    • I am curious, but the site says 90,000 members, which I believe you took from your (at the time) KZhead subscribers. A bit misleading and false advertisement, for those who believe they will have members going through the course like themselves. I'd be more clear and honest with your potential customers on that point, but looks like a good course otherwise.

  • going from a third person template with only idle, run and jump animations to motion warping + 500 animations is really incredible, the lower the barrier to entry for Indies, the more chance of a breakthrough gem. If time is money and money is tight for indies then the time savings accrued is invaluable.

  • Though for anyone testing it out right no, just a heads up when you migrate older projects from 5.3 into it, animation graph references may be broken. Such as the time remaining or ratio of time remaining nodes that I often use to tell when a transition animation finishes... the nodes there, no errors, still lists the actual animation, but it wont be triggered or fire. So if you migrate over and things seem broken on animations or stuff, go and manually create new nodes for these and some other things and that should fix it. For the most part the only real issue I've noticed so far. They will hopefully have that fixed by the time it goes live for for early testers messing around in it now, especially given the animation focus of this one, this might save some people some time and frustration I figure.

    @terricon4@terricon4Ай бұрын

  • It took me a lot to clean some disk space for UE5.4 Preview and it's now installed. I'm blasted. I was scared as hell with my concern my rig would get killed but shading compiling was much faster indeed but most importantly didn't push my GPU to 100% longer than a few second to stay on an average 94% throughout the whole process. What a relief when the editor was running.... and there's so much I'm already loving... my concern about retargeting was blown away by the simplicity and the new features for UI interfaces design features almost overshadowed my hype for the "snow+footsteps on snow" feature and the painting on mesh features. I really hope things go s well as it seems leading to. I really hope all this will impact on my current creative difficulties giving me new enthusiasm I was quickly losing because of all the struggles. Specially my issues with creating my very own locomotion system, which is keeping me and my projects stuck going in circle with no improvements. I feel a mind blowing wind of change now, next step... installing that template and making my own experiments. PS: Thanks for illustrating all the new features... it pumped me up!!! Update: I've just got my very 1st editor's crash while opening the skeleton but the restart was so quick {not only it didn't recompile the shaders but rather took just a few seconds!} I feel like nothing bad happened. I dunno if I can take it as reassuring or as a first alarm... I guess I'll find that out soon when trying to do more complex stuff.

  • What I love is that they don’t just chunk out new features but focus as much on the tool / production pipeline. What is so great is that maybe in a few year unreal is a complete content creation package. Sure more specialized software will still exists who then can output data that unreal can import. But even so now soon most of that data can in simplified way not just be imported but also edited inside unreal. The iteration loops gets so much smoother which is not just about production speed but also about being closer and closer to affect and see the result directly. Also with more and more AI assisted tools this will allow innovation to take place much more. (And speed up where innovation is not needed or wanted )

  • Nice! The animation stuff is exciting. I might have to update my project. Ever since UE5 came out the IK retargeter has been a pain. I would have to either use a third party retargeter from the marketplace or use ue4 based animations, retarget in 4.27, then migrate. Sometimes sellers will provide preset IKs that could work with multiple models, but overall it’s a mess. I also love the motion warp system. It’ll make things easier in terms of locomotion. All those parkour and motion warping assets will become redundant.

Now if they can develop the modeling system more, and maybe start building a procedural texturing/texture paint system to eventually replace maya, zbrush, and substance, it'd be an insanely holistic system. Which seems like the direction they are delving into over time. Maybe that's what ue6 or 7 will end up being like.

This is great news for Indy devs who don't have $5K every year to drop on softwares. Full animation system = no more need for Maya, Full texturing system = no more need for Substance painter, Full modeling system = no more need for Zbrush, Full retargetting system = no more need for retargeting software/pluggings, Full biome PBR system = Rust 2 ( the game) can now be made in Unreal 🤣
