Buttercup is AMAZING! Small compared to the other dogs, and it's snap, the neck technique is a super smart way she goes about putting down the rats.
Terriers were bred to be rat/small animal hunters, so Buttercup is doing what her DNA is telling her to do. So she is having the time of her life, getting to fulfill her instinctual desires. They were bred small to fit into holes, since they are small their jaws cannot crush like Boss’s so they shake to kill. Some terriers have the short strong tails that you can grab and lift them/pull them out of the holes. So when people have terriers as couch pets and don’t get why they are mouthy and bite, because they don’t understand their breed’s needs it is quite sad.
@@Hadraniel94 to be fair though, you can breed it out of them to a certain degree. Selection during breeding is key. E.g., the police use German Shepherds, but afaik, they have their own breeders so they get the dogs they need: energetic, playful, (controllably) aggressive, incredibly driven to work. On the other side, I'm pretty sure that there are GSD breeders who 'specialize' in breeding friendly, more docile and more chill family pets (and I don't mean show-line with the fucked up backs, those should be banned) that are much easier to handle (doesn't mean a GSD should live in as a sentient pillow in a tiny apartment, but I hope you get my point.) I do however agree that many people simply don't know about their dog's needs, and then wonder why they destroy the furniture or are hard to handle, they just go after what's 'cute' or 'fashionable'.

I noticed breed really shows in these videos. The bulldog mixes bite once or twice and break necks with sheer bite force. The collie and spaniel are more likely to try and herd or cut off the path of the rats but not as likely to kill in one blow. They seem much less comfortable going for the kill. The terrier and hound mixes are all about digging those little suckers up and shaking them to death. Having a couple of each breed seems to be a good strategy. And that mink that killed 9-10 under that board...that is amazing! I can't believe the stamina of something so small.
Nailed it. Our Cairn Terriers were amazing at killing gophers on our property. The gophers were too quick/agile for our golden retriever but those cairn terriers would almost never lose one. It's in there DNA to do this kind of work. Amazing dogs.

My parents used to have a dog and they loved him so much, he died when my mom gave birth to my older bro, I can't have dogs due to religious reasons but I can confirm this due to the fact I once pet a dog in a restaurant, he was sitting on a chair and I decided to touch him
