Fascism is misused as much, it is not just about any oppression but GOVERNMENT oppression of the people without concerns for what they want. eg. Like passing a law against purple flowers just because you do not like them. Most people do not have that need. This is real example, Mill Creek (WA) has lots of fascist rules about illegal fonts, etc.

    • I disagree. This side of Jordan, here, is one I haven't seen much before. I think he sort of adapted to the context and probably couldn't resist turning down being on show with someone as well known as Maher. I have a hunch that Jordan Peterson is being complicit with the humour here for the sake of publicity. But if you look at his lectures, his KZhead videos, etc., he is a very serious person who thinks on a profoundly deep level and is very honest with himself in his analyses. He is intellectually honest, very wise, and a great thinker. He wrestles with the absurdities of of the political and educational and social landscapes better than anyone I've listened to.

      @vesnamirkovich@vesnamirkovich6 жыл бұрын
    • I agree with you on that. I'm not an idealist to think that perfect answers or paradigms exist to cure the world of all its ills. However, what has become apparent is that many people, especially Millennials and those who will follow, suffer from historical amnesia. Knowledge about things like the Holocaust, even, is fading from our consciousness, and people rising to political power today seem to be in a vacuum or bubble, failing to understand the import of the kind of legislation that is taking place (e.g., as Peterson points out -- compelled speech). If we lose a comprehensive understanding of what kinds of conditions and movements were the stepping stones to different kinds of police state in the past, we are liable to repeat history. This is one of the things Peterson has been working so hard to point out. People have become totally disconnected from history and are beginning to make decisions on completely emotional but not always rational bases. They protest and advocate for "social justice" issues but fail to realize the bigger picture. They try to solve social injustice in ways that will only hurt us in the end (e.g., criminalize speech, thought control, etc.).

It's frustrating dealing with that, and trying to raise your child to be responsible, and self sufficient. You feel like you're going against the grain, but you know you're in the right.

It is easy to approve the views of those who agree with us. It is mostly easy to love those who love us in return. Jesus taught us to love our enemies, something which He as Son of God was able to do, but which humans in their natural condition find incredibly difficult. JP is a normal, natural human being.
