Although a few Porsche models get rated higher in the DougScore, this is the one I'd have -- hands down. For me, the best modern Porsche. Porsche, please make it with three pedals!
Hey Doug I’m a huge fan!❤
@Ben sup Ben
The happiest u been behind the wheel in a while ..AND IT SHOWS
Even more than Carrera GT? Or just new Porsches?
Many Porsche fans regarding the Boxster/Cayman as THE Porsche, Doug 😁
22:01 "So let's talk about this car"......(18 seconds of no talking but the engine screaming with Doug smiling... enough said!) Gold!

Hahaha forgets he is recording 😁 "......must tell you things"
An EV can never make an enthusiast that much satisfied.
11 PM: I just put it on full throttle on my home theater audio, my apartment's neighbors ringing the door bell.
I love that Porsche don't stray too far from their iconic body style
By "iconic" you mean Volkswagen Beetle?
@@porvoonosho and VW Beetle design was mainly stolen from Tatra 97
@Paul S na it’s actually just so much better than most everything else by leagues it doesn’t need changing
So impressive that they can Continental to evolve it so every new model Feels Fresh and so miuch better then the old just like lambo
@Paul S and still they sell like crazy , owners love them and the reviewers always give them praise …would be stupid by them to change a winning concept
The Bee landing on the wing at 10:10 and perfectly matching the cars color scheme made me happy
Yeah I saw that too. perfect timing

As Honda lover, its the good way how to do it. And peoples choose to love it tday...but, there is a history about it.

One of the best of Doug's episodes! You can see how much he's enjoyed it
Doug has always loved the Cayman. Honestly the Cayman is cooler than the 911 because it's so good they have to nerf it.
I agree I love watching the Cayman videos because it’s my favorite too and it’s awesome to see hi so excited 😁
THISSS may just be Doug's best car review ever. The man played this Porsche like a musical instrument. When I close my eyes I can still hear flat six engine song, 9000 rpm strong. Truly THE virtuoso video of the channel.
Yes. This is the first review of him that I watch where he doesn't seem to be mostly clueless about the car.
I love how Porsche listens to it's customers. This is one of the most special cars Porsche has ever released.
Only a 6 on styling? Damn I’d give this a 9. Absolutely gorgeous
For sure, hes tripping lol
it's a pretty boring look for the price but it's nice overall. I'd give it a 7.
Ehh it's a little too busy with all the black vents, the black wheels with the body accent are really played out. I think in the right spec it would look a lot better.
Doug is fairly harsh, but realistic with his grading. I agree a 7 would be better, but in the end it's more or less subjective with just some objective metrics.
It looks like every other porsche
That engine note is unbelievably intoxicating, seriously one of the greatest engines of all time
I definitely agree!

@@LuxuryNoCap WTF! This is KZhead, not that site...
No kidding!
“Not making cars for collectors, making cars for drivers” damn….. literally brought tears to my eyes.
This is the first time I've ever been interested in ANY version of the Cayman. This particular color, this spec... it just does it for me. Yup, I want one! This car is gorgeous and it sounds fantastic!
I remember seeing this car being used to show off Porsche’s new synthetic fuels, it will forever remain iconic to me.
@Ben Ben.... how the great have fallen.
@Ben You made me click off a 24/7 puppy livestream for this shit, not cool Ben
Definitely a certified hood classic
@Ben Oh boy, another video to dislike and report!
8:22 makes the car more aerodynamic by letting out air trapped in the wheel arches-> reduced air pressure - > reduced air pressure gradient ->reduced drag coefficient & less lift (more down force at the front)
Nahh its not really about the drag. As Andreas Preuniger Head of GT Department said in a podcast they have to do it, because of the amount of downforce at the back of the Car when it comes to RS models. It is necesarry because otherwise the Balance of the Car would suck.
more downforce, grips corners better
Reminds me of the flying mercedes' at le mans
Less air pressure in the front wheel wells is going to help keep the front end planted.
I just LOVE watching Doug have fun (And love even more that after driving EVERYTHING he has, he still just is elated to drive such a machine)
Thanks for yet another fantastic review. I love to watch you smile every time you hit the downshift or the accelerator. Keep up the good work 🙂
Doug in 2 years: "THIS is my new GT4 RS!"
You know u have a truly great car at hand when Doug remains quiet rather than chat away when driving the car....... Amazing video.... Thanks Doug for the wonderfully detailed video of this great Porsche
Porsche saw Singer and realized that the collectible nature of min-maxxed cars is off the charts. E.g. what would happen if you put the best of everything available to Porsche on any given model? GT3RS engine/Trans/suspension/brakes on the 718 model. It's fabulous. It's like the 914-6. Those values are insane right now.
I love the fact that Porsche continues to produce cars with soul and sportiness like this Cayman GT4 RS
Agree. I also love that they don't stray too far from their iconic body style
@Jimmy Two Times Compared to where cars are going and how most have indeed become boring, I think we should just appreciate some of the last hurrahs before everything becomes electric.
@Jimmy Two Times this car is miles better than the emira in every way possible
@Jimmy Two Times you said porsche is heavier and etc then recommends the emira? If you watched car wow, they even said lotus makes lightweight nimble cars and the emira is heavy as hell. You just contradicted yourself. Cars have to be heavier for more modern regulations, safety standards. All that. Of that wasn't the case, the damn chaparral 2j would still be around somehow. 🙄
Only problem is at 6’2 I couldn’t get in a lotus Elise. Let alone consider fitting in one. Nice looking car though. Your practically sitting on the ground in the Elise it’s so low. Like a go kart
I know this is buried, I just had to say that this is hands down Dougs best review of a car. The driving section is perfect
That exhaust sound pull as he drove by a Tesla is great
Agreed 💯 😅
the sounds are symphonic, everything you'd ever want to hear from a car, the induction sounds give it a videogame'y feel too
The one car that just HAS to pass him? Of course it’s a Dodge Charger.
Totally agree! Was going to write the same comment. Doug’s enthusiasm was just bubbling out during the drive!
Absolutely perfect review. I love Caymans so much! They really are the pinnacle sports car to me.

Finally, a video where Doug actually goes through some gears haha
When it comes to styling, this is def a 10/10 for me. Beautiful outside and the sound is just glorious.
Even the black wing struts?
Rear not aggressive enough
Looks like a pimped-up car from Need For Speed.
Probably considering all of the other cars he has driven, I think a 6 is appropriate from him. For the general population, a 7.5 is probably more accurate.
wing struts are disgusting though. Also no way Cayman is 10/10. What would be Carrera, Spyder or 911 GT3 then? (not even talking about older 911 models which are a lot nicer)
Man you do some of the best reviews! Much appreciated!
Excellent review and seeing the joy and excitement was amazing - wish I could swing the cost as that is an awesome ride
You could really tell how much you love this car when you were driving it. One of my favorite driving reviews just because of how excited you were.
I've driven a lot of Porsches, and own 2. The 2 in my garage have the engine in the middle for a reason. Regardless of transmission this car will go down in Porsche history as one of the greats. Especially considering the mid-engined platform is slated to go EV.
Three reasons it won't. It's an ugly Autozone special. No manual. Engine overwhelms the chassis at pace, period. GT3 far superior.

Hey Doug, just FYI: the logo on the front hood is not only a decal for weight reasons, it's also because embedding it in the carbon fiber hood would increase cost and complicate manufacturing. It's not impossible, just cheaper that way. The put it on every carbon fiber front hood. The weight-saving-claim is probably just a marketing thing and negligible.
he knows.
No it's cheap!
That's a really good point, hadn't thought about that.
Nice one
>saves weight with the badge >adds weight with decals
Doug! You had the perfect chance to mention something quirky about that bumble bee landing on this yellow and black car! 10:13
Wonderful driver experience Dougie. Thumbs up as always.

A modern Cayman R would actually be an instant classic. Manual, 4.0, no/smaller wing, magnesium wheels, in some PTS colors👀
718 gts 4.0
It would also be around four hundred thousand USD after dealer markup, and thats being conservative. Its the type of thing Porsche said they want to avoid.

It is not very often when you see Doug so focused on driving that he doesn't talk much. He thoroughly enjoyed this ride and so did I. His expression said everything. I loved the sound and feel just by looking this on YT. Lucky are the people who get to experience this.
I agree with just about everything you’ve said, I have a 2009 Cayman S that is a complete track car, stripped out interior coil over suspension yada yada yada. I was dying to get my hands on a GT four with a PDK, and was looking forward to this car as well. When I saw that they were basically going to be unobtainable for at least a couple of years, I went and bought a 2019 GT3RS. It’s quite a special car, I don’t regret my choice. And I still have my Cayman. The wife and I both track our cars, and we do about 50 to 60 track days a year.

I agree 100%! Six speed manual on RS models will make sales skyrocket! I love hearing about all the corks and features of the RS, but the fact that it does not come in an optional manual configuration, makes me lean towards the regular GT4
The weissach package is a must for the sound that the carbon airbox creates which sounds amazing inside.
Love your reviews!! I’m a huge huge fan of the Cayman having owned 3 myself including a GTS. Best car I’ve ever owned hands down…..I can not imagine what a Cayman with 500 hp must feel like 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
I love the classic Porsche design sooooo much and this is definitely the most beautiful to date. I’d say this is peak Porsche

Lexus LFA : "Ummm...hold my beer!"
Should add a sentence on "for the money" or "affordably" and also easier to maintain or not known for maintenance nightmares. I guess that's still leave lots of other cars like the Gallardo is pretty cheap now and sounds worse than this but still extremely good for the money, but has some big potholes in terms of ownership especially the auto trans units
Lexus LFA, Porsche Carrera GT....
I always trust Doug's reviews! He is worth ringing the bell!
Amazing car. Serious power and the soundtrack is great.
I am guessing that when Doug says “he has friends that want to buy this car” he means “he wants to buy this car”.
Honestly I think the door handle fabric loop looks cool, nice contrast to door and matching the seatbelt :)
Honestly, when you start a sentence with "Honestly", it makes it sounds like you are telling the truth for the first time.

Felicitaciones lucas! A por más!
Absolutely love this car! I've always been a GT3 RS fan but this is focus driven like Doug said. It's a better track version of a GT3 RS. Some will hate me for saying that but the Mid engine really makes a different with performance. Less chance of oversteer or the rear sliding out on you cause the weight is centralized between the axles. I've only just found this new version of the 718 GT4 RS recently and I love it every bit of it. Doug said it rides terribly when you're on street and it's true, but nobody buys a car like this for the "Comfort". They buy it for show pieces(which I'm not a fan of) or they buy it to fulfill its racing heart. Porsche always has my heart. ❤
I could watch Doug just drive this for 20 mins straight with those reactions and that sound, lol.
Doug, your car reviews are hands down the best 👍 Been watching for years, and as an absolute car enthusiast really like you showing real details
I don’t know why but this is maybe my favorite Doug video. Such a cool car, great video
I like what you have done with the background ! Really on the level with the Porsche. Cleaning the car would also be important. Not sure what Porsche thinks about that !
One "quirk" of the PDK: if you're cruising around and want to accelerate quickly, floor it and then press a little harder. There is a notch after what you think would be the bottom of the pedal. It instantly drops you into the lowest gear you can be in. Seems like not a lot of people know this.
That's some amazing creative engineering. Hahaha that's so cool it's exciting
VW GTI had this as well as my S4's. Is this the true function of this?
Yeah, its called kick down, Mercedes had it on his automatic models since the first ML suv in1998 🤣🤣
This looks insanely good and sounds insanely good, from what I've heard Porsche's GT lineup have incredible chassis and they are really great cars to drive.
Never heard Doug appreciate a car this much ...💯💯

Best review you've done in a while. Man, the engine! Since we're on naturally aspirated "screamers". I emailed you a year ago offering to let you review my 2014 Audi Rs5. Don't blame you not wanting to go to NC..lol. But of all the cars you've reviewed, you really need to do a v8 Rs5. Not the run-of-the-mill Turbo6 that are in the new ones. But the naturally aspirated 4.2 V8 of the 2013-2015 model. 8250rpm redline in a cross-plane v8....unreal. You would love that engine.

Doug!!! Please bring the old format for the Doug's score! It makes it interesting to hear your perspective on the criteria. And it keeps the anticipation to see where you'd list it and how many points it'll get rather than getting the list straight away! 😊
I came here to post this exact thing.
According to Doug on Twitter: "Adds 1 minute to each video that I can't spend on quirks/features, which is what people want to see. Plus tons of me saying "Like all cars in this class, it gets a 5 out of 10 for practicality." Doesn't add much, but current format lets me give a good, concise, overall summary."
@@bonzobonanza That sucks. I've only started losing interest and leave the video at the end after this format. He used to do it for "More Doug Demuro" and it's understandable cause he'd review some "side" cars. But it's annoying to see it here on some major vehicles.
Always loved the space and headroom you have in a Porsche...
I hope you one day get one of these, Doug.✌🏻
The joy in you face while driving and the sound of that engine is just what my day needed!

This is Doug having more fun than usual (at least shown) lol Smash that gas! 😎
The bee landing on wing when detailing the GT4RS logo on the wing was a nice touch. The yellow and black game recognizes game.
PPF would have to be mandatory on those fenders and other areas rocks get slung from the front tires. Hanging my left arm out of the window of my RX-7 leaves my arm stinging from tiny rocks, I can't imagine how mangled someone's arm would look hanging out of the window of one of these 😅
"I can't look for cops" I've never related more to Doug.
I was on the Porsche website recently and the 2023 cayman GT4RS Weissach package also adds a half roll cage, outside of the carbon trim & magnesium wheel option. (I might have misremembered it a bit though) Also you can do a speaker/center media control delete. An extreme, but very real weight saving option.

Great video Doug. FYI, noticed your suction cup camera mount. If you want to capture the best footage angle I use the RoadSpy RS1 on my Cayman. Way way better than those suction cups.

I’m a little surprised that so car companies are walking away from manuals in performance vehicles. I really think that car companies are underestimating how many people actually enjoy driving manuals. Especially in sport cars that are very visceral and well connected to the road.
