    • Most boxing fans (and sports fans in general) are the lowest common denominator, beer-swilling-blue-collar-mouth-breathers. And I mean every word of that. They don't know what they are watching, from the military-precision of an NFL play unfolding, to a boxing technical genius like Floyd. That's why sports are marketed to them in particular, because it's easy to get their attention, their emotions, and their money. The average fans often associate defensive brilliance with "getting on the bicycle and running away" when it isn't. Floyd sets traps, counter-punches, but also has good lead offense. As his right hand broke down later in his career, he had to change some things, but it didn't stop him from being the best in the business.

    • Sugar Ray Robinson in the 1940s was untouchable at welterweight, no one could stop his offense or hit him much, but sadly his fights were never filmed this early on or haven't survived. Only a 29-40 year old Robinson from like 1951 onward exists on film and he was STILL kicking arse in his mid to late 30s. On film perhaps a 1964-1967 Ali or a 1985-1988 Tyson matches Floyd's "hit/ not get hit" talent combination. Floyd defensively is the best no doubt. Tyson's KO leverage was scary insane, but Ali was a 210 pound Sugar Ray Robinson who would jab you to complete death while dancing around like a bunny. That;s why Ali is number one. Both were heavyweights as well so they get more shine than Floyd.

    • @@bim69 Ali from 1964-1967 I put up against any heavyweight that ever lived. He would've held the title until at least 1975-76 had the government not banned him from boxing. Louis, Tyson, Foreman. They all would lose to that Ali. Ali would dance for 15 rounds and just nail you constantly with that insane long jab. Any fighter would have closed eyes by the 10th round. Floyd isn't even the best Welterweight that ever lived, We all know that was Sugar Ray Robinson. I'm not saying it wouldn't be close, but Sugar Ray is the number 1 P4P fighter of all time for a reason. I put Floyd 3rd behind Sugar Ray and Ali on that list. The losses Ali suffered was after he lost that speed and he still had the chin and skill to beat Foreman at 33 years old. Floyd didn't have a KO in his last 11 fights except against a UFC fighter and that cheap shot vs Ortiz. Look it up. I think Floyd's lack of KO power for the last 13 years of his career just can't put him above my top 2. Floyd really peaked after the Gatti fight. If he retires right there the argument might be different. Maybe. Floyd had too many decisions late in his career when he coasted on his amazing defense not putting himself at risk all offensively to protect his perfect record. Rocky Marciano went 49-0 and was KOing everyone he faced even in his last fight vs Archie Moore. Now that;s a perfect record. Just sayn.

  • This was Mayweathers prime. His reflexes were at there best. His hands were still pretty good. allowing him to punch without hesitation. Speed and legs were in top form. Corner was free of melodrama. Gatii was finished at this point and should have taken his money and retired after this fight. The last 3 fights after this ended in KO and probably led to CTE and other problems ending his life too early.

    • This version of Floyd was stopping top 5 p4p guys.. and was the belt snatcher , destroying every #1 ranked opponent in every sanctioning body. Nobody has beaten more world champions or hall of fame fighters while they were undefeated!
