I'm beginning to think Mark's narration is my favorite part of these video clips. He makes being outside on a cold morning sound like you are seeing something very special is taking place. This was another gem.
Hi Mark, Your description of bird and nature is so poetic...It elevated the observations of viewers.
Thanks
Wonderful footage and images, only discovered your channel December 2023 also loved your laid back commentary, as a retired Falconer of 27 years I especially love raptors, I'm still an avid birdwatcher and take a few photographs but on these chilly evenings in Northern England I enjoy some good wildlife on KZhead, thanks for your entertaining channel.
All your Videos deserve thumbs up. 👍👍👍
Beautiful Mark simply beautiful Thank you.
Stunning images and footage, great narration, magical video, thank you from an aged birder in North East England 🇬🇧
I'm fortunate to live in an area where snowy owls congregate in the winter. I've gotten some wonderful photos of them this year. They are the only owls I've ever gotten photos of owls I've ever been able to photograph. I'm constantly on the lookout for them. Lots of hawks and eagles around here to keep me busy, and ospreys during the summer months. Loved this video. Thanks for sharing, as always!
where do u live.

I am artist in traditional Chinese brush painting style I have recently become a huge fan of Owls and your videos absolutely inspire me !!!
I was blessed to see one fly over and it's wing span was probably 4 feet wide. Also great other birds you caught on film.
What an amazing experience! Fantastic images!! Excellent story telling!
Hi Mark, Fascinating video and your commentary on wonders of nature and its contrast brought to us in the comfort of our house while you are out at odd hours in the cold. thanks. Got to admire the snowy owl at close quarters.
You have a knack for nature story telling.
There are lots of great cameras available that do some amazing things, but in Mark's hands............WOW! I can't wait to see this video and this amazing bird.
😘 Well said Ralph!
Agree, a lot of good cameras, but Mark hands are WOW!!!
Yeah this is a $20,000 rig he's using. Want photos like these, drop 20k and get out there.
"A living work of art." Not a bad description of your own work embodied in this video. It always makes my day a little better when you publish one of your videos. Please keep up the great work.
Amazing video Mark! Please keep sharing your knowledge and expertise with us. There is no doubting your skills, God has truly blessed you. That coupled with your apparent calling (and willingness) to share, educate, and inspire sets you apart from all the rest. Thank you (and your family) for all you do! God Bless!
We visited the Short-eared Owls in our local wildlife refuge last week and enjoyed hearing their funny, sneezing calls. Such great birds!
We have had a snowy owl camping out in central Ohio since November. I have visited it several times. Beautiful birds.
I like the face mask that you used for a Hammock, spectacular pictures
Thanks
@@MarkSmithphotography your welcome
Wow the short eared owls look like turbine engines on a jet. The Golden eyes are awesome. Fabulous photos. Loved watching thanks.
You are my favorite photographer; that's not a compliment I offer lightly. I also love the effort you put into your commentary. You're an inspiration. Cheers.
Thanks
Your Photography is amazing, I love to see owls flying and you captured that. Thanks.
Youre my favorite photographer channel here in KZhead
Mark it was a pleasure seeing you in Toronto yesterday. Hope your short-eared owl images turned out well. Look forward to seeing your images.
It was a pleasure meeting you as well. I had a great time and captured some beautiful images and video.
I’m not even into bird photog and I love this chanel
Wow two amazing owls 🦉 in one day how incredible!
First time here. The love you have for photography, coupled with your love for nature is a win for all of us! Thank you for sharing!
My god I really want a short ear owl ,but it is very rare specially for someone like me who lives in the middle of nowhere. That bird is one of the most beautiful animals on the planet Hope one day I will have one and thanks for the video ❤
Two of my favourite Owls! Beautiful!
Had the privilege to see a Snowy Owl several years ago in Oregon. Just the sheer majesty of the bird is something to behold. Cant wait to see what you have in store for us Mark.
Thanks for sharing I sit in wonder at the amazing photos.
(Given the weather in Florida the last week, you shouldn't have felt too much out of your comfort zone.) The short eared owls are amazing shots and the snowy owls are beautiful! Thanks Mark.
The patterns on the Snowy owls are amazing sure would look great on. Black or blue shirt! You’d perception of nature is a true gift.
This video is nothing less than vitamins for the soul. Wonderful!
Owl lands on twig tree : )) Amazing !
Beautiful work, Mark, and your narration is excellent as always. Thank you for sharing these trips!
I never knew mirrorless cameras were that good, now to find one I can afford
Very good photos Mark, I always enjoy your KZhead videos
Astonishing creatures, astonishing shots! Congrats!
Glad to see another video from you Mark. You never disappoint. Wonderful subjects and photographs.
Absolutely loved the series of images of the shortie landing on the twig, amazing 👍
Well done. I would not mind just looking at your videos with a nice chill background music. Just a joy for my eyes.
We have been waiting weeks for a new Mark Smith video, the wait was worth it. Spectacular!
My favorite part of the video was the short eared owl attaching the harrier. Great capture.
As a bird photographer who resides in the mid-Atlantic, I know precisely the two places you visited. While the Snowies are simply incredibly beautiful apex predators, something about those Shorties does it for me. They are my favorite owl. Super enjoyable content. You do great work!
If you don’t mind me asking where is that field located? I’ve been trying to photograph short eared owls for the longest can’t seem to spot them here in New Jersey
@phillymanpete I’m curious as to where one could find these locations while visiting the east coast?
WOW!! What amazing photographs of these beautiful owls!! Thanks for showing!
I saw my 1st snowies at Jones Beach this winter. Your video took me back to that amazing morning.
Magnificent shots. Favorite shots were the short-eared owl trying to balance on the tiny limb.
Amazing. Sony needs to send you their latest camera for testing.
There is no need for a newer, "better" camera, it is the guy behind the camera who makes these amazing photos.
@@Zwiesel66 "Testing" purposes
@@Zwiesel66 In my opinion the vast majority of the photos that just jump out at me and make me say WOW, are shots made with the 400 or 600mm prime long lenses. The shots I’ve seen on here lately by so many using the 600mm f1.4 have blown me away along with the price. I truly finally believe to put my $$ in glass. Any recommendations, should I get the 400 f2.8 or the 600mm f4
Right place right time nice move to go out of your comfort zone you did amazing detail on all of these photos you go
It is a total shame that someone would steal from you. I love your clips, love the owls. I really look forward to seeing your clips. Thank you.
Another well organized and narrated video with your usual outstanding photography. The short eared owls I find are always TFA - Too Far Away😄
Wonderful owls 🦉 Thanks for your fantastic work. Very inspirational 👍🏿🦉
I stumbled upon your videos and am really enjoying them and your amazing photography.
Thanks
Beautiful creatures
Your pictures and video are stunningly beautiful, and you're narration paints the background. I referred to you as the Bob Ross of wildlife photography. Love your art!!!
Mark your Channel is excellent in all ways. Despite the world-class photography, my favorite thing is the narration. I refer people to your chanel at least once a week. Thank you for your excellent efforts.
OMG snowy owl is one of my very favorite birds! Can't wait to see the video!
Short Eared owls are absolute beauties. They are Migratory in my area. Very rare. I saw one at start of 2021. And i assumed my 2021 is going to be legendary. along with owls, your narration is also treat to hear. Following you since D500
Beautiful, amazing owls! 🦉💗 Thanks, Mark, for sharing your great photography!
I love these two gorgeous owls. Your video and stills are simply gorgeous.
The SEOs are truly captivating. Made several trips up there trying to see as much of them before the sun set. Then it snowed and a friend said that they hate to stay on the ground in the snow - and also have to spend more time hunting - so they came out in droves during the day and it was a total SEO photophest.
Sounds awesome
Mark you'r a master story teller. Fantastic stuff, If i ever get to cross the pond I cannot wait to see snowy owl. All the very best .
Great work Mark! always love to see your content. Glad you are able to make it up north to see the owl. :)
Amazing footage all through this video, my favorite part was the shorteared owl on the tiny stick. Beautiful bird, beautifully captured!
I love the snowy owl in the hammock. 🦉 LOL! Good video. 👍🏻
Breath taking man!
Great video Mark. Your comment on the short eared owls colours popping even in dull conditions is so true. Their Latin name flammeus, translated from Latin correctly, means "on fire".
That makes total sense!
Great episode Mark! Those Snowy Owls were cool , but the Short-eared images were amazing!
Really enjoyed your S.E.O video we have the chance most winters to photo these fantastic owls in the u.k and it is always a treat in the dark grey months.
Great video Mark. The shorties were amazing.
Thanks Mike
A tip from a Canadian friend of mine, told me to wrap my scarf around the outside of the hoodie rather than the inside. That way less wind will swirl around inside your hoodie keeping your head and neck warmer.
Awesome. Thanks!
I really can't pick my favorite...all the photos and video are amazing. Really enjoy your channel.
Mark, as usual i always enjoy your photography n your narrations! Look forwards for your next amazing series! -Malaysia
Mark, you are a great photographer, AND a great story teller. I love your commentary for your photo trips...I always look forward to your videos!
I love the toy owl in the hammock! LOL!
Absolutely stunning!
As always Mark, your video was awesome. Instructional as well as beautiful photography of these amazing birds.
We had a family of 5 Short Eared Owl's at my local nature reserve last winter. Just a 2 minute walk away. The local Magpies kept teasing them. At one point had 7 Magpies with 1 owl. It did not seem at all interested in them. Amazing to watch and photograph. I felt very lucky
More good shots. I haven't hardly used my A9 with the 200-600 and my A7riv due to the fact my right shoulder hurts so much I was supposed to have it operated on in December but due to a 5 day stay in the Hospital over Christmas my surgery will be this week on February 25th. So with that being said I hope by the end of May to Be able to get out and use my fantastic gear. In the meantime I learn a lot from your work. Today I did notice the Eagles are back at the nest at the I 95 and Matanzas Woods exit it's in a good spot because of the elevation from the bridge. If your in the area exit the North bound exit here in Palm Coast. There is another nest in a preserve just off of Matanzas a little east of the freeway. I'm going to check it out tomorrow and also try a couple shots. I won't post them unless there good.
Totally amazing. I get fired up to go chase some birds every time I watch your videos.
Brilliant to see 👍 I live in the UK and owls are very sparsely populated. They are a difficult species to locate let alone get a good shot. We were very fortunate to have had a pair of short eared owls turned up 2 miles away a month ago.The UK has a strict lockdown restriction on travel due to the pandemic meaning we can only exercise in the local area at the moment. Local country walks away from people are OK. With camera in hand and after searching / standing for four or more hours we bagged a handful of pictures. Your films are inspiration, keep up the great work.
As always Mark, great video.
You got beautiful clicks of these amazing Creatures.
I enjoy tremendously your photos and commentary! Very enjoyable experience, worth watching anytime!
Oh thank you so much! I just love snowy owls. The one sitting on beach looks like a female. Females have more black markings than males. 💜🦉💜🦉
Great video Mark! Great storytelling as always, and fantastic shots. My favorite moment is by far the shortie on the tiny stick, so many goofy and adorable pics in that batch. Had the chance to observe my first shortie in december and now all I do is wake up early to see owls. I live in QC Canada and these guys are pretty uncommon so I feel blessed to have found a few over the months. breathtaking to see these guys flying in the fields.
Great work Mark, stunning series of the SEO - especially perched on that twig!
I really enjoy watching your videos Mark! I view many other photographers Vids but, I enjoy your presentation the most. Love seeing Owls my favorite bird of prey. Saw a Snowy Owl 2 days ago here in the swamps of Alabama, New York...Awesome sight!
Glad you came to NEw York Mark that’s really cool! Awesome video .... I shoot at the exact place you went to for the shortys and I agree with you, the snowys are spectacular and a must have image of! but they can be a little “ dull” during the day (especially when they don’t cooperate and show off their beautiful yellow eyes 👀) but you seemed to have done pretty well for yourself👍🏻....& that’s why shortys are great owls 🦉 to shoot because they give us some chance of seeing them in the dusk light, hunting.....!
Fantastic images and you put them together so well in this video. Always a great day when you upload! Cheers!
Another excellent video from Mark. Always enjoyed watching your videos. Well done!
Mark, what a fantastic video...absolutely grand! I just love owls and you capture their essence with your photography. Can't wait for the Osprey video and keep up the great work!
Mark, beautiful pictures and great story telling as usual. Cheers
Once again, Mark, Excellent! We have seen both the Snowy Owls and Short Eared Owls here in Ohio this year, but the short eared owls are our favorite! Something about the way those eyes look at you.....
Awesome Short Earned Owl photography!
Thanks for another spectacular video! No one does this better than you!
Well worth the wait. I loved this one Mark, especially the short eared owls in flight.
Sure looked a lot warmer than where I was photographing Snowy Owls today. You caught some amazing action with the Short Eared Owls and that hawk. Great photos!
Beautiful shots, Mark, as always. Worth freezing for! I have Tawny Owls around me but I only hear them at night, establishing territory.
These are gorgeous images. So inspiring
Great videoa and amazing pictures
Those colors!!!!
