Dan Hardy is an English former mixed martial artist who fought in the welterweight division. He signed a contract with the UFC in 2008 and was known as “The Outlaw.” In 2010, he fought Georges St-Pierre for the UFC Welterweight Championship but lost via decision. Later in his career, he moved into commentary before a dispute with the UFC resulted in their parting ways. Hardy now commentates on MMA for his own KZhead channel, Full Reptile: / @danhardyfr

    • The UFC weren't in the wrong, Dan was. He's a smart guy, but he was in the wrong when he harassed a female colleague and tried to change the outcome of a fight because he didn't like the way the referee was acting.

    • Give this one a miss then…people advocating Ayahuasca are really deluded and in seeking quick fixes don’t understand that mental health wards are full of people with psychosis from using psychedelic drugs. There are sane ways to develop a clear mind and psychedelics are definitely not the way.

Also wouldn't call something you have to fly round the world a "quick fix" You call others deluded but ignore the evidence the other side has. Yes, it being illegal means some people will use it incorrectly or fudge dosages but that's on individuals not the substance.

  • Absolutely loved Dans comments at the end. Really nice to see him being that thoughtful and decent and also to see a fighter/former fighter holding those kinds of views. There are a lot of ultra individualists in fighting and a lot of very right wing views. It was a lovely antidote seeing Dan talk about the NHS! He came across as a thoughtful guy throughout this interview. Thanks for this!

  • This is a blast from the past. The last time I saw Dan hardy was when I bought my first ever UFC PPV, when he fought. GSP. I remember thinking he represented the UK to the fullest, and gave an excellent performance against the best grappler at the time. I remember how many times GSP bent his limbs into shapes they shouldn't go, and he wouldn't tap. Its cool to see hes such a well rounded person as well.

    • @@jesperburns I believe it's more about GSP's nature as a person. He wants to win, not hurt people. A guy like Frank Mir would snap an arm without much thought about it, GSP would probably spend years regretting it. I think Georges took it easy on Koscheck in their second fight in the later rounds as well. That broken orbital bone left Josh in a position to be punished with limited hope to defend it outside a lucky counter, and I believe Georges couldn't bring himself to do it.

  • His comment on the reason for fighting causing that silence. That's what motocross is for me. When I'm riding so many things change. My brain shuts up. I'm solely focused on only what's in front of me. And if I'm in a race my competitive side comes out and it's even more exhilarating. Because in that time my need to compete combined with the focus it takes makes for a serenity I just can't get doing anything else. But from the outside looking in it's chaos. 20 dirtbikes all trying to occupy the same space. The consequences being possible broken bones.
