Fun fact about radioactivity: Whilst it will eventually result in death, there are pictures of animals that had become mutated due to the radioactivity caused by the Chernobyl disaster. A 6 legged dear was photographed I believe too.
And if the radiation doesn’t make the animal infertile they can pass the mutated genes to their offspring (ofc if the animal lives long enough to reproduce)

This can be caused even without radiation, think Siamese twins, two headed snakes, cancer, etc. basically radiation causes an animals DNA to get all messed up, and cause things that wouldn’t generally occur. So, normally your DNA says, make two arms, but, I’d your DNA gets corrupted, it may say to produce three arms, or more. If this is something your interested in, I definitely recommend going over to google and looking up genetic mutations, and radiation caused mutations. Neat stuff!

I'm so mad this wasn't brought up: Following the mothman sightings, a large snowy owl was found in the region. It was shot and killed, immediately ending the sightings. That's it. Mothman was an owl. Things like it's size and speed were likely exaggerated by people who were panicking in the dark, and not thinking clearly. Some sightings were certainly hoaxes for attention, others were mistaken. But we do know what mothman was.
im super curious about this!! had a look online and i could only find people talking about the snowy owl but didn't find anything about them shooting it :/ do you remember where you read/heard about it? (not in a rude way btw!! just enjoy learning about these things)
Also annoys me that they dismissed the idea of the crane (an actual living thing that has been proven to exist) as being in West Virginia despite their being sightings of it because those aren't 'officially' in that state, but apparently believe the sightings of an anthropomorphic Moth creature (something that has not been proven to exist). Like fair, it probably wasn't a crane and it might not make sense for that specific bird to be in that region but it literally makes no sense to think it's less believable that an actual documented animal was responsible for the sightings than it is to belive an interdimensional Moth creature was. Either way it was likely a large bird, and the fact they skimmed over the logical things it could have been does make me mad. Like it's just a show for entertainment and maybe it was cut for time but this video makes it seem like the only thing it could have been was mothman when there are 100% logical explanations that explain what it likely was.
It's also really interesting that this took place in the 60's and the boys keep bringing up weed. Like, my guys, the 60's were the peak time for hallucinogenic drugs to be mainstream. The likelihood that these people dropped acid, one of them saw a big bird and started tripping, and the others fell to the power of suggestion is MUCH more plausible than a cryptid.

I don't mind the mothman not existing, the creepypasta horror urban legend vibe that it gives off is fun and lively enough for me to want to go to that town and support the local businesses. It's like watching a horror movie, you know it's not real but you still watch it cause it's fun. Same with the Mothman. The whole thing is unlikely to be real but the entertainment factor is well worth the visit

What if Mothman is a owl beast-humanoid? Afterall, Mothman doesn't appear to show a visible neck and their eyes glow/reflect red in the dark. As well, owls are known for silently gliding/flying; could explain why they're so silent yet makes high-pitched vocal noises.
Running theory is that the original sighting of the mothman was a misidentified owl
Moth or owl, a human sized cryptid would not be able to fly (would need a wingspan of 20 ft minimum and the wings would be too big to function at that size). I think they saw a chunky owl and got freaked out.

I believe the original name given to the creature called Mothman was the Point Pleasant Bird Monster which is why the description should be more bird like. But yeah the description of Mothman finding it in the night sounds like someone saw an owl. Owl eyes, like the barn owl, glow red when you shine light in them. They also can also be larger than you think and are in the area.
And people could have mistaken the size of Mothman. Sometimes when you’re panicked the things look way bigger than you think.
Owl or a large crane. The best theory by scientists was crane and they were seen in Chicago around that time, I do believe.
Random Fact: During The 1986 Chernobyl Disaster before the Disaster there was Sightings about a Winged Creature With Red Eyes Going Around The Plant and After The Reactor Exploded FireFighters Saw The Winged Red Eyed Creature Circling The Plant With its Remarkable Similarity to the Point Pleasant Mothman Sightings.

seeing how confident Ryan is at the beginning of the video , acting like he'd actually go head to head with the moth man but knowing what's going to happen is a very fun comparison
Those cookies are actually quite tasty. They also have good breakfast burritos lol. If anyone is thinking of visiting the town, avoid the festival dates (this past weekend was the most recent). I had a buddy go during the festival and he said it was so crowded and chaotic and he'd not being going to another one. When I went, it was literally a random Tuesday in July. The town was quiet, we ate at the Coffee Grinder, saw the museum and the statue. We even visited the (very) small state park on the edge of town. We were able to take our time and really enjoy a lazy afternoon.

I swear to god, this is still one of the most adorable bro dates they've ever been on.
I stopped by Point Pleasant and went to the Coffee Grinder and the Mothman Museum. The coffee shop was very nice. I had an iced marshmallow coffee which was heavenly. And a Big Mothman Cookie, which was very sweet and reminded me of a sugar cookie. The Mothman Museum was very cool and the guy working there was awesome to chat to. The Mothman statue, however, was much smaller than I thought it would be . It would be Ryan's height if it was on the ground thats how small it was 😂 But apparently the sculptor has made a ton of cool statues around the town. High recommend if people are driving by to stop and spend an hour or so there
