  • That third one was awesome just a look of that Hilborn injection system on top was just awesome to see. I can remember watching the early 1Cam Am cars out in Midland Texas on the test track and you could see those big injectors sticking out of the bodywork. Very cool.

  • I raced boats back in the early 90s and I can say I've had some pretty awesome engines over the yrs. Fastest I've ever been on the water is 198 MPH. never could hit the even 200MPH sadly. I wasn't sponsored so alot of it came out of my own pocket start out. Luckily I started getting sponsors help but by then I had already decided to get out of the sport and ended up getting into (of all things) tractor pulling. Haha. Turns out tractor pulling was awesome. You're literally riding a bomb so to speak. I still have my boat and take it out from time to time to open it up down the lake. I have a 429 boss motor in it btw... for those that don't know...feels so much faster when on the water because of you being closer to the surface than in a car. Adrenalin sky rockets...haha

    • If you happen to read this, I'd be interested to hear you expand a bit on your description of the tractor pull experience being like riding a bomb. I've only been to a few when I was a kid so I remember very little about it. However, I know that the insanely modded-up engines and flaming pipes made quite an impression on me at the time. Is it bomb-like in the sense that the engine is performing at the absolute limit of what it can tolerate before it explodes? I'm thinking of something like Top Fuel drag racing, where the engines have to be rebuilt after every run because they've been destroyed by their own sheer power.

    • Years ago I was into fast boats also. Once, I skied behind a drag boat on 1 ski. I had an accident and fell at over 100 mph. Water behaves very differently at high speed. Skipped across lake for over a hundred feet, ripped my vest flotation off, shredded my wet suit, and ski never came off. Thought both legs were broke and almost drowned before boat came back. Never did that again, although plenty of high speed runs inside the safety of the boat.

  • Pretty awesome compilation! That first boat though sounded as if it had som trouble with the lifters. Sounded exactly like the start-up of a GTO mk 3 "the judge". I was lucky enough to capture. That's something you don't get to see too often here in Sweden unless you're a regular visitor of cruises. The owner explained it all to me, after he was able to stop lauging at my reaction from the exhaust being re-egnited (scared shittles, lol! 😂)

The water was so low last year I couldnt get the lift out for my Donzi its a 22.5 ft with a blown 502 bored .30 over and a good set of heads, its sure NOT a 198 MPH boat (thank God) but it will run in the mid 80s which plenty fast enough for me!

I don't know what it is about people with headers on their boats, but almost all of them insist on making the thing as loud and pig rich as possible to the point that it'll barely run and idle without a fight. Just so they can idle around the lake showing off what a monster they have, then wonder why it sucks so much gasoline.
