I bought my "Viper Ultimate" just yesterday (2/28/2020) before watching any reviews on it. I had only heard this mouse mentioned by people but never in detail. When i tried it when i got home after a day/night of using it and switching between the G Pro Wireless, I think the Razer Viper is actually going to replace my Logitech GPW (never thought i'd say that so quick and especially by a Razer Mouse) But it has been done & i LOVE this thing. from the feel to the shape, to the weight, color, design, just all around love this thing. Even the lil RGB charging dock it came with is pretty cool lol.
With all the bad rep Razer gets, their mouse almost never fail to deliver. With a few exceptions, they produce quality mouse that suit the needs for most gamers.. except Minecraft 1.8 PvPers (*cough, cough.. optical switch.. cough, cough*).
4:40 you want to use the cable that came with the mouse, they are designed so they dont wobble when you are using it wired. if it wobbles it can damage your cable and port.

$1.25!? How come?
I use the Razer Viper (corded) and its got great tactile rubberized side grips, with a nice click to it. I would have put the DPI switch on the top rather than underneath but aside from that its an awesome mouse. The only thing stopping me from going wireless with the Viper Ultimate is the price. In Australia they are more expensive than many high end mechanical keyboards. i use the Logitec G903 for that purpose and with the inifinite scroll wheel option, and the DPI gradient switches on top, its top notch. Just a little heavy for my money is all. The Viper Ultimate has got it beaten in that department for sure

Got lucky a month ago. Got this mouse at open-box (literally only touched the mouse; didn't even pull it out the box) at $105AUD [incl. shipping of course]. That translates to $75USD, and was probably closer to $70USD at the time of release (of this video). Now, I can only compare it to my Razer Viper, but I do say that wireless is amazing. The mouse is so much lighter without the cord and battery life (and how fast it charges) is everything I wanted. Also.. the RGB that fits my Huntsman Elite and half-dead Goliathus Chroma [...].

I wanted to love this mouse so much, especially for its docking experience. However, if you're someone who uses the same mouse in a shared peripheral setup with a Mac for work and PC for gaming, the complete lack of MacOS support for Synapse 3 is kind of a deal breaker. Razer has no plans to support MacOS moving forward, and while there is OpenRazer, it's hard to know when someone will fully port it over for MacOS. Unless you absolutely don't care about lighting getting out of sync between the dock and mouse, go with G Pro Wireless instead if you use a Mac for work
Great advice, thanks
Just picked one up. I'd been using a G203 for FPS games the last several years and for $30, IMO it's very hard to beat. I used a G502 for general use and RPG/RTS games, etc. The viper is just plain awesome. Going for the G203 to it was a pretty natural move and it feels similar overall to me. I use a fingertip/claw hybrid grip and it works fine. I'll still be using the G502 for general desktop and productivity use (the size and heft is better for that IMO), but the Viper Ultimate I'll likely be using across the board for gaming now, not just FPS.
I have an mx anywhere 2, and it has pretty much everything I want in a mouse. Infinite scrolling, 2 side buttons, wireless, rechargeable battery, side scrolling, and a design that isn't too wild. But I'd like all of that in a mouse that's closer to 120 mm in length, and that's surprisingly hard to find. I mean, it's hard to find a mouse that's 120 mm long full stop.
I have high hopes for the optical switches. I supply office supplies to my office and we go through mice like crazy. The most common issue regardless of brand is the infamous double clicking issue which manifest itself in an average of two years. We just bought a couple of Viper Minis (40 bucks each) because of the optical switches and we have high hope that it should last longer. We will see.
Are they still holding up, the optical switches?

It was a tough decision but I went with the Basilisk Ultimate. Glad I did based that they were both the same price but the Basilisk Ultimate offered so many other options for macro programming. No USB-C and Winter 2019 is just around the corner, yikes.
Even tho im a apple fan i hate their stubbornness about lightning connector
Yes, especially on a device that some people might plug in/out quite often. USB C sockets are much more durable and reversible. But i guess saving a few cents on the bill of materials was more important than the improved user experience...
SkyneT The viper ultimate comes with a magnetic charging dock that reportedly gives hours of play time after only 5 minutes of charge. I can see how the idea that the mouse not having usb-c can seem like a downside but I personally don’t see how it would be better to have the usb-c in this situation. Yes the usb-c is more durable, but since it comes with a charging dock that charges the mouse so quickly, I don’t really think the mouse needs a usb-c. Not having the usb-c also reduces the cost of manufacturing the mouse, which also reduces the cost of paying for the mouse.
@@Apsentee It's a $150 mouse. I don't think asking for usb-c is asking too much...
MP Lovecraft I agree it’s not asking too much, but I don’t think it’s such a big deal that it should stop people from wanting to purchase it. Especially since you’ll almost never be plugging it in in the first place.
As far as editors go, I'm sure most would prefer the 502 with the infinite scroll wheel and tons of buttons for macros and such. To recommend that to an editor is pretty silly.

As for using a different cable than the supplied cable to charge the mouse - You're not supposed to do that, at least not when using it. Both cables are shaped to friction fit against the plastic casing in the mice, removing any and all strain on the USB charging port itself. If you use a cable that fits loosely, when you're moving the mouse around forces are wiggling the charging port itself around in the mouse, and if done a lot for an extended amount of time it will damage the port and render it unchargable. This goes for all wireless mice, especially those that can't be charged with a dock or with Qi charging.

Been using Death Adders for a decade until I change for Logitech as they brought the Pro Wireless, what a game changer! I plan to move back to Razer soon and buy the new Viper Ultimate. I still can't unsee the new Basilisk Ultimate though, I kept spamming Razer to make it wireless and even though they surely didn't read any of my spam, they still have made it! Still a bit too heavy for a FPS mouse but it does the same weight as the wired and it's wireless now, great improvement.

Unless it is paired with a wireless charging mouthpad so that you won't even worry about charging.
That's the only (minor) gripe with my mx master tbh
Well EXCUSE ME for being dirt poor for several years, now!
I have the G Pro Wireless and i recently tried out the Viper Ultimate. Comparing the two, the G Pro feels better when it comes to shape. The side buttons are in a perfect position but on the Viper the side buttons stick out a little bit more and i found my digits accidentally pressing them when using the main left click and right click buttons. Also the Viper uses Razer's Synapse software. Synapse feels janky when I start up my computer. It shows a pop-up every time you turn the PC on and its a bit of a memory hog. It also requires an always-on internet connection otherwise if you don't, your chosen custom lighting effects will not work. They simply cycle through all the colors randomly. The G Pro Wireless on the other hand, has software that is less intrusive and more memory efficient. And if you lose internet connection it doesn't matter because the Logitech G Pro Wireless has built-in memory that can save up to 3 of your favorite custom color settings to use offline.
Thanks for the review. Is there one that you can recommend that's truly wireless (no dongle)?

I have both the GPW and the Viper Ultimate and I can say that I rather prefer to use the GPW for video editing or browsing. Because the GPW has a more relaxed and safe shape, it is more comfortable to hold for a longer period of time, it also has a less stiff scroll wheel.
