The Journey Back To The Chateau. Ep 25
Bonjour à tous.
As we did not post a video on Sunday due to being so busy with traveling from the UK and with the delays at the port, we have added a extra video this week to go with the live chat.
After a long drive back to Middlesbrough to collect the last bits of furniture and to collect ash, Terry and Ash dash back to France and show us some of the purchases they got for the beautiful bathrooms on the middle floor.
Terry also talks us through the future plans for the suites on the second floor and the names, plus takes ash out to the local charity shop to buy a wardrobe that has been on he's mind for a while, but will there get it? you will find out in Sundays chateau video.

We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.

Yous twos are such nice people, you remind me so much of how we were together, Michael and myself ... Michael was English, I am a Belgian ... we have been 44 years together form 1966 to 2010, the year where my lovely husband passed away. I can only wish you all the happiness in the world, as we had together here in Belgium ... We did not buy a château, but a great big house in Brussels. I still live there, no way that I will move out. All my memories of us as a couple are here, still very vivid, I am glad to say. Be happy and be good to each other

This video gave me such a kick. Terry was like a little boy at Christmas showing off all his toys. He was so excited and happy. I agree with the other comments, the love you both have for each other shines through, especially Ash. Always love seeing that. Instead of stained glass, have considered etched glass. Intricately etched glass was used extensively in the Titanic, they even found one that survived the sinking and is still in place on the wreck
I have a few old etched goblets...they were the bees knees back in time..

Ash, your sarcasm and dry humor just crack me up. One of the things I find so endearing about the relationship you and Terry share is that while both of you sling verbal arrows at the other (obviously in a loving manner), they are never countered with anger or negative rebuttal. Just with smiles and eyes that light up and fill the room. I wish you both a lifetime of love and laughter.

My aunt and uncle lived in an old house in Holland situated on dike. In there she had the most elaborately decorated toilet made out of blue delft that I had ever see. You weren't sure if you were supposed to use it!!

I can’t imagine how you got all those things up the stairs and through the doorways, but the fixtures are stunning and very high end. I always get such warm feelings watching the two of you together and look forward to a beautiful wedding. So lucky, I wish I were young and in love like the two of you and have so much support that didn’t exist when I was young. Hi guys glad to see your back into full swing, plans sound good but as always a lot of work.. just a suggestion, as you are not double glazing the windows, maybe you can get some thicker glass or glass with better thermal properties. I guess as you get each window remade you will be able to replace each Payne with a sealed unit as you can allow for the extra depth needed to accommodate a double glazed sealed unit.. have a good rest of the week, see you guys Sunday, Robb Torremolinos Spain 😊 ps. suggest you don't serve ice in the Titanic suite

If you do a titanic theme, you could have a huuuge saltwater acquarium..
For the bath/shower in the last bathroom - no curtain - glass doors to enter with floor drain - a big wet room. A suggestion only.
I have showered in a basement that was a huge shower with knobs n faucets all along two walls...bottles of champagne and steamy bath for 11, or so..
Great ideas--but don't forget about keeping shower water & curtains inside the tub, else the entire room will get wet!

Gents - I don't know what kind of artificial stained glass is available to you, but here in the US printed film looks quite cheap. So you might want to do a test run on a window first. Bravo on restoring the windows. You might need thermal curtains, though!

They sell baths and toilets in France to you know! I am a bit scared that it will all be a bit to much that whole Titanic themed suite. Less is more, Terry! True chic is understated!
Yes they sell toilets and baths in France but are basic and the nice ones are 5 times the price. The titanic theme will be understated, it is more of a Edwardian style with a couple of hints to the liners, like the names, instead of Titanic and Olympic we are going with the numbers 401 & 400, this makes it less in your face and if you don’t know about the Olympic class liners then it would not matter. 🥰🥰
Actually I think that actual names such as Olympic and Titanic sound better than 400 and 401. Although some people might not like Titanic
