  • Resolve for rear plate loosening, replace the 4 caphead screws on the motor drive cover plate with countersunk screws, this eliminates the need for that cnc’d recess pocket and removal or slackening of back panel to install/removal of motors.

    • That is a great shout Dave...too late now, but hopefully this helps other builders. Thanks and respect.

  • That tank Barrell restraint must be usable, at this scale it would be a no-brainer to make it work and fit

    • Hi Martin, I did think that myself, however it's not really....It does look the part.....But in order to use this as you suggest it would require a mod...like a pin that can be easily removed...I decided against exploring this as I really want to put this through its paces as I did with the tiger, so that turret is going to be swinging around as much as possible.

  • You might think about that weld on the top ring,somehow putting wax paper on the front half so that when you do the weld, that after it sits up, it will look attached, but not.

    • Thanks David...I am still mulling this over...I need to be able to remove the turret support ring and wanted to try and hide the gap by getting the weld close to the edge. I am going to see what it looks like when the turret is painted and installed, then decide. Thank you for your continued support.

  • Tony, nice video as usual. Two comments on the build. For the rear plate that has to be loosened for the motor install, I just took off the top screws and pulled on the back plate just enough to get the motors in without having to loosen the bottom screws which I thought might be impossible to tighten once the motors were in. Although one builder, Brian, said he could get to the two bottom screws but it just took a lot of time to tighten them in small incremental steps with a long Allen driver. One thing on the turret ring, where you are planning to put a weld around that large arc; remember that if you ever have to remove that assembly to get into the tank fully, you will destroy the weld. After having just finished totally assembling everything, I already have to disassemble everything to do a new upgrade in the tank, as that would get in the way. Just as FYI. It would certainly need to come out for any battery removal.

    • Hi Ray, Thanks for watching and commenting. The back plate was not an issue. Just thought I would reiterate what I stated very early on in the build to keep it loose. I didn't re-tighten the fixings under the motors, but managed to get a small amount of locktite on them to stop them working loose and dropping into the tank inner hull...I have silicon sealed the bottom edge and tighten up the top fixings and all good. The welding comment...Yep, realised that shortly after saying it Doh!! I am currently trying to work out a way that I can remove the entire top deck in two halves rather than the three...My thinking hat is firmly on as I do like to have free access to the workings as I currently have on the Tiger. I have seen your build on the Forum and it is mighty impressive. Brilliant job Ray. Have a great weekend.

  • Hi Tony, after some major issures with the alignment of the axles of the roadwheels that cost me weeks (my fault 😊) I am almost ready to install the electronics and awaiting the delivery from armortek. Went faster than expected in the first place 😊. Thanks again for your support, your videos are really great!

    • Hi Jonny, Sorry to hear that. It is horrible when you find a mistake that has a knock on effect to the build. Glad you resolved it. All part of the joys of this hobby :-) Dont forget that the tracks need to be tensioned tightly before you install the mudguards and run the motors. If you haven't done so already, I would leave the mudguards off until you have tested the motors and happy with the way the tracks are running. Carry out a full test run and re-tighten as necessary. Hope this helps.

    • @tonys_workshop In the end, I had to brutally drill out one of the 3 internal screws holding the torsion bar as the head of one screw was torn off while I tried to unscrew it 😀. But as you always say: All part of the fun building these things. Until now, I learned so much... Thanks for the hint regarding the track tensioning. After seeing your videos I also decided to mount the mudguards at a later stage 😀

  • Hi Tony. The M26 Pershing's drive motor is fixed after loosening the rear plate! It's a peculiar feature. As the weight increases more and more, the joy of completion and the hardships during the work after this go side by side. Thanks for sharing the video. My enjoyment of viewing and listening grows every time it approaches completion. Can't wait for next week.

Good morning and thank you again for such positive comments. Yes a unique way, but crucial to leave loose in the early stages as the motors simply will not fit in unless that plate is left loose. I will be moving on to the turret next and the detail and workmanship which Armortek have put into this is incredible. I hope you enjoy the next video as it really starts to take shape. Have a wonderful weekend.

  • Very nice work done I watched the tiger build very impressed with the bridge you built if I ever get to buy one these I have in mind to do it as the fury if I'm able get figures of the brad pitt cruse. Hope they sort the electrics issue for you.

    • Hi and thank you. 'Dragon' DID figures do produce the full crew from 'Fury' I would absolutely do the same...Loved that film. Yes Armortek are on the case. They were on their annual shutdown when the problems started to arise. Since their return they have identified the problem and in the process of replacing the faulty part for all the owners who are affected. My videos tend to be two weeks behind my build, but since this video was made it has been sorted or in the process of being sorted. Thank you also for watching and following, it is very much appreciated.

  • Hi Tony - a big thumbs up for more outstanding progress with your build. It's really looking the part now, and I think if it was mine I'd be resting the turret on it already, with the excuse of somewhere to store it... Most of my own delivery has arrived now, delayed by the Armortek summer break plus shipping and customs, but I've yet to make a start on unpacking everything and lining up the components. Until I started moving the boxes I hadn't fully appreciated how big everything is. I'm definitely going to follow your build sequence and I'm going for the full motorised model plus smoke etc. I'm hoping that a target finish by Christmas is achievable, but I can see that adding the detail takes extra time and care. I must add that seeing the way you're approaching things - and considering internal access options before it's too late - gives me the confidence that you'll have solved my problems before I get to them. Thanks! Looking forward to next week's episode already!

    • Hi Keith, I hope you enjoy unpacking...it is like Christmas all over again. Make sure you give your self enough space to un pack and check contents. I am so glad that my channel has given you the confidence to build this incredible model. Unlike the Tiger, I have tried to show as much as possible of the build on the M26, the good, the bad and the ugly. If you do get stuck on anything, please do not hesitate to give me a shout, I will always try and assist. Enjoy your build and thanks for watching and supporting.

  • Good work young man 👍, great idea 💡to caulk the hull watching the video one defo needs to invest in a set of handled Allen keys . Any news on the electronics ?

    @steve1315@steve13159 ай бұрын
    • Hi Steve and thank you. They are great tools and a real must for a build like this. Yes, all good with the electronics, Armortek have contacted all the builders out there who have been effected and will be replacing the faulty power module. I have just received my replacement (thank you Armortek) and will be running a test this weekend. I will video this and it will be up in a couple of weeks.

    @aarontaylor1484@aarontaylor14848 ай бұрын
    • Hi Aaron, apologies for not replying sooner...work gets in the way sometimes....don't panic...Yes, you can replace the the fixings and counter sink...then it should slide in. Alternatively, use a hot air gun (if you don't have one, use a hair dryer) to soften the thread locker and release the plate fixings. you will only need to loosen the top fixings a little and it will slot in. Hope this helps mate.
