  • Would have liked to hear it fire up at the dock and hear it idle for the first time. You make a beautiful 30 minute movie about a million dollar boat and you play 2 cent canned music over those engines. Not everything needs a sound track.

    @stephendennis5969@stephendennis596911 ай бұрын
    • It was definitely a miss. Engines firing for the first time should have been included, but nothing was staged here. We captured everything in real time and this was something that was just missed. Appreciate the feedback though! Hope you still enjoyed it.

  • These mercury engines were developed from mercurys involvement with the corvette ZR1 in the early 1990s. Mercury, Chevrolet and Lotus built a four cam small block but no one company held a patent so mercury ran with it. Very happy to see Monster sponsoring the most epic form of racing

    @boburwell9921@boburwell992111 ай бұрын
    • As the story goes, Lotus designed the LT4 heads. GM already had the small block. Offered in C4 ZR1's and 1996 GrandSport models with manual. Where Merc made their most recent mistake is not developing the LS line. You do not require a big block to make 1,000 hp these days. By not doing so, they CREATED this clamp-on outboard sillyness which they already owned. Devious marketing on their part, but now Ilmore is in the LS powered marine game. Anyhoo, I love that they are not using slower M6 drives. I'm sure mercury was not happy walking out of that meeting...

A truly superb job done by ALL that participated in the production of a documentary that shows JUST WHAT IT TAKES to produce a potential Class 1 winner (time will tell) for the new OffShore 2023 Class 1 season. Have attended (so far) 2 of the 2023 Races- Cocoa Beach & Sarasota, with plans for near term 2 more, this coming Sep. (St. Petersburg, then Clearwater), before deciding whether to plan on season ender at Key West (expensive to travel to, even for a Florida resident like myself), but have become a HUGE MCON Racing fan, thus am hoping for continued success for Myrick, Tyler, Jake, Craig and others of the GREAT MCON Racing team. Less prop choices fir the conditions. More to go wrong with 4 small vs 2 large units. Easier to work on inboards and customize cooling intakes etc. quad outboards are for Haulover posing. In the smaller power classes, twin outboards are king.

I was lucky enough to have a ride in a P1, and my kidneys didn't thank me for the experience. It's great that sponsors like Monster are supporting this class, and hopefully that'll attract more money and coverage. That seemed to kill the class last time, but now there's more coverage available via TV or streaming, I'm hoping it'll get more people watching. It always made me sad that despite the UK having a proud tradition in offshore, it rarely got any interest from our TV channels. Then again, I was told one of the challenges with covering offshore is the camera helicopters couldn't keep up.
