What the hell. I was waiting for the moments when you'd install that honey-comb 3d printed shell and other mods. Trick it completely out, but it never happened. The whole video is just: use a lighter battery and then the Looney Tunes theme.

Someone pitched an incredibly simple video that would cost them absolutely nothing and take about a day to get the batteries, swap them out, and shoot. I think the video would have been WAY better if they actually tested some of the mods, as opposed to just replacing the batteries. Mostly because they absolutely do have the means, and it would be cool to see. I find it hilarious that LTT would EVER give a crap about what people don't have access too at home. Bout to go watch them build a 100,000 dollar PC with sponsor parts, brb.

Going from a G502 to a G305 w/ the lighter lithium batteries was a gamechanger for me, micro movements were much more precise.
When working with photo editing, I prefer a more heavy mouse, it just stays put better without shifting around too easily.

I know, I looked how much time was left to be like "nah, they're going to at least do the 3d print". Oh, only a tiny bit of time left.
3D print a new case or put in a smaller battery. I think 8 min was pretty long just for that.
Well thanks for the tip! Going to do this right now! Update: the tinfoil worked, I made a coil of foil and made it create a spring motion to hold the battery in place and the triple a battery has made a huge difference. Thanks you guys!!!
I've always thought about a mouse that has a sensor at the tip... so that all the fingertips will point at the sensor while holding the mouse... theoretically, it should give you more accuracy, like holding a pen kinda feel... also it should help to cover more distance for wrist flickers, compared to the mouses that have the sensors in the middle...

I am willing to bet that companies have already tested different sensor placements and that on average, center placement was received the best. They are not going to spin up a whole production line for a niche product.

I did that all my sons Nerf gun cuz he was complaining that it's too heavy. Swapped d batteries for AA's. Plus D's are very expensive

This mouse is amazing for 3D modeling. I can't speak for gaming but the low profile is great to avoid fatigue.
Things you could've done: -swap the shell -create a 3d printed shell -drill holes jn the mouse to make it lighter
They said they could do that but most of their viewers could not. That's why they kept to mods that are widely available and easy to do.

In this video they're actually showcasing a really helpful tip that most regular viewers can easily replicate. If they went down the route of 3D printing and drilling holes, not many would actually view it to be something practical to actually do. My friend just gave me a mouse/keyboard/headphones set that he picked up at BJs for $20 (marked down from $50). It's marketed as a gaming set, so naturally, all three have rainbow colored LEDs. The mouse is super-light. In fact, the stiffness of the cord can push it around. I was actually thinking of opening it up and adding some weight to it. I do like that it's a larger size though. Most mice today seem to be made to fit the hand of a 10 year old.

Have had this mouse for a handfull of years. You don't need to print out a new shell, just pint out a paper with some dots in a staggered pattern, and use it as a stencil to just drill holes. Did it to mine, and it works great. Drilled holes in every square cm that I could, from top to bottom.
The battery hack is nice but I would like to see the 3d printed mods for the G305.

@@shyrz6396 What you guys don’t realize is that I spend 52 on mouse. 15 on 3D prints. 7 on mouse feet and batteries and then I spend a minimum of two hours putting it together. Total cost for me is 74 and I get 112.50 from you so it is a 38.50 profit for the hours that I put into making each mouse and the hours that I put into tweaking the files to make them better. This isn’t just buying a mouse and spending five minutes swapping the shells, it takes much more time than that. The left and right click buttons especially are a pain in the ass to make them feel good.

The only thing I don't like about it is how loud the click is. But I replaced my old corsair with it. It had started double clicking on a single click. But no wire? Honestly, it's pretty NICE. And I don't mind a "heavy" mouse. I mean come on, it isn't that heavy. It's just nice not having a wired mouse.

4 years later and I just recently got the G305 and I have to say its really nice and the price dropped half the price where I got it for only 25 USD, great pick up and overall a nice mouse especially if you are just now switching from wired to wireless mouse!
Putting on some 100 percent PTFE feet would make it seem even lighter due to the smoother glide so definitely recommend to get it

I just love watching this video. I modified my G305 (G304 in India) using the tin foil and a AAA battery and it now weighs 78 gms. And that's just awesome!! And now playing Valorant is way more enjoyable!!

As a longtime fan, I both enjoyed and was disappointed by this video. The battery swap is interesting and cool. The mentioned methods of weight reduction are cool. I love how the crew reviews the mouses. What's disappointing is that video offers so much in the title but lacks. If the content teased in the video was included this would be an amazing video. In reality its a great video setup with missing content. The way that the video says we stuck to things only our viewers can do does not represent my view of the LTT way. In my experience, the LTT way is to ignore what is logical for the video viewers and to do something amazing, while occasionally offering a realistic way for viewers to achieve a similar result. I personally believe this video deserves a follow up delivering content teased here. It would be great to have a video showing about tearing apart a mouse and 3d printing a new casing for it. Then afterwards showing a DIwhy method of doing it with a drill and stuff like that. I enjoyed (laser) James hosting the video. It was great to see content that reflects what Linus has said about seeing the machine (LTT) working. You guys probably won't read this comment, but as a long time fan I really wanted to leave feedback since you always say you read the comments. PS: Taran Rules

100% agree. The battery replacement is nice and practical, and would have been great to include AFTER they'd spent ages 3D-printing and doing crazy mods like drilling holes everywhere in the original chassis.

i am currently using this mouse right now and i can say its amazing, it fits in my hand perfect and i like the way it slides, even though its a chonky one it has a good feel for its weight, its quick in response time and it has a sensitivity button straight on it where you can change from slow, medium, quick, fast for your personal preference. the scroll wheel and clicks feel nice aswell and for me atleast my fingers are in the sweet spot of where you should click. i can also say its durable as i've had it for a year and 3 months till yesterday where a needed to change the battery in it. in terms of physical strength aswell it is rigid and feels of quality, i've dropped this things down the stairs and off my desk a couple of times cause i've knocked it over or my cat knocked it over lmao :) I WOULD DEFINETLY RECCOMEND THIS MOUSE ITS AMAZING AND IM NOT PLANNING ON CHANGING IT UNTIL IT IS OUTDATED AF!!!!!
How does the scroll wheel rubber feel? It looks very similar to the one I had on my G102. The problem was that in about a year of intensive use (I'm a programmer) the rubber got all sticky and basically disintegrated slowly so that I could not rotate the wheel anymore. I removed the rubber completely, and now my bare plastic wheel is usable again. But, of course, after one more year, the left switch started double-clicking. I disassembled the mouse, replaced the switch in 5 minutes... and then spent 20 minutes assembling the mouse back because it had tiny PCB screws with flat threads that just refused to slide into the screwholes. I was so angry at Logitech. Why not use screws with sharpened threads that go easily into the holes? And now I'm waiting for when the scroll wheel will start glitching because that's what mechanical encoders do in about 3-4 years (if you are lucky).

I have a G502, G305 and G pro. All are excellent. I like my G pro more than my G305, but I've also put a lithium AAA into the 305 to get it within 2 grams of my G pro and I honestly love both. G502 is a chonker but it also kicks ass. You really cant go wrong with any of them.

I know this video is 2 years old but I still wish they would have done more than just 1 mod to the mouse. I would love to see a "How good can we make it?" video with this mouse were they go through doing the battery mod, printing parts for it, replacing the pads, and genuinely try to see if they can make a $40 mouse better than it's $150 counterpart.

With a 3d printer and accurate measurements that might be the pro solution, but for the diy guy at home a drill or a dremel come a long way. Make sure to disassemble it first.

Yeah, I don't have a printer, and buying one just for making a shell for a mouse seems a bit excessive. And with accurate measurements I mean that the printed form has to actually somewhat fit on the mouse. If tolerances are to lose it requires manual cutting to make it fit and at that point, why not just cut the piece that's already on there. Basically a 3d printer being "pro" as compared to just trying to do it with a knife and drill.

Anyone else have a G305 and don't think it's heavy at all? Feels perfectly fine to me.

i've had the G305 for about 2 years now. the heaviness is what u get used to in less than 2 weeks to be honest, and it doesn't even weight THAT much more to the point of being critical. wanted to go for g pro but it's just too damn expensive. i can get 3 g305s and get more value out of it. best mouse i ever had, didn't have to change batteries for more than a month, and I game A LOT , daily on regular basis.
If my hand could tell the difference between 88 grams and 82 grams I wouldn't have gotten ripped off so much in highschool okay? No but seriously tho

I'm amazed that everybody moves their entire arm to move a mouse. I can only vibe with mice where I plant my wrist stationary and only move it with finger articulation.
I take off the back cover while I play since that lowers the height and doesn't interfere with the back of my fingers. Paired with the battery adapter and AAA batteries, it's much lighter than the G Pro Wireless

Went from a G502 to the G305. The lack of wire and lower weight as well as smaller shape make it such a nice mouse for me. My skills definitely improved because of it. I'm currently ranked #1500 in the world with S1 kills on Apex, so this is definitely not a bad mouse and I'm still using the included Alkaline battery that came with it.
Exact same jump from both mice for me and it’s been great! Although I like the G502’s shape better
I've used the G305 extensively for the past year or so, and I can say without a doubt that it's a rocking mouse with "long battery life" (obviously might vary but still very good) On High Power mode. It also has an incredible amount of durability since as a gamer, I am very much prone to raging and have repeatedly smacked the mouse on the desk with no damage (to my knowledge) to be seen, although I have no comments on the weight since most of the mouse I've used in the past were as heavy if not more heavier than the G305, overall great product.
Got mine 6 months ago, now the scroll wheel randomly will tick in the opposite direction. Its incredibly annoying and i deeply regret getting this mouse.
I have the G613 wireless keyboard and the G305, the keyboard is too big for my desk so I had to crank the dpi on my mouse and now I game by moving my mouse millimeters with my thumb and stabilizing it with the rest of my hand. I actually love this mouse and I can game extremely well with it and the battery still has full charge after a year.

I know the 3D printing option isn’t really accessible for most people, but this seems like a really cool thing to see done.
You know what's best? You showed me how to change MY mouse into the better one. I just needed simple wireless mouse (because cables are bad and it literally remove the precision from it)
I'm still using a refurbished Logitech G402 I bought off Newegg in 2015 for around $25...its still going strong and its probably my favorite mouse I've ever owned.
Ever since you mentioned how important the first views are on the WAN show I've had notifications on, and finally I got the notification on time instead of 15min late. Gotta support my boi Linus

Why does everyone forget about the G602, not only does it have a lightspeed sensor it also has a more ergonomic grip and is regularly sold for $39.99
I love the G602, especially the 30+ day battery life on a single AA, but it could really benefit from being a couple mm or so taller, even after a few years of use I still hit the bottom side buttons with my thumb on occasion, also dunno about Logitech's other mice but this one at least in the past suffered from the switches wearing out after only 1-2 years, I had mine replaced three times under warranty compare that to a cheap $7 mouse I used for about five or more years prior and still works, not the greatest quality from Logitech.
This. I've been using a G602 for a few years. Best mouse I've ever used. I love it so much that I picked up a second one if my first one ever breaks.
