About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.
Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK to rural France and restoring this beautiful building to its former glory.

  • Dear Terry, this has to be one of my favourite vlogs, not only because it was so lovely to see but because you transformed a very difficult and stressful situation into a triumph. I am sure you were in panic mode when you realized the loss of all that footage but in the end you taught us all a lesson in courage and perseverance. You and your family are so endearing and that is why we love to follow you ❤️

  • I think you should schedule doing a walk about periodically. It is great to see the work your doing while your doing it, but it is also great to see how it is all coming together, a recap without the work. To appreciate it more. You all are doing such a great job. Missed having You and Tracy yucking it up while your “cracking in”. The two of you are obviously close and that just warms my heart to see a mother and son have such a great relationship.

  • Hi Terry, no need to apologize about the lost file because the walkabout was wonderful. All of your flowers are lovely, the gates are gorgeous and all of the different areas of the estate are beautiful. There are so many interesting buildings on the property so I’m sure in time you will renovate them also, but give yourselves a break and don’t rush into doing them. Everything in due course. I don’t recall how many acres of land you have, but it is lovely. xx

  • This was a great walk about grounds and really adds perspective to the location so thanks for that Terry. Lovely to see the skies so clear and blue. Canada is on fire at the moment and our skies across the country are filled with smoke. It's so sad that so much of the wilderness is being lost so it's great to see your sky and remember what ours was like before the crisis we are experiencing now. 🍁🍁🍁

    • 🥲Oooh so sad!! Hopefully things won't get worse in Canada...I live 2h away from Lalacelle, It is around 30° at the moment but we've had a few storms to cool things off so, so far so good when it comes to forest fires!

  • No need to keep the camera on yourself when you're doing a walking tour to give everyone a better understanding of the layout. Also, the close up shots on the gates and the flowers in the cart are absolutely beautiful however, they don't help with gaining a perspective on the area. I was really hoping to see the chateau as if I was walking in your shoes. Maybe next time, or maybe I should volunteer and see it for myself. :) I love watching your progress with the property's transformation. Keep up the great work and the good vibes, you're genuineness shines through.

  • Summertime = outside work. rooves, gutters, windows, doors and drainage (yard work of course). Winter time, or when it's too hot outside then inside work. Inside doesn't get a lot done in the Summer when you have such a large amount of property to maintain. It will be wonderful to have the volunteers and you have all made such a comfy spot for them to stay (for free).

You are such a hardworking family and what you've accomplished is amazing! I love that cart. When winter comes and you move the planter boxes I hope you use that time to pull the old cart inside and just slather on wood preservative all over it and paint a rust inhibitor on the metal parts. It would be lovely to see it still a part of the chateau landscape 50 years on.

I sympathise with the loss of your video recording, having lost computer files in the past! 🙄 The tour certainly showed the massive amount of work everyone has done so far. 💪🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I must admit I don’t envy Paula’s job painting all the gates! Plus there’s the wrought iron fencing as well! Although the sand blasting will help. However, once done they will really announce to the world that Chateau LaLacelle is back in business. Can’t wait to watch the new windows going in and thus the completion of the exterior on one side of the front facade. 👋🏻👋🏻🥰🥰

I remember when you were putting that first set in way back and how excited you were 😁 Looking fabulous. Yay for the hydrangeas as well. All the flowers make such a difference ❤️ Can't wait to see the Walled Garden get started. No pressure but that's the part I'm REEEALLY excited about!
