I rebuilt an abandoned Lamborghini Murcielago that had lot's of issues. After a year of rebuilding it Richard Hammond inspects my work and gives his strong opinion.

what a humble guy that Hammond is! If I were Mat, I would be so anxious and nervous about "what if he is bored" "what if he is getting tired of all this rebuild car talk" but Hammond was genuinly interested and happy to be chatting, miss old Top Gear days!
So miss them!

Hammond is very eloquent almost sounds like he's reading a script.
I saw him in Zurich airport shouting "don't you know who I am?" at airport security. Yeah, he's real humble.

I'm sure that Mat, like me, grew up watching Hammond playing with fancy cars on the TV. So cool to see Hammond visiting with the community that he helped to grow. Makes me smile watching this. Good on Hammond for visiting and Mat for carrying on the tradition with a new generation.
Mat, you've got fame, followers, meet with people like Hammond and Nico, drive amazing cars and you've not changed one bit. I love it. You've earned everything you have.

Anytime we’ve seen any of the trio outside of TG it’s just so clear it came so naturally to them; just down-to-earth, humble and authentic despite their stratospheric success. You almost get the feeling they still don’t fully understand the impact they had on a generation and an industry…how lucky we all were to grow up with them! It must’ve been surreal for you Mat, hope you two get together more!
Hammond seems like such a nice guy, so down to earth it's unreal.
Someone tell the cameraman it's OK to take a step back and film from a couple of foot away sometimes. Getting dizzy from the bloody thing swinging left to right every 3 seconds.
11:30 if you pause immediately… You’ll see the most beautiful sight of a fathers delight to see his son where he is. That’s enough to about make me tear up. I lost my dad on February ,14 2009 … I’d give a lot to have him see his grandkids he never got too meet. Or be there for my wedding. Certainly not a sob story everybody. This is just a sight that not everyone gets as well. Tony is a great man. He’s done fantastic raising Matt. And their bond is un breakable. God you’re blessed man. I just wanted to point it out but it brought me somewhere at the same time in my mind It’s why we enjoy these sort of videos. But idk if Matt or anyone else noticed because the camera turns so quickly, you can’t see it. But that’s a powerful thing to see. You can almost see the gleem in his eyes. God bless you guys. 🙏 Thank again.
It’s these special moments where you see there is no script where you appreciate Hammond and how he is so good with words and why he was so essential to top gear with may and the ape. He truly is that guy. Just solid off the top.

Matt such a humble and talented guy. You can tell he has genuine affection and admiration for Hammond and vice versa. I love the banter and chemistry between them both. Some new format on KZhead doing a rebuild together from sourcing to finishing the car would be a delight to watch. Also, how Hammond humor never gets old, and he definitely still got that charisma from TG and British whit which made him who he is today! Great watch and look forward to the possibility of future ventures.

I love that the realistic side of owning a car comes out here. This is so good and truthful. I love the build and love the honesty. The imperfections makes perfection in my mind. My rs5 is great but she creaks until you pin it and then, you just forget about the quarrels and enjoy the fun! Thanks Matt!

True, all three of the old Top Gear trio are more intelligent than they behaved on the show (which I suppose isn't much of a surprise based on some of the stuff they got up to!).

When changing those throttlebodies in a volvo when they break, you need to program them into the ecu. Might be the same issue for you, thinking about the coldstarting.
Was going to say the same , that hunting is the ECU relearning the throttles.

The information about parts, their actual price, in which car they have been used is just amazing. Now I believe, it is the brand name which makes things expensive. Mat's channel is a learning platform for me.
I'm glad to see that you made it so far. It's really funny to see you with Hammond an others having a little fun. 😂To have a Garage an rebuilding cars is also my next wish, but this could take some years. First i need to expand my heating company further, and then the next step.

The neat thing about this car is, Mat knows every part of it, had it restored his way and with his father's hands-on help. Along with that, some friends and other's good advice was achieved. Much to learn and enjoy behind this project. It's definitely not a Kit car! (Cool Video, Hats Off)

My old Rover 220GTi use to do that rev hunting and was worse when cold. It was a caused by a combination of the throttle body and the ECU, got a new set from a breakers that solved the issue. I forget if you fitted new throttle bodies or used ones as it was a while back. If they were used did you give them a service before fitting? ensure there is no air leak on the intake flaps, one of my old MG ZS's flap would do random things on the throttle due to the flap. After a good clean and lubrication it was sorted.
