  • This is a bit sad because the catacombs in Paris were built in I think the 1700s because the cemeteries were getting too full and it was affecting the water supply. So the city built an underground tunnel system. The bones were used to support the walls and the workers made some very beautiful art using the bones. There is poetry written on the walls as you walk through. It is an incredibly respectful way to honor these people who have not been named. This place is not haunted, it's not scary, it is just peaceful and a place of respect.

  • it's a known fact that when the underground was being built they kept having to change routes due to hitting plague pits. There's even one part of the underground where a pit is literally the other side of the tunnel wall.

    • I feel like people don’t understand how many of these there are around the world. Everywhere that the plague took place probably has these pits. Paris has its own massive system of catacombs. Even Washington Square Park in NYC has a ton of bodies from the Revolutionary War buried under it.

  • We all praise Shane for his absolute lack of fear in ghosts but for me, Ryan is the braver one. Shane is a hardcore skeptic. Ryan still does everything Shane does even after being terrified of ghosts. I will never do that if I were in his position.

    • @@moomoodefloof I'm well aware of Hart Island. Those graves were needed because funeral homes and crematoriums were too overwhelmed to help families because of Covid. Most of the people buried have families that cared for them, and have been claimed.. unfortunately most of them were indigent. I work for a funeral home in Chicago, I worked thru the Pandemic. We're still dealing with it, and our numbers are on the rise again because of Covid-D19.

    • @@moomoodefloof Also these were unmarked graves, not a mass grave. These children had their dignity and life taken from them. Over a 90 year span kids we're killed, tortured and raped. Then they were buried, then erased by the catholic churches in Canada. This is not the same as a Pandemic mass temp gravesite.
