I did this particular course with Mark and I would say without hesitation, it was one of the best workshops ever. Great reminder of the time I spent with you a few years ago at this amazing place. Some of my best Spoonbill images for sure. I have had the A1 for a few days. I would describe it as "sticky." It seems to stick to the birds like nothing I have ever shot with before which is fantastic. Getting used to the new menu system is challenging, but early days with the camera is impressive. Nesting time in Florida is great. The birds are so predictable flying back and forth gathering and delivering their nesting material.
Mark, you are the Bob Ross of photography. So calming to watch.

Mark, I think that I have watched most of your videos and have appreciated your great help. It has been so good to have a fellow bird photog guiding me along while I take the same journey in switching to SONY. This time I used your A9 set-up vid as a guide for the A1 setup. I hope that you could do an A1 set-up for bird photography AND video. I am about to go to High Island Texas for a hopeful bird fallout next week. I will be using the A1, with the 200-600.
A few salty viewers gave the video a thumbs down. They must live miserable lives, finding such uplifting images and footage worth a thumbs down.

@@MarkSmithphotography I may refine my thoughts. A few salty Nikon or Canon users who flagship cameras cannot deliver the quality Mark achieved with the A1 and the 200-600mm lens.
They're the people who can't afford an alpha 1.
Probably not enough charts and graphs and ovens for them.

Incredible photography as always Mark. These videos work perfectly well for people who have no interest in cameras as well, which is a testament to how good they are. I still think that the location/weather/your skill is 95% of the shots, but your point about high frame rate and composition is well made.

I've been following your channel ever since I bought my a9 with 200-600. Your method of story telling has evolved and is now so smooth and captivating. Great job! I like the way you don't particularly push the A1 throughout the video. I'd have liked to see the EXIF for more of your amazing shots, though, and also more info about the video settings you used for the capturing the videos.
Thanks. I only overlay the metadata on the first shot in a series. Every shot after would be the same. I’m not sure how to get the meta data from the video.

What an awesome combination excellent skill and from what I've just seen one of the most amazing cameras. The details captured and not just one lucky shot but straight one after the other a whole string and series of them! well done man! Another great video - superb images and video. I bought a Sony a9 as a lightweight backup to my Canon gear a couple of years ago. I struggled with results until watching your excellent video on setup for the camera. Totally revolutionised what I can do - to such an extent that my Canon gear has just left for a trade in to expand my Sony collection. I shall wait for your next video but seriously considering an a1. I'd be interested to see how these sharp images compare with the Sony 600mm prime. Thank you again - very educational.

Mark, Another lovely video with the spectacular coloring of the Spoonbills. A couple of your shots of them coming straight in with he blue background are frame-able! I'm hoping my A1 arrives soon and looking forward to your review of the rig you used, i can already see from your shots that it will be quite positive.

I learn a lot from your videos how I can improve my photography. I have been a couple more times and the action has been very good. Top tier as always! Colors here in IL are hard to come by until we get into the midst of summer where at that point most of the birds are either gone or hiding out, lol. Loving my A1 so far.

Oh my ! - those spoonbills are indeed fabulous, even though I didn't know they could be so gloriously coloured !! I'm loving your photography, Mark: I am a fan of birds, having come to them late in life, and your shots show me birds I will never get to see with my own eyes .. so I thank you sincerely ! The shag swallowing the fish with the loooong sharp 'beak' was a sight to behold. :) Never thought s/he'd do it.
Well great first use video certainly looked like you had a lot of fun with it ! The video is amazing quality of course, looking forward to the next it is better obviously with the 600 f4 !
You know it but the 200-600 has the quick throw for zoom in video.

I have already ordered the sony 200-600 and I'm planning to buy the A1 also (depending on your comments). I have the a7RIV at the moment and use the settings you proposed in one of your videos.
