GIANT TANK DESTROYER: FIRST DRIVE! FERDINAND ELEFANT ARMORTEK All Metal 1/6 Scale | RC ADVENTURES
240 LBS of ALL METAL! This is our "Tanks for Ten Years" MEGA BUILD, celebrating our show "RC ADVENTURES" being produced for the last decade on KZhead. The vehicle featured today is an "ARMORTEK" ELEFANT, modelled from a WW2 Ferdinand Elefant Tank Destroyer. This was a KIT that we have been building for the last 10 videos, and today we get to drive this machine for the first time. It is outfitted with dual "car batteries", in series at 24v. This tank is ALL ELECTRIC, direct drive running on Dual 24v motors, with a 16:1 gear reduction. My kit has the optional SMOKE generator, though I did not turn it on today. The sound kit is also installed, along with a "recoil kit" for the barrel.

I have not finished the weathering & paint on this tank.. though I will not be doing a "traditional" paint job replicating the German side of WW2. Instead, we are using this tank as a multi-purpose "Mad-Max" / Police Enforcement vehicle.. that can be used in many styles of video.
This build, in total.. is about $10,000 CAD / $6500 USD
A heavy price tag to entertain my friends, and our viewers - but what an absolute BLAST, and AMAZING WAY TO CELEBRATE! This series has been Fantastic, and a wonderful experience :)

Its a 1/6 scale so 88mm divoded by 6 would be 14.6 so a russian 14.5mm would be the correct calliber to use for scale also the real gun could penetrate 237mm of armor so at 1/6 that would be 39mm so a 14.5mm (PTRD anto tank rifle) would fir that as well
And that small machine gun shoots 1000 small pellets.

As someone who spent 24 1/2 years on tanks I can tell you to NEVER do a pivot stear on loose dirt or sand, especially with an unsupported track. You'll throw track for sure and tear up your suspension. Loved the ending. We used to drive over brush fires to put them out.

Why?
Because this German tank work with 3 engine (2 gasoline use as generator in front and 1 electric as transmission) and the electric engine is really not reliable and broke most of the time. À lot of tank where abandoned before they see any combat because of this shit
@@lagalilalligator8256 was actually a pretty ingenious design for its time, just too complicated/fragile for such a heavy vehicle. Most german (mid-late war)tanks had transmission issues due to inadequate transmissions for the weight/size/complexity of the vehicles. This inadequacy would lead to numerous breakdowns that were difficult if not impossible to repair without pulling the vehicle off the front to send it to a factory for repair.

The Porsche Ferdinand turned out to be a POS. Hitler had some MODS done to it and renamed it the elephant. Is that the 88mm gun or the 128mm gun.
