  • Boxing is a sub-discipline of MMA, just as wrestling, BJJ or kickboxing is. All the other athletes are absolute specialists in their disciplines and there they are also very likely superior to a pure MMA athlete. The MMA athlete is the generalist. But the MMA athlete has greater versatility and can fight on other levels where the specialist has no skills at all. That is why I consider the MMA athlete to be superior in general. The rest is marketing

There's more focus on consistency... however the biggest nights in boxing always feel more special than any UFC card. UFC can stack a card with 5 great fights and a boxing card can just be one big fight and feel more special.

    @ymb9shinzou743@ymb9shinzou7436 ай бұрын

  • MMA has exploded in the 21st century as Dan Hardy said. Boxing is very fun but only WHEN and IF the big fights happen because of the annoying promoters and boxers trying to protect their undefeated record. In MMA we don't really care about the record (Nate Diaz 22-13 record but he is a massive superstar and fan favorite, Charles Oliveira 34-9 same as Nate) we care about good scraps and exciting moments either in the mic or during the fight. Yes the wrestling can be boring sometimes but that's because we don't really understand what they are doing or don't appreciate it but the same can be said for boxing when the fighters just clinch every 5 seconds. Press conferences in MMA are way more exciting than boxing's and the production of MMA (specifically the UFC) is unmatched in comparison to any boxing's promotion. If boxing brings back the good old era where the best fought the best then I feel like it has the chances to surpass the MMA as a combat sport but until that happens MMA is the king of combat sports.

  • MMA is far superior to boxing. Boxing is a punching competition, whereas MMA is an actual fight. Boxing is a shambles. The best very rarely fight each other. In all MMA organisations, the best always fight the best. Boxing is prize fighting. MMA is fighting to find who the best is.

  • Boxings only big because of the legacy the older fighters left behind and how the sport used to be. Been a sham the last 20 years, look at showtime leaving the sport, it’s not a surprise ratings are dropping off.

    • Showtime is leaving all sports which means they're dropping Bellator too, and boxing got better ratings on Showtime than Bellator btw. Just like Top Rank gets better ratings than the UFC on ESPN and PBC on Fox gets the highest ratings of any combat sports promotion.

  • I was reared on boxing and have been completely ignorant to MMA, apart from McGregor. And I think I put that down to the amount of time spent on the floor. It is only now I appreciate the skill required and the subtle techniques that can look to an untrained eye like headlocks and panting.

    • Muay Thai is becoming much more popular ever since one championship became a thing, now that one championship offers bonus’ and pays higher, fighters can put on better performances and more exciting fights because they fight LESS for more money! Also, they’ve gotten rid of most of the original historic rituals of Muay Thai, they rarely do the Wai Key’s anymore and don’t do the slow starts because they’re now trying to entertain

  • A lot of mma fans dont realize how exciting the boxing matches from the 50s to the 90s were. Not their fault at all since the current era that theyre exposed to now is so luckluster in comparison. I am saying this as an mma fan first. Old school boxing had some of the best scraps in the history of fighting imho
