posture and slowly deep breath! (Full inhalation - Full exhalation) Minimum should be around 4 breathing cycles (any number above is perfectly fine).
➡️ Try to keep the power / strength in each posture steady, regardless of in- or exhalation. Keep Focus and direct your intent in the proper direction.
For what should I aim for? / What is the goal of the practice?
➡️ Easy is: Do it for the pleasure of doing it!
➡️ Useful is: Make the postures become more powerful / stronger by every week!
➡️ Purposeful is: Observe and become aware of your transformation.
The names of the postures are:
ENGLISH / GERMAN:
Opening · 00:00
1) Pressing up to the Heavens / Beide Hände in den Himmel pressen · 01:30
2) Drawing the Bow / Den Bogen spannen · 02:40
3) Separating Heaven and Earth / Himmel und Erde spalten · 05:05
4) Wise Owl gazes backwards / Die weise Eule starrt zurück · 06:55
5) Big Bear turns from Side to Side / Der große Bär bewegt sich von Seite zu Seite · 08:50
6) Touching the toes and bending backwards / Die Zehen berühren und nach hinten beugen · 11:40
7) Clenching fists with an angry gaze / Die Fäuse ballen und grimmig Schauen · 13:25
8) Stretching the body / Den Körper dehnen · 18:40
Closing · 20:05
Why are there so many variations of this routine?
➡️ Practicing without clear intent is useless, no matter which form you choose.
➡️ This video is one of the more simple forms that I practice. Easy to remember, clear to execute.
➡️ You want more beautiful variations, go ahead. But understand the purpose of simplicity first.

  • Four years ago, I fought for my life and was the winner of that difficult story. They banned me from a lot of physical activity. However, I listened to my inner voice. I felt the need to move, to exercise... to be a winner again. I literally wrote every word of you, dear Shi Heng Yi. I keep all your advice in one big notebook... And I read them every day. Then I watch your videos. And then I do Ba Duan Jin. Yi Jin Jing. And Luohan Style... The way I know best. And I repeat countless times until I feel the energy I no longer have to imagine :) I chose you as my master. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You've embellished my existence. I dream of the day I visit Shaolin Temple and when I can thank you in person. I wish you all the best. Greetings from Serbia by Dušica Wolf :)

    • Day 10 update: I honestly cannot believe it's been 10 days already. I got better with the movements and at least I try to focus on the moment more than what I'm going to do next. Horse stance a little bit challenge but I started to understand the movement better and I'm trying to fix it with every day. I sometimes have a little bit knee pain for 2-3 minutes right after the practice but I'm working on that as well. They say on the internet that horse stance or ma bu is actually good for knee pain and knee strength so doing it correctly will solve it in the long run I believe :)

  • I was dismissed from my job a few days ago. This announcement shocked me a lot and led me into darkness for a few days. But I am not ready to give up and so I started searching. The universe led me to this Shaolin Qi Gong 🙆🏻‍♂ 20 Minute Daily Morning Routine with Shi Heng Yi this morning and I am infinitely grateful. During the exercise the tears could finally flow and I noticed how my body started to sweat despite the slow exercises and at the same time an incredible relief came over me. My body, mind and soul were stretched, towards the sun and I feel relieved. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart. I will recommend it to my children so that they in turn can show it to their children. Changing a circumstance you don't like starts with taking the first step and accepting that in life both sides exist, Yin and Yang, and are not mutually exclusive but complementary. I think the wisdom lies in accepting unpleasant circumstances, learning a lesson from them and then coming out stronger. Without my dismissal, I might not have discovered this morning routine, which is good for me. And so all is well. 👍

My individuals and I absolutely love this routine and we are very grateful to have it. I have noticed improvement in mobility and dexterity in some of my clients who do it most regularly with me. When we come to the end of the routine we use those few moments to feel grateful for 3 things in our lives and the flow of energy is so obvious (eg tingly fingers) that I am able to help my clients understand about the energy in and around us. This routine sets us up to have a great day.

Loving self care of my physical body These things help me to regulate myself, process challenges, find acceptance and live to serve my purpose. If I feel lost, a short nap followed by a refocus to my 8 once again restores my flow and I find I have the strength to go on. It seems I did not find this practise, it found me. It has always been this way for me. When the season is right, the needed thing will appear. We are heading into the autumn months now where I live and this practise truly suits my 5ams. That set of exercises is amazing for balance, for quiet the mind, for strengthen the body and for bring flexibility to body. But I notice that Qi Gong bring more than that, it brings vitality and even resiliency for the practitioner. In my house everyone practices it at least five days a week. Mr. Shi Heng Yi, your style is incredibly beautiful and elegant, congratulation for your perfect movements.

I was suffering from depression after my mother passed away. By practicing qi gong, I have regained my peaceful and concentrated mind. I can sleep better at night and my energy level has increased. I feel more grounded and alive. Your sharing on life perspective has encouraged me face the challenges of life again. I am very touching and feel grateful that I have the opportunity to learn this ancient & precious piece of art. My gratitude and appreciation are beyond words. You are the savior of my life 🙏🙏🙏

  • When I first watched and followed along with this video, I could barely maintain the horse stance for the entire Drawing the Bow section, never mind the rest of the forms. But I remember one of your other videos where you said to just do what I can, and I always keep in mind regarding starting something and going all the way. So I persisted and I completed my first session by mostly standing higher during the sections where the horse stance was used but only as high as I needed to. It took many weeks but eventually I could perform all the forms with a proper stance from start to finish. That was two years ago now. I know the forms by heart (but I won't claim to have mastered them as I don't believe I am anywhere near that) and still go through the forms most mornings when I can make time for it. That was the start of my journey to a healthier lifestyle, both physically and mentally. Thank you so much for your teachings. 🙏

No description of what was happening or what the progressions were from one stance to another were unavailable so I didn't learn much and at that time I understand the monastery was closed to outside practitioners at that time . • As a college-level teacher, I am a firm believer in the importance of exercising. Due to the pandemic, I came across your class and found it to be exceptional. I even shared the series of exercises I learned from your first class with my students, who were able to recognize some of the postures from various games they play and love it.

  • I thought I was alone in the experience of crying while doing this exercise, but after seeing the comments section I saw that it was a shared healing experience. I'm in a very uncertain time in my life & this came to me so randomly. The slowness of the movements & really being able to witness each movement was so healing & grounding in profound ways. It reminded me of my power & the energetic space of love & light that I hold, which connects us all. Thank you, master

  • Good morning Shi Heng Yi. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I don’t use social media/KZhead much, and I discovered your videos a few days ago. The thought in my mind was “where have you been all my life?” I have done the 20 minute morning routine for four days. It’s so wonderful. I want to do it everyday from now on. Seeing you do this routine in the snow and in another video where you said it was 6 degrees below zero, made me embarrassed for always making excuses for not working out. I love the peace and strength reflected on your face. It gives me peace and helps me feel calmed as I follow you with this routine. Again, thank you so much for this and all other videos, which I will continue to watch.

    • @@quietglamour1314 I feel very sorry for you. Hurting others won't ever reduce your own pain or hurt. Turn to your pain and try to make peace with whomever hurt you so badly. Memories can be changed so that your wounded mind will find peace again. You'll see your life will take a more positive turn also towards people you do not know. Rest assured because because they are all strangers here you have never met nor will never meet in person they cannot harm you. It is all in your head and bad memories.
