Hello Mark, Thank you so much for some amazing images and video, plus you'r superb commentary and audio description that take this video the a hole new level. Great work. Keep well, keep safe and enjoy your work.
great film + amazing photographer
Like your style... and wow what a video that was. Don't remember what I was searching for that bought me to this specific video but again wow. And yes I am sharing the video.
My favorite part, all of it! Beautiful work and story telling. Nice to see Nikon back in the game. I know you've had a checkered past with the Nikon 500PF but even though I no longer (for the moment) shoot Nikon, I'm always interested to listen to what professionals like yourself have to say about the tools they use. Keep up the amazing work.
Greetings from South Africa....I usually catch your video within a day or posting, but Lens.Traveller, my wife and I ( aka: GONONDO) have been have been away in the Kgalagadi Desert in the Norther Cape.... I heard that they had received unusually heavy rain, so we snuck down there for a week to check things out... It's amazing what somne rain will do to a desert, which was totally transformed into what resembled a Savannah Grassland. The animals were all fat, sleek and gorgeous. We had two cheetah strikes...One where the coalition of 4 brothers took down a Springbok (Medium size anintelope) after a short, high-speed chase, and a few days later, they tried to take out another unsuspecting Springbok, but after a short, hard chase, in 38C heat, theynarrowly missed! I think that antelope is still running now, and it's heart-rate is still way up! The raptor population appeared in good numbers, was also healthy, feasting on a large population of resident rodents, and we even documented a few snakes being attacked, and consumed by a few Pale-chanting Goshawks, and Southern Pale-chanting Goshawks who are masters of the trade, similar to your Osprey popualtion, which was really special etc. Watching your great video now, I think you would have an absolute ball in sub-Saharan Africa, and hope you get some decent action when you do your trip to Africa later this year. Take care, and be safe out there... Best regards Tim
Outstanding footage! Love watching your videos, Mark. It's inspiring.
Excellent Video, and Amazing Photography Mark. Wow! The Pelican and Osprey Battle Was Incredible! Thank You.
Mark, your photography and story telling are outstanding. That osprey photo at the waters surface is spectacular.
Wow! Fantastic images. Thank you for sharing. Appreciate your examples and feedback on the Z9.
Another great video of yours. I love your videos, narrations, your jokes and how real it feels when watching your videos. You give me the reason to get up in cold winter morning and watch these awesome diving birds, so thank you!
Thanks! Glad you enjoy them.
Another awesome job video and photography and the narration too!! Thanks we look forward to all your videos 😊
Many of those images are simply stunning. Thanks for the video!
Im blown away by the images in this video. Great narration also. As a hobbyist on a budget I can't yet justify the cost of a z9 and 500pf lens so I need to live vicariously through videos such as this. I greatly appreciate the time and effort that you put into your craft/art.
Absolutely an amazing photo/video collection.
HOLY FRIGGIN AWESOME -- yes good gear - but GREAT reflexes on the tracking - those birds are moving super fast !!! Love the story line.
So awesome. I’m sharing this video with my Grand-Nephew who is 8 and loves wildlife. Thanks for making this video. I enjoyed every minute of this.
Thanks
COme on this was insane, love it thank you
All I can say is WOW. And, yeah, thanks!
Crisp and sharp well done excellent production
I love all your videos and eagerly look for each one to appear - but in the run of excellence there are still some videos that stand out as superb. This one is one of those. Great footage, vintage Mark Smith storytelling and the stars of the show, the Osprey. Just brilliant!
Thank you
Wow, I was totally amazed right through to the end. I will watch it again and share.
Great video Mark. Always enjoy your story telling abilities
You & Steve Perry taught me Wildlife Photography. It's a joy to witness the teacher in action. would love to meet you in person someday.
Thanks Mark. Some amazing images and footage there!
Well the things I like best about your video today Mark was well all of it! Thanks so much for sharing.
2:17 I so love that image.
What can I say Mark, you've done it again, absolutely stunning pics and video!!
So unbelievably impressive! 📸
Beautiful, you do great. Thank you for your efforts.
Great work. Ospreys are amazing but your videos really show the aggressive nature of pelicans. I had no clue they were such predatory birds.
That was one of the best Z9/Nikon/wildlife videos I've ever seen. Thanks!! Subscribed!!!
Great bird photography as always Mark! That Pelican attacking that Osprey was amazing. Will be sending this video to a few friends for sure! 👍👍😉😉🦅🦅

Spectacular footage, those skimmers are quite the site especially in the rougher water.👍
Mark, of all the video’s I watched from your channel, this is absolutely one of the best! Totally impressed with your compositions, the quality of the Z9 photos and videos, and your ability to tell the story. My Z9 is finally on the way, and, although I aspire to grow to your level, I’ll join the ranks of Z9 pros. Thanks again for all you do, welcome back to Nikon (fan boy here), and looking forward to more of your work! -Bud
Thanks for watching and enjoy your z9!

Your talent is without peer, Mark. Can’t believe I didn’t see the Big Question in the comments. YOU CANT ONLY HAVE ONE, Z9, or A1 ???
I prefer the a1.
Wow wow wow! I watched this on a 32” monitor and wow! Great stuff
Mark I do remember your images ever looking this good in the past. Yes you’ve captured amazing video and stills with other systems but this just seems like a step above.thanks!
I really don't know what it is, but every time I've watched Z9 footage, I realized that it just looks incredible dreamy, cinematic with outstanding quality. I guess it's all about the rendering and color science. But need to say that whatever Nikon is doing it just looks amazing.
Amazing videos and images. Your photography never ceases to amaze me! I wish that I lived near an area to get more practice!
Amazing Mark . Fantastic video and stills. 🙏🙏👍👍
Awesome video! Love that shot of the sharp eyes of pelican, osprey and fish 🔥
Great as always Mark.
Amazing video. I think the Z9 is just the start of the Nikon mirrorless march.
I really need to go after these Osprey the next time I go home in the season (from Vero originally). I haven’t been to the Inlet in ages!
Your best photos yet!
Thanks
Great images Mark
Finally, you posted bro, I was patiently waiting and waiting for this video lol. Very nice, see you soon..
IQ and Colors are Phenomenal ❤️🙌🏼... Thanks for the video 👍🏼
Thanks again Mark, great work! I had my doubts about the z9 but mine is working better than expected , Af falls apart sometimes against heavy trees but its pretty fast and sticky most of the time, bird behavior is amazing to witness, thanks again for sharing, also congradulations on your love life, I'm happy for you...
I’ve noticed the same thing and thanks for the kind words. I appreciate it.
Great work and results, Mark!
Great work! Thanks for sharing it!
Outstanding work as usual Mark, guessing you’re enjoying the Z9 👏👍😀
Wow - just wow. This is Incredible footage regardless of what brand you use or if you’re a photographer - if you’re in to wildlife then this worth watching for the experience alone
Amazing shots! Congrats!
That was one heck of a video. The last sequence was unbelievable. Looking forward to seeing the video on not so Sharpe images and the reasons why. Still waiting for my Z9. Three months or so and our Osprey and Eagles will be back. Right now it's snow everywhere and around -20.
Hi Mark, excellent video as always.
Love your stuff. I always share it on social media, everywhere. Cheers
Another great video, Mark! Not only are the stills and video superb, but your narration tells a great story. I've had a Z9 for a few weeks now, and while I don't live in an area where I can shoot ospreys like you have there, I have been getting lots of waterfowl, eagles, and hawks in flight. I'm impressed with the Z9's autofocus, but I have had it not perform to my expectations on a couple of occasions. Yesterday I was watching a young bald eagle on a frozen pond eating something while two crows were following it around looking for scraps. The eagle was probably 150+ yards away, and the light was pretty flat. There was something about the color variation on the ice, the distance, and the light that wouldn't allow my Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6 to lock focus. I took many shots, very few of which were sharp. All that being said, I am really enjoying my Z9. This is an upgrade from my D500, which I will hold on to as a second/backup. I have a question as well: are your video shots hand-held, or are you using a gimbal head on a tripod? I love shooting ospreys, and there is a nesting platform within minutes of my home, and I observe/shoot them there as well as in the nearby waters. I spent all last summer trying to get shots of them hitting the water, but they were always just out of range for good shots. I'm envious of your locale. I may have to pony up and attend one of your osprey workshops. Thanks again!
Magic of photography and your skills!
