    • mssusanmarie 1 second ago Contrary to popular belief cats and raccoons usually get along just fine. My domestic indoor/outdoor cats always got along well with the wild raccoons in my area. The raccoons regularly came into the house to eat the cat's dry food. My cats mostly ignored them, or just watched them calmly. They never spoke unkindly to one another, or fought. I miss them all now that I live in an apartment, and they've all crossed the rainbow bridge. I have delightful memories of them though.

  • I made my hallway into a cat run. But I did it with random items. It started with an old twin mattress that is the base for the whole system. She loves to climb it so I covered it with durable and decorative fabric she can sink her claws into. She spends hours on it napping or uses it for play or just doing her royal “my feet can’t deign to touch the floor” thing. I have a tall sisal and carpet cat tree next to the window. From there is a short but fun jump for her onto the climbing wall. Then I have a series of varying height shelves she can jump onto. On the lowest one I attached a nice little fluffy rug that she likes to nap on. The one at the far end is her treat shelf. From the hallway she can transition to a similar system that circles my bedroom ending with my tall entertainment center. In the living room she can also transition from the hallway system to a system where she can walk all the way to the front door without touching the floor if she wishes. I use the hallway for her play run. But I love some of the items you have on your system. Mine is a work in progress. Your babies seem to appreciate your hard work

  • You are so clever and such a great pet parent. Those kids are super lucky to have you two. It was fun to watch you build it and then see them enjoy it. The cats are definitely more agile than the raccoons. Was that Cheeto? struggling to get thru the space? Haven't seen him in awhile. Thanks for this educational entertaining video. And thanks to Catastrophic Creations

  • I bet the critters would feel more secure on those platforms if they had fabric or carpet on them instead of slick wood. We tend to forget their paws aren't as grippy as our hands and at those heights, having a little extra for the claws to sink into would make them even more confident.

  • I design hvac systems. I was at a new home custom build doing my job. then I noticed a cat meowing behind and above me. he got the house with catwalks in nearly every room of the house. some even passed through walls and went up an entire floor. I was more impressed with that than some home theater rooms I've seen built. hey, if the cats bring you joy then I think it's great.

  • I’ve wanted to make a climbing wall for my 4 cats, they’re a year young and going stir-crazy wanting to jump off of & climb everything. As lovely as this company’s furniture is it’s likely out of many ppls budget….unless you buy ONE item. My cats would destroy most of it in a month. I would love to see videos on how to make our own cost friendly pieces of furniture….poor ppls cats deserve cool furniture too 🥺

    • I made a really cool kitty castle out of a couple discarded carpet tubes. Carpet stores are happy to sell remnants and may not even charge you for the tubes. They are really dense and sturdy, if you have a small electric saw you can do all kinds of stuff with them. Discarded branches from tree trimmings work well, too.

    • We installed most of the pieces in May and the end footage was filmed in august. Three full months and all the pieces look great still!! And that’s with 5 cats and 2 raccoons playing on them constantly. So I’d say the pieces are high quality and super durable!

  • That's quite a family. Never let it be said we can't all get along if dogs, cats and raccoons can't manage to make it work. But, I sure hope you never want to take any sizable furniture up or down that hallway. Nice video!

  • Love the cat wall! Could one order bigger platforms? These seems a bit small... I know it’s for hallway so they don’t take up too much space but my cats are huge and I know they would love wider steps...

    • @@TitoTheRaccoon Thankyou. I think there needs to be something between the little cloth bridge and the wooden bridge, for access for the racoons from one to the other. The platforms are rather small. I think I would save my money and make my own if I wanted this, there are many things you could do and use, imagination could run wild.
