What I love about his style is that it feels improvised. His cadence and delivery sounds less like a stand-up routine and more like he's just talking shit with his friends at a bar.

"If you take heroin, every bus is a bullet train..." My fucking sides hurt. The art of delivery and "lean" punchlines is hands down one of the toughest skills in life to master. To feel the crowd slipping on premise and then gut punch them with that level of precision. Fuck man...epic level talent.
@SamAdams552 ай бұрын
This was an impressive set to say the least. The way he plays into alienating the crowd is great stuff. Best special i've watched in a while.
@landrec2Ай бұрын
Nailed it. ‘Lean Punchlines’ I’m a songwriter and get asked a lot to cowrite. I always start by saying, “Our goal is to simply convey our idea until it can be felt by the listener. We will cut more ideas than we will keep.” Yet they will fight for the perfect lyric that just doesn’t fit. Or shred a guitar solo over a pop song.

@@tophan5146he used a racial slur (rhymes with sink) for Asians and it was found by a ridiculously self-titled "comedy reporter" or more correct description is useless human/snitch who brought the podcast to light that may have had 100 views before that. You know this person probably said, "As you ALL know I love comedy and have a great sense of humor but... blah blah blah insert self serving statement here! This person obviously went looking for anything to gain attention because he is a failed comedian in life. So the joke just has no context. All of it is being said with them mocking themselves because they are such idiots and even knowing it was wrong by referencing them telling someone in the story you can't say something in public. I mean it was wrong to say but if it was accompanied by all the Asian abuse from Covid at the time, it was just bad timing any other time he probably would have survived it! Comedy is not always going to be funny sometimes it falls flat and guess what the comedian knows that and it will reflect in ticket sales. Humor is subjective and when something is said without hate and only for the humor it should be taken with a grain of salt. I mean Carlin has a famous joke about the word grape (the G is silent just not trying to violate KZheads terms of service) proving ANYTHING can be funny. Yes, it may be wrong but if comedians never took risks you wouldn't be laughing ever. To summarize someone went searching through someone's HAHA JOKE shows with the intention of finding anything they could use to negatively affect him and they did as you will with ANY comic in the world! But, that all being said we wouldn't have these Gilly and Keeves skits or this special. Not being on SNL was the best thing for him long term. He also has the fact he was obviously funny he made the cut for SNL which really isn't that good of a show anyways! @@liammagin8642 you're going to have to link something for proof, but I'll let you in on a little secret: the material people use for a special isn't a one and done, first night only time, set. Comedians use the same material, sometimes for years and years. Filming a special is actually usually the retirement for these jokes, as now everyone can just see them online instead of getting to reuse them every weekend in some random city. All that to say, with no knock to Shane, that premise could be years old...especially with no pop culture references and just a standalone joke.

Sorry for the novel of a comment just hate the people who can not just laugh or just ignore someone they don't find funny!
Thanks!
when you have to hold your throat because its strained from being in a constant laugh. Thanks for being bold and a joy
Jesus christ this is good. One of the best specials in history.
“That’s a smart run” has to be one of the funniest, most understated lines in this 😂
lmao i thought the same thing
that shit killed me
Intelligent play vs athletic play. 😂 Bill Burr has a good bit about that. Shane just slides that little gem in there. 😂😂😂
😂😂😂 hilarious and when he talks about growing into being republican is genius ...
@@bjjones6692no for real that shit was like a revelation first time I heard him say it. Like how that this shit is fucking accurate it CRAZY
The fact that he laughs as much as his audience makes me love him even more. He’s just having a great time and his joy is infectious
Usually when I see comedians laugh it outs me off, but shane Gillis is just so authentic and relatable 😂
I might be half cheeseburger. 😅
XO a
Imagine the fun he could have dancing to music
The fact that he's sex on legs doesn't help either
the funniest stand up comedy that i have seen in years even funnier that the 3 dave chappelle specials combined and i love dave.
Dave is on another level. Theres no comparison. Two very different things that make different people laugh.
His laugh is so heartwarming. It makes me laugh every time and makes me feel like everything is going to be alright.
This special is great. I came in, I said, "look how great this special is".
It's the best special there ever was, and everyone agrees.
Anyone who says otherwise is wrong. It’s fake news, fake news.
Shane is a good friend of mine, he likes me and I like him
Tremendous special. Tremendous. I told my friends "what a tremendous special this is."
Everybody knows
When he said "Cena is like the angel of death to these guys" I pissed my pants.
he's taking souls with him
They should have him dressed in black sheets carrying a scythe
Funniest line of the set
I remember watching this when it was around 15k views. I’m so glad all you guys give him the love he deserves. Shane is a great guy. I DMd him telling him that I watched his special (beautiful dogs - Netflix) the day my father died. He made me laugh. No one makes me laugh like Shane does. He scratches the spot that no other comics can scratch.
This is the best time you can spend on KZhead.
The horse girl joke was the most insane decision ever and he absolutely crushed it 😳
@@ryanowns5 the jokes from the dog girl episode. Its pretty much exactly what he said.
It was certainly such an INSANE decision!!!! Ugh I wish I had the nards to be that insane.
Can someone explain it to me? I'm not native English speaker

Possibly the funniest special I’ve seen in over a decade
man i've been watching a lot of specials this definitely was my favorite, i was crying through the whole thing. Definitely cheered me up after my break up
Shane's not a good fit for SNL because he's actually funny.
How original.
@SmokeKing if we're emotional why are you the one using emojis?
@SmokeKing imagine thinking snl is a funny show.
SmokeKing get well soon bro 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🐶🧠
@SmokeKing Tell me you're insecure without saying that you're insecure
“I think they’re letting one coach”😂. Whole thing was killer, well done Shane
Too funny
Dude Shane Gillis is funny af I can't get enough of this guy 😆😂
I come back to this at least twice a week, it does not get old.
Without a doubt, in my opinion, one of the best stand up specials of the last decade. It doesn't have to be for everyone, this is just undeniable. Shane is the man.
Nothing is undeniable. I can deny your claim that this was funny in any way. If you enjoyed it, that's good. But I didn't even crack a smile once. Now.... Tom Segura WAS the funniest stand up comedian who I had ever seen, until I saw Norm MacDonald. I've never laughed harder or more consistently at any of the stand up shows that I've been to before then or since then.
@@Ben_Jones You definitely had a CNN dad
@@patrickbrady5457 lol no. I grew up in the country with whatever Canadian tv channels our little antenna would pick up. I have a farm dad.

Agreed! The Fox dad /black church bit was so damn funny too.
I might be the only one to notice this but nick mullen made this joke before this special. Hopefully just similar ideas cause I think Shane is a great comedian.
@@mad1337nes !! Dropped some knowledge on that man! Can’t wait to see Shane’s next set
Killer tag to that joke. He's pretty epic.
I can watch countless hours of this brilliant guy. I need more specials!!! Like One every year at least :)
Not sure how many times I've watched this now. Fuxking brilliant!
Shane is going to be the new face of comedy his ability to backtrack on stories and integrate them into the next joke is like next level

They way he makes his bits so approachable like he’s just bullshitting with you and not on a stage is great. The guy had people laughing at everything, trans, trump, school shootings. A good comedian for sure
Shane is hilarious without being offensive
Roll tide brother ✊
The way he says "hwhite" is on point

I saw his impersonation of Pres Trump on Gutfield recently. I just watched this comedian. Thank you for posting this. This guy is hilarious and speaks from a good heart. What pure fun that was listening and watching. I wish him continued success and a long and great career

Im actually surprised how good this special is. Never heard of this guy and this is one of the best specials ive ever seen. Hilarious!
Should check out his skits on this channel, Shane Gillis is very funny
I just found him on Theos podcast a few days ago. Been binging him, he’s really on another level when it comes to surprises and twists. The directions are things you’d never dream of and they work

Him and Mark Normand are both new to me and like the last couple months in both in my top two

The whole: "make a wish foundation celeb being a bad sign to the terminally Ill" joke has actually been done more than a few times. Just in different formats. No hate on shane I just thought this was parrarel thinking. Also he did it better than the other two. And hes funnier than the other two.

Just watched it for the 3rd time. It only stinks when it ends. Shane Gillis #1
Same my homie
On my third watch now lol
I think Sam Morrill " I got this" stands up, the guy is an amazing joke writer. I also like Sean Patton Scuttlebutt, that's a straight existential experience. It's an album, not a special.
Trying not to laugh to this while in class is the hardest thing. Like I physically want to laugh😭
Just finished watching this for my 6th or 7th time now. I will forever love this special ❤
How is this free? I feel like we should be paying for this level of comedy. So underrated.

I used to be a Fox mom but smoke outside. LOL. I no longer watch them for the most part though. War Mongers is what many are. Tucker is watchable MOST of the time. Hannity is NOT. As for DEBATES? When the moderator HELPS the Democrat then HOUSTON we have a problem. Much of what Trump said in the debates was actually TRUE. Think about it.
