I bought an abandoned Lamborghini Murcielago from an ex track experience company and spent over a year rebuilding the full car including the engine with my dad. Now its finally finished i wanted to test the car to its full potential by driving through europe to some of the best destinations known to petrolheads. But the Police thought otherwise.

The montage of him starting out and talking about one day driving a Lamborghini then showing him driving his dream Lamborghini was inspirational. It brought a tear to my eye to see him achieve his dreams through his hard work. Keep it up man, from one gearhead to another.

Some of the editing choices were kind of weird, though. The first police interaction for example wasn't with German police, but with the Gendarmerie (French police). Which means it happened even before the Nürnburgring and not on the way to Munich.

Absolutely awesome video. Top Gear has never got anywhere near this , with all their manufactured scenarios. Wonderful what you did for your dad. Just when I thought your video's couldn't get any better.
Just finished this episode and the ending brought tears to my eyes. Having planned a very similar trip with my father 8 yrs ago I lost him to stage 4 caner weeks before we was due to leave. It was 6 days from diagnosis to death so we didn’t even have time to go on our trip. I was devastated and I was in no fit state to drive and I never ended up going on the trip and still haven’t to this day attempted it again. So seeing this video really really pull on the heart strings. Such a moment between you and your father and not only that a trip you all will never forget.

For filling the hard to reach oiltank, you can switch the cap from your engine oil bottle for a cap from a bottle of ATF with the extendable straw. I switched all the caps for the fluids I have with me in my 1987 Defender, never have to mess around with a funnel any more. Might work for you too.
Who would’ve thought all this rebuilding of supercars and hypercars back in the 2000’s would’ve happened? Like the way the car world has shifted from just buying max driving them to actually working on them ourselves and owning them because you fixed it yourself is absolutely beautiful to me. Hopefully the electric age doesn’t hinder this self resilience in so many of us!

An absolutely fantastic video, I felt for poor Chris who had his car break, get damaged and hit with a fine for doing nothing. Fair play to you Mat for saying you’ll pay Chris’s fine. What a wonderful gesture to your dad, you could see how touched he was with the Rolex (and didn’t he look dapper in his dinner jacket and bow tie). The Merci looks amazing, the colour is how it should be and considering the amount of miles you’ve just done, the speeds you traveled at it held up fantastically. The oil leak is an easy fix once you get the rocker cover off. So all an all what a trip with the icing on the cake of winning at the casino. Love the mountain drives. We used to tour Europe each autumn and often stayed in Switzerland, about ten mile north of Como. I remember sitting in the motorhome one night listening the high pitched whines of two cars. Went over to look when they arrived. Two Swiss chaps. One in a Quattroporte (very nice), the second in an Enzo. Don't often see those on the road! Post coffee they drove off up the mountain roads. A noise which I'll always remember.
